Made 8 of these this weekend for my mess of a basement. Lined all the bikes up at a 45 against the wall. Made it out of 3/4” and adjusted the space for 1.5” wheels up to 2.8”. Also went to 24” height for my 29er. Worked great!! Sand was definitely required for the lighter pipe. Only got to one paint job but they are really great, easy and flexible. Thanks so much for the video!

Out of all the designs available on the tube this looked the best, so I built one for my 29er MTB, only difference I made was that I used 25mm pvc and I filled it with water to give it weight , works like a beaut.
    Thanks Chris.

I made a couple of these over the weekend. Cut the pipe to 18" for all four of the long segments. I also cut several short pieces to 1.75" to use as connectors. Filled the bottom with sand to keep it sturdy. Works great!

First: You are a genius inventor. Thanks for the idea. Just got back from Home Depot. The stick of PVC was $5.11, Two elbows were $2.50, six T's were about $9. four caps were $3.60. Not counting the heater hose, glue and the sand the total is over $20. A two-bike stand from Target was almost $40.00. Decided to go with a professional.

DanceLessonsOrlando You could make a rack out of STEEL conduit pipe for a few dollars. Cheaper and stronger.

    Chris,
Thanks for sharing this. I recently built one of a different design, and it WORKS, but doesn't hold the bike nearly securely as yours does. So I built another one, very similar to yours, using your tips, and it's MUCH better. Oh, I used 1" PVC, and it is plenty sturdy enough for my needs.
BTW, the first one wasn't wasted... I gave it to a friend.

I think this is the one I'm going to use. The other ones I've looked at use more pipe and fittings and take up more space. This is holding the bike just fine.
    Thank you!

Thanks for this idea. My son and I made one except we designed it for four bikes so we can use it in the back of our truck. Same design as yours except we pretty much just connected three more to it. Works great. We used 1" since ours was going to be much longer and heavier. Your measurements worked perfect. Only difference is we used 2" length PVC to connect everything and for two of the bikes we used 25" tall PVC since we have two bikes that are 29r's.

great idea---maybe if you were to add a piece of plywood and strap it down to your bike stand,,,, that way there will be more weight on the stand so when you pull it out it will not move on you...... just a thought... thanks again for sharing.....

The author's cost calculations are right on. Between Lowe's and Home Depot you should be able to buy:
    1 x [3/4" x 10' PVC schedule 40 pipe] for $2.25
    2 x [3/4" "L" joint] for $0.70
10 pack of [3/4" "T" joints] for $2.49 (hunt around for the 10-pack
    4 x [3/4" caps] for $1.56
There are cheap and expensive versions of the "L" and "T" joints. Buy the cheap ones. Also, buy the 10' long PVC pipe and cut it down.
You need to buy the cement. A ratchet-style PVC cutter is very helpful.

How about cutting the top between the 90s in half, drill a hole and put a skewer through to snug it up once the wheel is in there. Might look cool and make it useable for different widths?

Do you mind posting all the specific parts here as a list, and how much it costs altogether, I know you mentioned it in the video but I think this is a great idea and might be easier for your fans to read and bring it as a list to the hardware store. Thanks

Just finished mine I made it out of 1" pvc because its cheaper. You will need more than 10 feet so grab a 10 foot piece and a small 2 foot piece.
