His markings are definitely absolute and exact. You don’t have to play them, but if he indeed saw this „big slowing down“ (which is not documented) coming, then using „too fast“ numbers, would not have been a good strategy. He had one right tempo in mind, wrote it down. So I think it’s more likely that he wrote it down slower than we play today, which would fit with the well documented speeding up of performances. For example he might have only counted every second tick, which still works.
Congrats, Sarah. You've made your point in such a clear way that even an almost completely ignorant person in terms of music like me can understand. Turn classical music into something regular people can understand, and like, really deserves applauses.
You probably dont care but if you guys are stoned like me atm then you can stream pretty much all the latest series on Instaflixxer. Been binge watching with my brother recently :)
Como sempre ressalvo, o tempo (cadência) na obra do gênio é tudo. Imagine por um instante esse andamento sem essa cadência. Eis a perfeição da música Beethoveniana.

Great series!! Well done DW 👏🏼👏🏼
4:58 Now, Beethoven was not just a genius composing but also a future teller..., come on, Paavo!
I don't like conductors that don't stick to Beethoven's tempo markings .
Waiting for the obligatory Putin comment re: Jarvi.
Interesante, vengo de Jaime Alzotano
Por no hacen doblaje al español??
What about the fact that original instruments could not hold a tone for as long as modern instruments... so play it faster.
😄👍
