I was thinking the same. Back to my days in the fleet. When the times were good it was good. Watching the most beautiful sunsets and sunrises. No drills, no GQ alarms. Just being there in the moment with yourself. Clear head, no worries.

Thanks for a most enlightening series of videos from someone who first went to sea in the UK Merchant Navy before joining the Royal Navy and receiving a commission. Buddy... been binging your videos this evening. What a find this channel is. Wonderful videos and point of view. Personally I am a deck officer, british cert, norwegian born and raised. Worked on maersk container ships for a while before moving to search and rescue in norway. Transitioning to offshore work now. Love your videos. Lovely to see the AB perspective. You guys are the backbone of the ship man. Us pencil pushers and compass botherers can't do without you ❤
Glad your finally underway. The way I see it, you and I have something in common. I drive a truck in Westchester County NY doing PU and delivery of freight. Were both responsible for the movement of freight ,. you move it across the ocean, I deliver it to the consumer. It's a long chain and were all just links in that chain. Peace
You are legit really good at this. Your videography is phenomenal, your editing is awesome, and your voiceovers are fantastic as well. And per one of your other videos, don't be afraid to go long, as I for one know I like the longer stuff. Keep it up man! *edit: and I think the plant/rugs are sweet too.

It seems like most RUclips creators seem to make 20-30 minute videos but a lot of times I only have 10 minutes to sit down a watch so I end up abandoning good channels that are just too long. Hey! I’m about to finish my application to Piney Point today after getting the clean bill of health from my dentist. Obviously I’m as green as it can get and then some. So I have tons of questions about “the life”. Wondering if you can answer just two. When you sign onto a ship, is that kind of time in a ship yard stipulated within the contract, or is that just extra time with the ship, so extra pay? And how long will you be on the ship now that you’re heading back to sea?
Depends on the ship really, I work on Superyachts, bit different to Joes kinda work but still a seafarer at sea… Being at sea is amazing it’s definitely for me a passion. 🙏

Many bulk carriers in ballast sail to Nova Scotia to take a load of aggregates. For us seamen, it means loading. I would say they are going to Aulds Cove. I have been there a few times when I was a seaman.

I so love your stay calm way. It helps me to relax a bit in my own taking care of mom 24/7. I’ve traveled on the Chesapeake bay with wild experiences but also helped put the ceiling tiles in the simulator room and some other things at Piney Point when it was built. Ya never know when paths cross. So nice to meet you.

You`re right - a ship is meant to be put to sea, and it always made me edgy just before we were pulling the gangway cause I really looked forward to putting her to sea. Ports of call are good, sure, but with nobody around you at sea, it`s great.
