This is officially day 1 of our NC500 road trip when we picked up our campervan from Highland Campervans. This is the relatively short drive from Inverness where we picked up our campervan to Dornoch Camping and Caravan site where we spent our first night.
So come and drive round the NC500 with us!
    This is twice normal speed.

I travelled a lot from France to Scotland, several times, and I knwo those places, the clothie tree, Dornoch (the smaller cathedral in IK), the Mory Firth, Ardvrack Castle, Ullapool, Roggie Falls, oh, what wonderful memories...sigh!

I just realized that your drive looks like the midwest. Almost like parts of Texas or Oklahoma. Very interesting!

That area looks so nice. I have never been. Do you just use your normal camera? Or do you have a dash cam?

We use a GoPro with a mount on the windscreen. (We don't trust it enough to mount it outside yet!)

It isn't the Inverness Firth, that is the Moray Firth, you then go over the Cromarty Firth and the last firth is the Dornoch Firth.
The Black Isle derives its' name from Gaelic and also refers to the rich, black fertile soil of the peninsula.
I live in Dornoch, a great place to live !!

Sorry if we got it wrong! What a gorgeous area you live in! We need to get back, I just loved every minute of this trip. Does Dornoch have a train station? I thought it looked like a great place to live! Thanks so much for the information.

Hiring the camper the travel and site fees what sort of price does this cost for your journey. I want to do it but dont know whether to hire camper or drive car and do bed and breakfast.

I can't remember exactly, but the van was around £800, I think. Since it was our first time in campervan, we stayed in campsites with hookups every night, nearly. There are cheaper and even free places. One night, we stayed at a hotel carpark in Keiss, near Wick, that has electric hookups for $10. Our last campsite was $17, I think. Some of the bigger ones were £20-30 a night. It pays to research the areas where you'd like to stop for the night and see what's there. There is also a book called Brit Stop that shows businesses that will let you park overnight for free. I'm not sure if any of them are on the NC500. There are places you can park overnight for free too. At the time we went, many B and B's weren't open, plus we wanted to see how we got on in a campervan. For me, the idea of carrying your kitchen, bed and toilet was worth the slightly extra cost. But I can also see the benefits of B&B's. You will enjoy whichever way you decide! Let us know what you decide!!

Ha ha ha....oddly, I felt that way when I watched it! Guess 15 years isn't enough to get used to some things!!
