    I “inherited” an el-cheapo grill. This was a great tutorial. Thanks

    Use smaller woodchips and sandwich them between your snake, this way you won't have flames blazing, just glowing coal all the way till the sweet end.

    Looks good. Smoking is an art and labor of love. I would suggest soaking your bark less wood.
    Smoke on.

    Thank you. I always get good results form my Brinkman but it is a job tending the fire. I am ready to try the snake method to make it easier. This gives me a good starting point. I'll just use a skinnier snake to start.

    Did you make any modifications to your smoker and also what did you set the coals on ? I’m seeing a lot of people saying that the charcoal bowl isn’t good to put the coals in

    • @TrailMedic911
      @TrailMedic911  8 месяцев назад +1

      No modifications. I put the coals on a grate above the bottom bowl.

    I applaud you playing in this sandbox. I’ve used a brinkman, do yourself a favor and get a weber smokey mountain, thank me later. I bought the 18.5” one, but wish I had splurged for the 22”. I now have an offset stick burner, but for the money and time needed to tinker, the weber smokey mountain is the sweet spot imo.

      I’m just getting started using a smoker. Hopefully I’ll get better as I go. But, that was still some good eating.😇

    The key to a vertical water smoker is keeping water in the pan. When your temp rose too high your pan was merely boiling grease.

      It is also necessary to keep the fire at the right level, not too hot. Have to maintain both, water and fire.

    I just got one of these smokers. I’m confused, as to how to use it without burning myself. It seems, once I get the fire going then I am supposed to put in the lower rack and the water bowl, but the problem with that is then I am directly over a hot Smokey fire, seems like a design flaw or am I missing something?

    • @TrailMedic911
      @TrailMedic911  Год назад +1

      Nope, it’s not easy.
      I set it all up in the beginning then light the fire.

      @@TrailMedic911 in that case maybe I’ll do the modification I see on RUclips where people flip the legs to the outside and prop up the burn pan on some bricks. Then you can remove the whole smoker from the fire at any time.

    • @Simpleautodetailing
      @Simpleautodetailing 11 месяцев назад +1

      You can also instead of bricks use a Weber Smokey Joe and that also has a grate and damper so you can regulate temps well
