I started with Western Stars in the late sixties when these were popular fleet trucks and far from pretty albeit functional and reliable. They are today one of the, if not the nicest tractors being produced. The interior, especially the instrument panel layout with individual gauges neatly clustered and switch banks all in one place put all the other manufacturers to shame. Western Star has figured out that truckers want to continue to drive trucks. Paccar, Daimler and the rest want you to believe that you need the latest fad in instrumentation integration. Also, I never did enjoy sharing my cab space with half of the engine. Keep that out front and under the hood not jamming my throttle foot out the door. This one in the video is a sharp looking truck and I would think, not hard to work in all day.

It’s a beautiful truck. Only thing to make it better would be a 6NZ CAT & 8 inch stacks. If you’re gonna look that good might as well have power & sound. Would be awesome glider.

WS is a Canadian semi-hand assembled truck, and Canadians use km/h since 1977/ You can find as mph values as a "Km/h" label there
You American truckers are spoilled rotten.I am a dutch truckdriver and we are driving fcking porta potti's cause of european lenght regulations.Our bunks are 80 cm.thats less than 3 feet .Our engines goes up to 700 ore 800 HP. So we have power but you guys have the looks and the comfort. I wanna trade all day long.
Indeed stupid European rules. I drove A Peterbilt 379 once and that comfort and space.... NExt day i had to drive a DAF i had to get out of that garbage.. .WAAAY too small.
Some of our trucks can get up in to the 600 to 800 range..

It would be 100% with the Detroit transmission on the worlds best diesel engine, not a crappy Fuller
Crappy? You are a moron or just can not use Eaton? :D lol Worlds best manual transmission for trucks! I am european driver, but the best manual gearbox i even use, was an 13 speed Fuller. And the best automated manual is the I-Shift from Volvo. And i love to use it!
I drove a Cascadia with Fuller At and then I got a Cascadia with detroit Dt, Its as good as the I shift..
To the intelligent people that design the interior of trucks......there is no place to set anything on the dash.....2 cupholders...where do I put my sandwich or set my sunglasses down for a second? everything is flat
You don't eat inside a nice truck like that, you eat inside a restaurant. If you run at night, you won't need sunglasses or you can easily hang them on your shirt collar, pocket, sun visor etc.

The dash is not a shelf to be cluttered up with junk. Man, ya see some of them with notebooks, log books, pens, CDs, sunglasses, sandwiches and greasy dust all piled up...it's disgusting.

Nobody wants that inferior piece of junk, stars are made by the total king of junk, freightliner, the only trucks that should even be on the road are peterbilt and kenworth
Well Kevin, both trucks you mention (basically one and the same from Paccar) are nice looking machines from the outside but I know from many past experiences with one of those brands, they don;t hold up all that well when subjected to inferior road and poor pavement conditions constantly. My cabover was popping rivets on a never ending basis and absolutely everything mounted in the interior managed to un-mount itself well within the first year. I still admire a good looking 389 Pete passing by but would never personally consider spending my money on something that shoddy. No sir, if I have o run on moonscape highways, I want all of the truck to be there when I get home, not scattered all over the nation.
