it's a 2 stroke engine ;) 2 stroke engines give you the impression that it's going at very high rpm right because it's a 2 stroke and not a 4 stroke... so at 3000 rpm, it sounds like if it's going at 6000

I have the same truck and engine. it works not to bad. Mine is a lot rougher shape than yours is.
