    2:29 always disconnect the battery first before disconnecting any cables or anything else. Since you can accidently cause a shortage with a cable when battery is connected. Some may not believe it but it is true, since once I didn't disconnect the battery in a laptop and it had a cable for power button so then when I was connecting the cable back it actually caused the laptop to turn itself on when I tried to get cable into the port. So this is why always disconnect the battery first before touching anything else.

    Do you know how much risk does a disassembly pose to an ASUS ROG? I'm in need of a keyboard replacement, and a few people warned me that sometimes the laptop would malfunction afterwards becaue it had to be dismantled. Of course I backed up all my data just in case, but I can't afford to get a new laptop if something goes wrong.

      I can't assured you there is no risk on keyboard replacement. Hope this video can help you to make the right judgement. Make sure to get keyboard replacement with the palmrest and touchpad assembly. You cannot just replace the keyboard itself.

    12:30 Be careful prying the heatsink/heatpipe fan assembly off... Do it at the centre instead of either the fan sides as the copper heat pipe is very malleable and easily bent and if bent it will have a kink in it restricting the movement of the stuff inside.

    Hi everyone! I know this is an older video but I thought someone might be able to help me. I'm currently dealing with a GPU fan with a bad bearing on my G532. The problem is that the G532 is underneath the copper heat sink and I'll have to completely remove it to be able to replace the GPU fan. I'm familiar with many basic laptop repairs, but I haven't dealt much with the thermal paste. Will I need to completely replace the existing thermal paste when I remove it?

    • @qgqsrg1

      did you ever get to it?
      I've been having the same problem for months now and just manually controlled the fan until it reached high rpm without rattling/keeping alignment.
      However it no longer works well, now it always rattles above 900 rpm. So I now really need to fix/replace my gpu fan.
      btw is it possible to remove the gpu fan by removing the entire motherboard alongside the heatsink and fan, instead of separating the heatsink and motherboard?

      @marble_wraith 2 года назад +1

      There are no bearings in the fan. I have the 5v ones in a G531GV scar 3 model. I've taken one apart, it's a magnetic ring around the outside with an induction coil inside, and the fan housing "floats" on top, no bearings at all. Which means that any kind of bump or accumulation of dust can impact the fan and cause it to vibrate and buzz.
      I'm having to replace them for the second time now in 2 years.
      A very very crappy design choice in a laptop that cost a little under $2K USD. I will never buy ASUS ever again.
