    A beautiful sad fun fact:
When Robin Williams died, the Bostinians gathered to the park where the Bench Scene was filmed and they mourned his death at that same Bench.
I miss Robin Williams. The only celebrity death that made me cry like I lost a loved one.

When Robin Williams first read the script for Good Will Hunting. He asked the director Gus Van Sant "Who wrote this?". Gus Van Sant said "These two kids Ben Affleck and Matt Damon". Robin Williams responded "No seriously who wrote?". Gus Van Sant responded "Seriously". Robin Williams was astonished by that. Cause there's a depth of writing in this script that you don't often see with young writers.

I know it sounds cliche, but they really don't make movies like this anymore. I just rewatched recently, and one scene that really surprised me was the one where Will asks Skyler for another chance to take her out. It's not a huge, "dramatic" scene, but it's so authentic, and they're both so charmingly awkward despite their best efforts to put up confident fronts. It hits way different now that I'm a little older. Makes me wonder how many times that EXACT same conversation has happened in history. This movie is so good. Great reaction!
Fargo, Braveheart, The Princess Bride, Scream, John Carpenter's The Thing, Pulp Fiction, and A Few Good Men are a few of my favorite movies that also tend to perform pretty well (in case you're interested ;)). Also, I haven't seen your reaction to Old, as I wasn't crazy about the film, but M. Night Shyamalan's first two movies (The Sixth Sense, Signs) are VERY good if you haven't seen them.

    • @PlastiSeen
      @PlastiSeen  10 месяцев назад +4

I did notice that. I loved how real and raw a lot of the scenes were. They seemed incredibly relatable. I'm sure there are gems like that around still, but they probably aren't marketed as well. Thank you for watching - I'll check out those 2 movies from M. Night. I think I've seen both, but it's been like decades... could be worth a rewatch!

    • @kevinlakeman5043
      @kevinlakeman5043 10 месяцев назад +1

Yeah, they do. I suggest you watch more movies, and not just what's streaming or the corporate studio releases. Check out directors like the Dardennes brothers, Ken Loach, Mike Leigh, Celine Sciamma, Jeff Nichols, Joachim Trier, Kar Wai Wong, and Hong Sang-soo.

Another good reaction! This movie always gets you in the feels for sure and you did it justice. The more you learn about Will's background, it is pretty hard not to feel his pain. Matt Damon and Robin Williams had tremendous performances too.
As for the ugly crying, I think it was just a genuine reaction and that makes it even better. However, I think that part of the crying was due to Will's ratty shirt that you had to look at.

I find it interesting. Most people think Robin Williams as a comedian. (Which he was)
For me, I think of four particular films. Dead Poet's Society, Good Will Hunting, Patch Adams (my personal favorite), and Good Morning Vietnam.
He had plenty of great comedic and dramatic roles but those are the ones that stood out the most to me.
All 4 of them had gut wrenching moments and were a rollercoaster of emotions.
I deal with chronic migraines and frequent severe muscle cramps. I've often thought to myself "I can understand why someone with his diagnosis would take their own life."
Life with such a debilitating illness can be daunting. Some of us are able to power through it but I understand why some can't.

For a time I also had chronic issues that had me feeling a similar way and understanding why someone might want to take their life in that situation. So I get it, but I still miss Robin Williams :( I remember my elementary English teacher making us watch Dead Poet’s Society, but as a kid with then undiagnosed ADHD, I never paid attention. Oh well - maybe it could be good to do a reaction to. 💜 Thank you for watching!

It was genuinely wonderful to watch you go through the highs and lows of this movie, it's such a powerful film and honestly I think every young adult should see at some point.
Your joy in the beginning was wonderful: yes - (some) healthy male relationships can be like that; about the awful, slow motion fight scenes 😂; and at seeing Robin Williams again.. You had no idea you were going to watch one of the best performances of his career, did you?
Then the emotion as we see the extent of the damage to Will, his trouble with intimacy and relationships, the abuse he suffered, the terror he feels about being abandoned again. Damon shows it so well and Williams really lays it all out so we can't miss it.
I can't watch it without at least two good cries still, and I've watched it again and again over the years.. It's too good, Robin Williams won an oscar for best supporting actor and Matt Damon / Ben Affleck won for best original screenplay - both well deserved.

23:50 Robin Williams's fans love him so much that they don't even refer to his characters' names in his films.
Instead of saying the name Sean Maguire, they say Robin Williams.
This happens in his other films, like "Good Morning, Vietnam".
His character's name is Adrian Cronauer, but film audiences still refer to him as Robin Williams.

You touched on it a couple times here, but what a lot of people often overlook in this film is that there are no villains. There isn’t some antagonist that must be overcome for Will or any of the other characters to grow as a people. There are a just a few conflicting ideas on what is best, and then very realistic emotions that clash when those ideas butt heads. The drama is very grounded and human, and I think it’s stronger for that.

One of my all-time favorite movies. If someone doesn’t cry, there is something wrong with them. That phrase you queried (“How do you like them apples?”) is a very old traditional taunt, and Will used it exactly right.
I’m an old guy, brought up on black-and-white movies, so I want to put in a good word for them. There are many B&W gems. Without today’s special effects, the script and acting were crucial to putting across a powerful movie, and old Hollywood perfected these aspects of film to a high degree. Two of the best that are also popular with reactors are “Casablanca” and “12 Angry Men.”

    • @PlastiSeen
      @PlastiSeen  9 месяцев назад +2

Thank you for telling me the reason behind that line. Having grown up in Asia, I sometimes don’t know things like that!
Thank you for the recommendations. I used to watch old B&W movies on TV because there was a channel on cable that used to show them, so I’ll definitely consider doing reactions to them. I agree RE: the scripts and acting needing to be powerful in them!
      Thank you for watching 💜

People really overlook the life altering influence the Professor had in Will's life. He is the one who got Will out of jail, and he is the one who got him in with Robin Williams character. He gave him multiple job opportunities. Everyone tries to paint the professor as the villian but he is the example of the parent/mentor you need but has a hard time connecting on that emotional level but ultimately pushes you but it overly zealous putting his or her expectations on you.

A child being physically abused, neglected and in a home where there is mental illness and alcoholism is equivalent to a soldier in intense combat during wartime. It causes PTSD for the child that will stay with him his entire life...and in this film you can see what this does to the now adults decision making skills....it's all caused by the abuse at such a young age. What Will does and says in this film makes perfect sense to me...some of the finest acting that I have ever seen by Matt and Minnie.

I think the ending is perfect in its own way for the story and for Will as a character. We can assume that with the right motivation in hand, he will wind up getting Skylar to take him back but we really wont know for sure. I believe the point of leaving it open ended is to show the audience that Will has a new life ahead of him with the ability to make sound choices for himself

The first time I watched this I was sobbing, and I’m a full grown man! It still gets me choked up every time, and this goes down as one of my all time fav movies! There are so many little threads that I picked up on after multiple viewings, like how he makes fun of the guy in the bar for plagiarizing his thoughts but we see him do the same thing throughout the movie with Sean. Until he finally starts to open up. Just a genius script and fantastic acting!

    Amazing reaction video😊
Here is a little list of great movies, that might have gone under the radar, but is worth watching:
Don't remember any of this on your channel
The Game, an older Michael Douglas movie, with the twist you not can guess
The Butterfly effect "directors cut" is very important its that cut, a movie you can see many times and still find new details
Book of Eli, always amazing Denzil W in the lead role
The Intouchables, french movie, a movie that shows language doesn't matter if the script is amazing
Once were warriors, a rough movie, that shows the hard life in a struggling society, has a follow-up: What becomes of the Brokenhearted.
Less miserable: musical, not a fan of musicals myself, but this, is one of the best cinema experiences I have had.
Minority report: mystery thriller with a good twist.
Taken: must-see action movie, not brainless action, a bit of John Wick style.
Seven Pounds: Drama, good acting and tears might unlock.
Pay it forward: the movie that warms and breaks your heart.
Mystic River: a movie from a time, that focused on the story and not just special effects.
United state if Leland: an underrated movie that almost nobody knows, a young unknown Ryan Gossling acts amazing.
Braveheart, the movie that is a must see, action, romance, tears and laughter
Can't buy me love: Romantic comedy from the '80s, fun, happy, sad and make you want to be a better person.
La Bamba is a true story of the singer Richie Valens, if you don't know him, do not read up on him before watching the movie.
Limitless is just a great thriller.
Beyond Borders: a hard story about different views of the world, romantic drama.
A beautiful mind: a drama about the life of a great mind.
Click: Adam Sandler movie, Sandler humor, but deeper then you think
Theory of everything: A true story, the life of Steve Hawking.
The Usuals suspects: one of the ultimate crimes.
The Hunt from 2012, danish movie, this movie makes you feel, not going to tell what, it is so simple but strong... This movie has made me think a lot about how I act in real life
The life of David Gale. Drama, crime and thriller, exciting movie that wants you to think
Brian's song: old true story, that make all men cry.
Have more, but this is the first coming to my mind that I don't think you have watched or planned yet, that made an impact on me
