Growing up in Wisconsin in the 90s, this was a big show and it took place in Port Washington WI. My twin and our best friend and I made our parents take us there for a vacation even simply because that's were the show took place from a story standpoint. The guys on the show were into big ten football. It really resonated with us.

What a coincidence, I just started re-watching Step by Step a couple of days ago and watched the one at 3:11 today. The IMDB of the Erkel one said she was dating Jaleel White at the time, I don't if it's true or was just Hollywood Gossip.
A little trivia: The amusement park and roller coaster in the opening and closing credits was Six Flags Magic Mountain in Valencia CA. which was also the same amusement park and roller coaster in National Lampoons Vacation. The lake beside the roller coaster tn Step by Step was digitally added because it's actually the parking lot.

Karen was suppose to be the heartthrob super model that all the boys had a crush on, but she didn't do it for me at all. Definitely prefer Al, and maybe even Dana.
Karen was hot, but her ditzy personality got old fast. Al was just Al. It didn't hurt that Christine Lakin just got better-looking.

I love how Christine Lakin’s character Al was portrayed as a tomboy when the show first started, but as she grew up and went threw puberty, she became really beautiful without losing herself even when boys started to notice her and date her. Al still stuck to her morals/values and wasn’t afraid to stand up to bullies or anybody who was in the wrong.

@@oooh19 She said in one interview when she was somewhat of a tomboy in real life not quite as much as Al her character was. But as Al/Christine grew up during the series the actress and character became more similar.

Step by Step was probably the worst show on TGIF. Horrible actors, unfunny jokes, lame plots.
