I enjoyed virtually knowing more about Taimane. Great great music. Rachel is a good addition as a guitar accompanist even if only when not working as an engineer. Good stuff. Thank you to Hawaii Music Supply for this great program. Ultra entertaining.
Saw her live at Stanford! Her virtuosity and energy is quite a treat to witness in person. So glad she did this podcast where we get a chance to breath and listen to some chit chat
Taimane's videos are what got me interested in playing ukulele, and then I found you guys and haven't stopped watching since ❤ so insane to see you all playing together!! And a huge shoutout to Rachel - I'm also an engineer and it's so inspiring to see other women balance the professional life with music 😍 Happy belated birthday to Kalei, and thanks for all the amazing episodes this year!! We're all so lucky to have you guys. Hope you all have a wonderful new year and happy holidays!!
My ‘senior’ bodyboarding group was taught e ala e and hula moves by two of the women in our group…we would all sing before we entered the ocean…hearing Taimane & Rachel sing and play this brings tears to my eyes…beautiful…🙏🏻🌊
I appreciate how the dynamic of this session evolved throughout the episode... the chemistry seemed to build, and Andrew wasn't afraid to scratch the surface both with some more vulnerable questions and with that Grimes sound sample! Was I the only one holding my breath for the uke finish and her nails? Taimane's a pro! Another great episode to close out 2022! Thanks for all the magic you've shared over these 55 eps! (not to mention the TUS clips channel and standalone sound samples). The ukulele world is lucky to have you guys!!!
Props to Rachel Look for being so musical and a civil engineer! My late father was a civil engineer and played trombone and sang in a barbershop quartet. He owned an ukulele in 1933 and gave us kids a harmony uke in 1959
❤ Thanks! To Ukulele site store! What gem to find this video and see interesting conversations and excellent playing and a treat to see Taimane playing very inspirational music!Thank you! Thank you ❤😊
Wow, ending the year with a bang, Guys. Interesting to hear Taimane's story and listen to her and Rachel, and watch her play. The jams were fabulous. Happy New Year, Folks, to you all and everybody at TUS!
Great session, caught some of Taimane session from Glastonbury on TV, amazing talent. Loved this session, Andrew, Kalei and Corey would love Glastonbury. Thank you for a wonderful finale session for 2022, great way to round up the year. Have a wonderful festive season and here is to 2023.
I love this video, taimane is truly amazing, her ukuleles are beautiful, I had the privilege to play “tiger Lilly” she’s an amazing artist. Beautiful singing. Great interview/music!
Smashing finale! Thank you guys so much for sharing your gift of music. The start of the year was rough and I found refuge in your music and podcast-never missing an episode and always looking forward to the next. Visiting your store in Haleiwa, and seeing Corey and Rob in the flesh were definitely one of the highlights of this year. Thank you for bringing in so many talented artists, for spreading so much joy through their music. Kalei and Corey, you guys are the best! Andrew, thank you for making the magic happen. Merry Christmas! Happy New Year! 🫶🤙

Hello Andrew, Taimane 🌺, Corey and Kalei, what a stunning gift, closing the Year 2022 with this amazing Podcast! 🌠Taimane - Love your special style of playing the uke and using the chorus and effects, and I Love your new uke and your collab with Enya and the ukes you created together. What a Joy to hear and see you together playing and talking. Thanks to all of you from the bottom of my heart! Stay safe, healthy and be blessed. Wish you a wonderful christmas time and looking forward to see you again in a hopefully happy new Year 2023!!! Mahalo Nui, Bettina from Germany
non da meno e la ragazza con cui vi esibite quanta generosita' non so dire parole che creano emozione , posso solo raccontarvi l'emozione del fiume che mi scorre dentro ,solo acqua limpida
Taimane has always had sometype of X-Factor...its hard for us to understand...somehow like all the greats... a cosmic destiny for her...happy holidays all!
Love that 5 string Uke, but I got to ask you. What do you do if you break a nail? How many layers of lacquer do you put on those nails. Meanwhile I'm still stuck with a pick!
I have noticed in this and other episodes, that there is some “brum” hearable on background. Something like fridge running. Seems that is since you are using GarageBand. It is noticable mainly wen nobody is talking/playing. Anyway, nice podcast and I really do like what you are doing ❤. Have nice and calm Christmass 🙂.
Aloha, I'm a recent subscriber and newbie to ukulele living in Maryland. I just bought a tenor uke two days ago as of the writing of this comment. Early in this video, you mentioned aging ukes "opening up." Can you help me understand what that means in terms of the instrument and the sound? Taimane's playing gave me chicken skin. Mahalo!!
Solid wood acoustic instruments “mature” as they age, which is to say their tone changes-for the better-as they get older. At least, that’s what people say.
I am a uke player…and while I just recently discovered Taiwanese I am in love…from her georgeous I am in love with Taimane…from her gorge Ou I am in love with Taimane…from her gorgeous eyes, her ethereal voice to her talented fingers and sexy bare feet! I too play tenor uke so I can only aspire…and sigh…enjoyed your program…thanks…Ron. G
My opinion is that the guitar over powers the ukulele and I feel for that reason they should not be played at the same time. Just my opinion so don’t get twisted over it lol
Uses with more than 4 strings usually cost at least $60 more than the equivalent 4 string. While an extra string and tuner is cheap, the nut and tie board has to be made special. Also pretty sure they are making a ton more 4 strings than the 5 string, so economy of scale in manufacturing comes into play.
I’d have to say Rachel is a truly fantastic talent in her own right! She seems to be pretty amazing at near everything, humble too.
It woulda been cool to have a jam with all four of them!

Some competition today for skill and talent
Does anyone know who makes these beautiful Ukuleles?
Taimane's ukes Kamaka, but made specifically by Casey Kamaka himself. The last uke she sampled was a Grimes. Ooohweeee, they're all nice!!

She’s so overly dramatic which really spoils the beautiful music she plays…..
Loved this RUclips episode ! What was Rachael’s Instagram handle ? Also I’d love to hear more about everyone’s available music please 😊
An extra string cost $100 more? Sure why not.
