      It's a shame that WCW Mayhem 2 was cancelled and a 3rd ECW game would've been done by another development company. Unfortunately, that game was never even thought of.

    I was very excited that you covered the Taxi Driver game. I read some articles stating that the game was supposed to be an expansion to the events of the fim & some details like if Travis killed pedestrians it would affect his mental health & ultimately commit suicide. I also found the execution system to be interesting eventhough the executions looked very goofy & unrealistic. I spoke to some hardcore fans of the film about this game & some didn’t like it because they felt that the game didn’t translate the films plot very well & doesn’t feel very taxi driver like. I haven’t watched the film, only saw clips of it, but i found the game to be very entertaining. What do you think?

    • @onaretrotip
      @onaretrotip  4 года назад +2

      I think I'd agree that the game doesn't necessarily fit in line with Travis in the film; but I haven't played it, so can't really say. Love the film though!

    There are actually 3 Released PC Versions of "The Lost", each for a different market, each with a different name and each with a different main character. "Agni: Queen of Darkness" was, as mentioned in the video, the original Indian release. "Inferno: Where Death is your only Ally" was a East European release of the game and finally "NetherWorld: Beyond Time I Stand" is proper English release of the game, though I'm not sure in which markets that one was released.

  • @barry-allenthe-flash8396
    @barry-allenthe-flash8396 5 лет назад +2

    I'll never know why _StarGate_ doesn't get treated like, say, a _Batman Arkham_ game - it's a whole universe. Doesn't need to tied to any specific TV show, movie, or project; just make a video game _specific_ version of it all, that's got all the pillars people want from a _Stargate_ project. Someday, I hope someone attempts one again, and actually gets it done.
    Also, that story about JoWood and _Aquanox_ was CRAZY. I've heard of that game, but didn't know about why it was cancelled, or that they put in some bugs on purpose to buy themselves some more time to finish it. I've also heard of _GhostWorld_ by Z-Axis, but haven't heard of it in a few years - this is the first time I actually ever saw footage of it. Once again, you're killin' it with your research on these videos, buddy :)
    It's also just crazy to see stuff like _Deadlight_ in general, since *you just know* that kind of thing would've been made as an indie production nowadays. Heck, it's far more ambitious than most indie horror games nowadays, what with that whole "ecosystem of creatures" stuff and the vulnerability to different wavelengths of light - that is wild, original-ass stuff there! Some of these are real heart-breaking to hear about.
    I'm sure you've already heard of it, but in case you haven't, whenever you do another PS2 cancelled games video, you should look into _Silent Chaos._ It was going to be the sequel to an obscure PC adventure called _Dark Earth_ by French developer, Kalisto, who also did the _Nightmare Creatures_ games. What I found interesting about this is that Square picked it up for publishing, and they took special interest in it, going so far as to have Tetsuya Nomura redesign all the characters and the title took on an anime bent, visually. As far as I know, that's the only time they've ever thrown some of their Japanese talent at a western game.

    • @onaretrotip
      @onaretrotip  5 лет назад +1

      Yeah, I agree. Stargate has such a rich lore and vast universe and characters, that it's perfect for a video game franchise. Weird, seeing as all the big sci-fi franchises have numerous games (Star Wars, Star Trek, etc) and Stargate is pretty big (having the film, ten seasons of SG-1, plus Atlantis, Universe, etc).
      Fingers crossed that one day it happens. In an ideal world I'd absolutely love a Fallout/Elder Scrolls style adventure game in the Stargate universe; that would be amazing.
      I love the concepts in Deadlight; some really interesting gameplay mechanics there.
      Not heard of Silent Chaos, but sounds interesting. I'll look it up. Thanks!

    I can't say I ever watched Stargate SG1 but the footage you showed was undoubtedly impressive, which makes it all the stranger that it ended up being cancelled. As you say the set up for the show just fits a video game format, with infinite scope for level environments. Looks like it might've been something that could've challenged Halo for the PS2.
    Falcone sounded like an interesting idea but maybe one that was a generation too soon, I couldn't really see the PS2 being able to do all of the space combat and FPS pirate missions and still be a satisfying experience.
    Deadlight looked like an interesting one, offering something unique with its tweaks on the traditional FPS. It seems a lot of the others on the list might've been more generic PS2 titles, sticking more closely to what had already proved popular on the console.
    Hokuto No Ken looked great, definitely would've been nice to see that one although I'm guessing God Hand came close enough to scratching that particular itch. Still would've been nice to see though, especially with all the fan service included.

    • @onaretrotip
      @onaretrotip  5 лет назад

      Yeah, Stargate seems perfect for a video game series, it's weird it never happened (beyond the average game on SNES/MD, although they were based on the film).
      Hokuto no Ken would have been one on my radar for sure back them. Still, there have been some pretty decent FOTNS games since!
      Thanks, Owen.

    Of all the canceled PlayStation 2 games in your video, I'm really disappointed that Hokuto No Ken: Legend of the Final Hero, The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, Project Dagger, Orchid, and Capcom Fighting All-Stars didn't get released. I'm surprised to even hear that the would-have-been HNK game was handled by a developer outside of Japan. A bit sad most of these games were cancelled. That Fear And Respect game as well as Asylum and Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse (EDIT: Deadlands seems awesome too.) all sounded unique and maybe even thrilling.
    I think I have a good idea on what Asylum was about when you mentioned "game show." I believe it was like Manhunt - where you were supposed to be the star of a snuff film and you had to survive against the worst possible people in existence as well as escaped asylum inmates. Would've been interesting if it was released. There may have been many reasons why Asylum wasn't released. I don't know why it wasn't although if I had to guess it may have been concerns of potential controversy and fear people wouldn't like it and that it would be called a Manhunt ripoff.
    FHOTA (Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse) was probably cancelled because like Asylum - the devs may have feared it being called a ripoff of Devil May Cry (never played DMC, though I did play Van Helsing which received criticisms even today that it's a DMC ripoff.) FHOTA seemed good and it reminds me a hell of a lot of Van Helsing. Very similar to BloodRayne as well (FYI BloodRayne was either produced or developed by Majesco, or maybe even both if that's even possible. That includes it's sequel.)
    I think you might be able to find these cancelled games on old PS2/Xbox devkits but the odds of finding them are 1 in 100 I would think especially if they weren't leaked or let alone developed.

During development they scrapped PS2 version leaving it Xbox exclusive, if i remember correctly 🤔 It was cancelled because sadly Kalisto Entertainment went bankrupt in 2002 😕 That was the biggest disappointment regarding any cancelled game in the history for me as i loved Nightmare Creatures 1 & 2 ❤️ Later i heard Ubisoft bought rights to the series but they never released anything using those rights. I don't know if they still have those rights 🤔 Would love to see new Nightmare Creatures game in the future for PS5 (or PS6 and so on...) 🙏
