Hi. Thanks for such a wonderful recipe. I have a question. Since this recipe uses salt, does it itch the body? Everytime I make salt scrub, it burns the skin.
We do ship to Puerto Rico. Additional shipping fees may be charged. Please see our international shipping policies here: www.brambleberry.com/International-Shipping-Policies-W31.aspx
Since this scrub is not made with water, adding a preservative is optional! If you decide to add one, we recommend using Optiphen or Phenonip. If you'd like more information on using preservatives in your projects, read this article: www.brambleberry.com/articles/ingredient-information/art0029-preservatives-quick-guide.html
Is it okay to sell sugar/salt scrubs without preservative and for liability purposes, place a disclaimer on the label stating there is no preservative and to avoid water contact in container as well as using a clean utensil to scoop with? I always wonder about this. I make sugar/salt scrubs and use Optiphen but would love to extend the option of using the products to those who prefer a more natural approach to skin care.
Hi how do you know how much opitphen to use? Lets say in a recipe with 2 cups sea salt, 3 tbsp of vitamin E oil and 3/4 cup coconut oil, along with 20 drops of essential oil.

You can add a liquid emulsifier to see if that helps. We normally use Polysorbate 80 for that purpose.

How long will these last for if they are kept away from water exposure for personal use? Thank you! Look so cute, Soap Queen 🛁 👑! 💜💜💜
We recommend using the scrub within 6 to 12 months. Storing in a dry, cool place always helps extend the life of bath and beauty products.
