I think that all drivers should have to submit to a drug screening and fingerprint check in every city where rideshare exists. It would weed out a lot of drivers that are probably driving around high or drunk and picking up riders. I was surprised that there was no drug test or fingerprint background check required when I signed up to drive in L.A.
yeah I did everything already tlc sent me a letter to come In for a fitness review interview this stuff is so tedious I guess after this I'll get my license
hey I today was my first day ubering, my application date was august 11th. so you can see its not so easy. I recommend hanac school in long Island city.. they have a class everyday, very flexible u can do 3 days straight or 2 days one week. 1 day another etc. very cool teachers.. also uber tried to convince me to rent a car from American leasing.. FYI these car rentals and leasing.. if you call for info. u better have your tlc license. they'll get annoyed... then when you do get your license you get to go to one of these car lots well they treat you like cattle. and to top it off 2 week wait on a camery, no highlanders no vans no suvs.. $450 a week.. I was so disappointed in the experience. I already own black on black 2015 Honda accord. so I went to uber chelsea.. when to the 2 Russian girls that are left of the entrance.. tlc insurance. they were amazing.. after plunking down $1700 on insurance. then to the dmv.. tlc plates $475. then after that you have to wait 2 to 3 weeks. and get the car get inspection by the nyc tlc.. $675. eat before u goto the inspection. I went Nov 15th waited 2 1/2 hours just seating in my car waiting in a line... sorry for the rant. but I was thinking of doing a RUclips video about my struggle.. to lazy.. but if u have any questions please ask.. also if u have to make it to nyc tlc in long Island city.. u might as well head up to the 4th floor to lyft. if u can avoid multiple trips to that building.. parking sucks around there.. chris..
I remember when I got my tlc license. I was 19 and I didn't need as many requirements as ppl need now. It's true, Uber really killed the business in nyc, and really slowed down the process.
If you’re come to the US as a foreigner on Visitor’s visa and you wanna drive Uber to make some money. Is this whole process possible? From getting an E class driver’s license with DMV TO getting the TLC license with Uber…. Is this all possible for foreigners visitor with only visitor’s visa?
Max Power Max Power I think it's around $252 for the tlc license (for 3 years). $274 for the 24 class 3 day course and have to pass the test at the end of the course with a 70 and above. $26 for the drug test that you have to take every year. Go to the uber office they give you the 5 hour defensive course driving class for free. I heard they give out the wheelchair class out now, so that should save you $75. Not ever gonna use it. Unless you drive a yellow cab. Fingerprinting is $85. The tlc license is a universal license now. So you can drive fhv, limousine, yellow, green.
Azizjon Juraev It takes about 2 months or longer to get the license but if you hustle you can get it sooner. The total cost is right around $650. Email me if you want as well at Uberlifenyc@gmail.com bc there are a few little tricks to make sure you get it sooner
Don't you also have to pay another $650 for the license plate? Then you pay for fingerprints, drug tests, classes, and may other things. You need several grand to even get started. Then you make below minimum wage while your vehicle depreciates, tolls, taxes, uber commission, gas, maintenance, and job expenses. You have to record all of that daily by yourself, and then go to an accountant and pay another several hundred to do your taxes, because it's impossible to do all of these complex calculations yourself. How do you even manage not to lose money doing this?
I just started the process for becoming an Uber driver in nyc. I currently am I driver in Texas. This will be a big transition for me. You have any advice for me and are still driving
Legit question, at this point, is it even worth doing Uber with all these other services like Lyft and the regular cabbies? Do you guys make more than let's say an executive car driver? I would love an answer because here in Westchester county executive car drivers are in demand. And of course it would be a different clientele compared to what I've seen of Uber and Lyft.
The Salesman Yes it’s worth it and Uber is the busiest platform but you deafly want to do Lyft as a back up. But to make any money you need to be full-time and willing to drive quite a lot
email me at uberlifenyc@gmail.com / i think there were 60 questions on the exam and most of them were on reading a map, not a app based map but a hard copy map.

man honestly i gave up on the process ... I don't own a car and renting one is $425 a week. Yes the first 2 weeks are free but after that your locked into the car for at least 2 more weeks.

chris shea $450 to rent a Camry damn they rip you off you should of went to fast track they charge $425 or could of went on Craigslist and possibly get it for $400 a week.
I'm about to start. Now that you're a year in, do you still recommend it? What are your top 3 "things I wish I'd have known before starting to drive"...?
