If you read the description you see that I forgot the Custom Fleetside and when I realized this the video was up and it seemed very funny. The date on a Hot Wheels car is the design year and for the first model you of 1968 the Hong Kong models have 1967 and the USA made models have 1968. Newbies tend to focus on the stamped dates but collectors do not think about this at all we just know the model years. BTW all hot wheels keep their design date forever. So if you were to buy a Custom Mustang reproduction today it would carry the 1968 date on the base.
Just bought a complete set of sweet 16 in fantastic shape at a yard sale plus 32 others all 68/70 year models for whopping $50 about fell over when i started looking at their value ,great day.
I still have my original set of sweet 16 from my childhood. I have about 60 of the first original redlines! Along with all the tracks and other sets from the 60s. PuzziCat
The problem with Mustangs is they really did not make many to begin with and the ones they did make are mostly HK Red. USA models are so scarce. Collectors even when selling their collections tend to hand on to the Mustangs and Camaros so they do not circulate through the collecting community like other models do.
That model is call the "Open Hood Scoop" Custom Mustang. It is very valuable. It came in Gold and also Red, both are Hong Kong made, not USA. They are expensive. I see on ebay that a beater condition brings $100 to $200 and a minty Gold $600 to $900 and then there was a super sweet red one that brought $1600.
"Am I being thick" The film clip is described as Hot Wheels 1968 the original 16. So far so good. Here's the question. Why do all the cars have there production dates stamped on the base of the cars, that read 1967? Not 1968. And by the way. I only counted 15 cars on your podium.

Yes, it was the year before 1968 and the year after 1966. Also it is one of my favorite years because my wonderful wife was born ❤️. It is also the year for the copyright of the Hong Kong designs for the original Hot Wheels.
Your US Ford j car base is awesome. You said the US bases weren't nice. Can you show us a set of sweet sixteen just in US cars and show us the bases? PLEASE!!!@
Dave, how often do you come across ice (light) blue, near mint or exceptionally excellent cars with beautiful paint? I would imagine those rare few have taken up residence in your personal collection....
Few and far between. Will have to look and see what I have. I do know I have a Light Blue Whip Creamer in blister pack. In the past when I would get one I would sell it because of the high value. I once had the most beatlutiful Custom Corvette in Ice Blue but sold it at a convention in 05 for 2k. Today I would keep it if I found one.
Thank You for sharing the Hot Wheels Sweet 16 My goal as a collector to get all Sweet 16 Missing the Eldorado , T Bucket Custom Camaro, Custom T Bird Custom Barracuda So I've got some hunting to do I just might have to contact You Sir I stay tuned to Your channel I'm already subscribed. Exactly, the Hong Kong cars weren't washed off very well before painting that causes toning.
Umm, that’s only 15 , you’re missing one. The Fleetside.
Yep, only 15 😂
Yep
@@KingLiangvrI don't think too many people part with the custom Fleetside!!!.

I Want the 1968 Mustang Fastback.
That is a very popular model and so hard to find a nice one!
Thanks for confirming the distinguishing differences between US and HK models 👏

That VW is stunning, one of my favs, a sliding sunroof, get out of here! Another I LOVED was the 1969 Paddy Wagon.
I found some of these including the vw custom. I’ve just put them on eBay
Great presentation. Best wishes👍
Beautiful collection.
I count 15 🤷♂️
Custom Corvette should have 4 medium sized wheels.
Not with the hong Kong model. Smaller tires on the front were the norm in 1968
I think I have a custom mustang addiction! I just collect them only, I sometimes wish I collected one of the cheaper models! 😂

Awesome!
Drill the hood pin out and slip a replacement pin in to your cougar.
I HAVE ALL BUT 3 OF THOSE CARS AT HOME 😊
Where is the "Custom Fleetside"?!
My first Hot Wheel was the custom mustang in gold but the hood louvers were open , how rare was that variation?

Yes, it was the year before 1968 and the year after 1966. Also it is one of my favorite years because my wonderful wife was born ❤️. It is also the year for the copyright of the Hong Kong designs for the original Hot Wheels.
