  • Wall Pushups ➡️ One-Arm Pushups: Here's how.
In this video, I break down how Double Progression Calisthenics can used to scale pushups from very easy to very difficult.
Here are the progressions used and the goals:
    Therapy:
    Wall Pushups (3 x 50)
    Chest High Incline Pushups (3 x 40)
    Fitness:
    Hip High Incline Pushups (2 x 35)
    Kneeling Pushups (2 x 30)
    Full Pushups (2 x 25)
    Strength:
    Arrowhead Pushups (2 x 25)
    Archer Pushups (2 x 20)
    One-Arm Pushups (2 x 9)
    Serpent Pushups (2 x 9)
Notes: This took a little longer to edit than I would have liked. Next videos will probably be shorter and I will eventually revise everything.
This is the video #4 in the #HyCal Fitness Course. More to come.
Legal Notice: Consult a physician before beginning any exercise program. This video does not replace a doctor's visit or physical therapy program.

    • @HybridCalisthenics
      @HybridCalisthenics  3 года назад +38

Planche pushups are indeed very difficult and impressive! However, the reason I don't include them in a pushup progression is because I think they belong more in a planche progression. In my opinion, the majority of the benefit of planche pushups lies in the benefit of planches themselves. Planches are not necessarily great at building pushing strength despite their difficulty. I hope that makes sense!

@@21xxx21 Yeah, I’ve found that Planche push-ups have an insane amount of strength transfer. I never worked on “one-Arm push-ups” and simply worked on the Planche Push-up progressions that I posted a video of on my channel and one-arm push-ups were a free gain - no direct training was necessary to do multiple. I LOVE this channel. It has motivated me to begin working out again, after having done NO exercise for at least 7 months. Earlier this year when I was exercising fairly regularly, I could do at least 60 standard pushups in sets of 20, and sometimes 30 reps at a time, 3 times per week. Then when covid hit and life went a bit pear shaped, I stopped working out. A few days ago, I thought the kneeling pushups would be a good place to begin with my new strength plan. I almost died after only 12 push-ups. Even a 10-minute rest only gave me enough energy to do 3 more. I will no longer call them 'girl' push-ups (I'm a guy), because they are much harder than I thought they'd be :D
My goal is now 2 sets of 30 kneeling push-ups, as Hampton suggests. Thanks Hampton, for your calm motivation.

When i saw this months ago, i gave it a try. Before starting with the easier variations, i tried to do regular pushups and only managed 3 reps, now im working on my diamond pushups. This was really helpful!!

I love you variation for the Diamond pushups because like you I can feel a bit of strain on my elbows after a few reps so I’m definitely going to try your style of doing them

Even tho you said you had to redo this at the end, I love the scuffed energy, how as long you just get it done, it's already fine, doesn't have to look glamorous or cool, just get it done.

I've only been able to do 5 pushups in a row and that's always made me not want to exercise. Your method though makes it more approachable. Much love

Thanks so much for these. I am a former trainer and had a strained tricep 9 years ago that I’ve been babying all this time. This is a great video with progressions for me to mentally build back my strength as well as physically

I absolutely love your videos and think you give some great advice, even as a former personal trainer and experienced exercise enthusiast I always gain something new from each of your videos. Keep doing what you’re doing because I thoroughly enjoy it and see great value in it. I was hoping you might do a review of some “perfect push-up” like products and give some insights on how you feel they can benefit someone as they advance to higher levels of calisthenics.
    -A Very Thankful Viewer
