  • Historically, the Europeans would colonise North America, founding the United States of America and surplanting the existing Native Americans. Today, however, we play as the Iroquios and get to the Europeans before they can come to us. We take on the Europeans wherever they land and even at sea... though it does take us a while to catch up economically.

    what annoys me about this game, (amongst other things lol) is like, when i played a native nation i think it was huron, and took nearly all of the americas and then landed on west europe with like half a million men, a really easy war against france but i can only take like 6-10 provinces and then get a huge coalition... i feel like the game would be better if wars are more costly (money, happiness or whatever mechanic) and tougher to win, but when u win u can take more stuff... ie more provinces and less ae and less oe.. war less often but take more... its kinda annoying to war a HUGE otto and then take 6-8 provinces and have to war him 30 times.. just the same thing over & over again.. 10 years of war for 6 provinces just makes you not want to bother doing the war

    • @tigrecito48
      @tigrecito48 Год назад

      or maybe they could do it where every nation has the chance to have a mingsplosion? so i war the ottos twice and fully take their provinces.. so devastation is really high.. they get tons of rebels and explode into 12 small nations.. then i can just war all the smaller nations and other people also eat up those nations... so that way u probably only need to actually war otto 2-3 times at most before they collapse (depending on how much devastation u caused)

    On the Russian conquest of theodoro... its quite possible that Poland occupied Theodoro in a separate war and Russia declared war for Theodoro as the AI saw that Ottomans were sieged down either completely or nearly completely by Poland, then either Poland took and released a Theodoro vassal. Or in the peace deal had Theodoro released, and then vassalized. Or Theodoro was a subject of Ottomans and used transfer subject control. And since EU is not like CK, if the war goal is lost in a separate war to a different nation, your war does not get invalidated and immediately end. You can still occupy and annex other parts.

    About if colonialism would be the same, I believe not.
    The Aztecs themselves only lost because of diseases and infighting.
    Tenochticlan itself was a hugely populated place at the time, I believe that it rivaled and perhaps even surpassed Paris in people per km², which explains the huge vulnerability to old world diseases.
    Infighting could be supressed if the natives were like the Iroquois of the video, centralized enough to have a standing army with professional training.
    The european powers would have to fight at the farthest yet known place at the time, that would mean no supplies besides the ones you bring, attrition would eat at them just like it's eating Russia at the conflict with Ukraine, but far, far worse.
    To top it all they would have to fight in the densely forested and humid place that is the U.S coast, which would only make attrition worse. Supplies and morale would rot away before they made any real advance.
    Tl;dr: Especulative Iroquois Empire smashes puny old europe.

    There is an argument to be made that an existing centralized north american native state would have made colonisation easier, due to preexisting gouvernmental structures allowing for the taking over of such an apparatus for exploitation purposes, for example as the spanish did with the actezcs or as you have mentioned the british with the mughals. The spanish didn't bother colonising north america as much because they already had the best bits where this was the case, late comers like the british and french just pivoted to NA because it was still up for grabs. Thus the colonisation of NA and meso- and south america was so diffrent because the decentralised natives structures could just move away (up to some point).

      Pretty sure they will. Includes other empire type reforms. I think you should be able to get Horde ideas and keep them if you grab them during the big reform step.

      @@Miranda17137 nice to know.. doesnt native ideas give an extra colonist? or was that on the reform things? when i played natives i didnt take the reform that gives you the institutions until as late as possible.. made sure that the colonial power had as many institutions as possible while devving up my nation... then i got 3 or 4 institutions in one go.. and after that u can tech up super quick cos ur ahead on institutions but way beind on tech. u will find urself only maybe 1 tech behind europe by the time they attack u without having wasted ur mana.. u just gotta time it right otherwise ur screwed

      @@tigrecito48 Indigenous won't give you a Settler. I know the Australians and Polynesians have a Settler in their mission tree, and Aztec faith has a Settler as part of its reforms, but beyond that I'm not sure.
      I'm 99% sure it'll be in the mission tree for all aboriginals. Indigenous is still a pretty good idea group to grab anyway, I think, as you can line up a pretty decent lot of dev cost reduction.

      @@Miranda17137 maybe im thinking of older versions. i conquered all north & south america as huron back in 1.30.. i did cherokee in the new ones but i never conquer the whole lot cos dealing with natives is kinda annoying since the new updates.. having to war them constantly and take 1 province.. and taking their tribal land in a war and then 2 minutes later they just take it back again by moving.. and also.. while im moaning.. the australian tribes are annoying as hell for colonisers since new updates... i spend like 300 days waiting for my guy to arrive, they just migrate into it, undo it and migrate back again.. surely the devs have done this on purpose to be annoying? surely they should fix this? is it realistic that a bunch of settlers would go 98% of the way to australia and then go all the way home again cos some dudes moved house and then spend another 300 days to come back again? its beyond ridiculous... if the devs sorted out all these minor but irritating things in the game i wouldnt be on here moaning all the time. it must be a pretty simple fix...or maybe it isnt.. i aint no developer.. although i did do c++ programming in university and hey... some of the guys on my course could have sorted this sh*t out quicker than paradox does

    Well, I haven't finished the video yet, roughly at 22 minutes, when you comment about how the europeans would react because of a massive native empire, well, the Incan empire pretty much ruled the known world (as they knew it), and the Spanish just went there and conquered it anyway, you need to remember that the natives were known as not knowing the world of god, therefore it was imperative to spread christianity through any means necessary (specially if it meant getting rich in the process), however, it's likely that the conquest of a massive native empire would've probably played out like the conquest of the Incan empire, they didn't just turn up and started conquering village after village, Pizzaro pretty much took advantage of local customs to make himself Sapa Inca (emperor) by force and subverted the entire empire from his position of power into a Spanish colony, because realistically if it was an actual warfare, like I imagine it was with some of the conquest of India, there was no way the colonial powers would be able to sustain such a logistical nightmare for that time period, and win the war, that's why if you go see a lot of colonial history is pretty much making deals with natives and then breaking them afterwards, it was pretty much a constant struggle to buy time for reinforcements, guns or whatever was needed to arrive
