In this video I take the family out in our Modified 2018 Isuzu Mu-x to tackle some soft sandy trails and find an epic spot for lunch. We begin out journey in the Great Sandy National Park at Poverty Point. The 4x4 track to poverty point consists of soft sand and epic coastal bushland. The area is covered with eucalyptus, banksia bottle brush, grass trees and other amazing native trees. The 4wd track in to Poverty Point is approximately 6.5km.
In the Isuzu Mu-x I am running Falken Wildpeak AT3 all terrain tyres which I lowered the tyre pressure down to 20PSI. With the tyre pressures down it increased the tyre foot print to give the vehicle a lot more traction in the soft sand. It is important to remember to bring an air compressor with you though to air up the tyres when you are heading back onto the bitumen.
Once we finished the Poverty Point 4wd track we were welcomed with an amazing spot right on the river. We parked up and set up the awning to give some shelter from the sun. Being winter in Australia the temperature was around 27 degrees during the day which was still quite nice. The water in the river was like glass as you can see the reflection of the clouds in the water. You could also hear the sounds of birds and cicadas as we relaxed by the river.
I setup my Ironman 4x4 2.5m x 2.5m awning which sets up in under 2 minutes and then we got stuck into cooking some lunch. The Ecoflow River pro is the battery station that we have been using and it has been awesome! Its has a 720Wh Lithium Battery pack which means if only weighs in at arou 7.5kg. Even though it is light it can still pack a punch, with built in 600w inverter, 12v sockets, UsB sockets and an LED light the River pro has everything you need. The Ecoflow river pro also has an Xboost function which means it can actually run appliances up to 1800w. This came in handy when we cooked the girls up some toasties and also made ourselves a nice sausage sizzle with an amazing backdrop.
The ECOFLOW River Pro can be recharged via 12v charging, 240v charging or solar charging and is a great alternative to an expensive and complicated dual battery system. The unit is basically plug and play and just needs to be tied down in the vehicle. It has all of the necessary safety features built in and a full smart battery management system.
