Wheat is the most effective food source via bakeries, when you multiple food sources people are happier, and growing hops allows for higher taxes. Get iron and stone going quickly. Hope enjoyed playing this game I have in the past
huh, It looks exactly the way it looked back in the day (through the eyes of gamers back then) but I'm sceptical how much of the actual issues of SH this adresses, becasue the problem with playing SH in 2023 is not that it looks a bit grainy but that many gameplay "features" are dated or simply bad. The good thing about Crusader was not the new campaign, the sandy biome or how farms were now limited to oasis(which admitedly is an interesting gameplay concept) but that you always had a market, mercenaries and a god damn skirmish mode! Firefly have been missing the mark for twenty years, not understanding why SH/SHC succeded and replicating all the wrong things, while introducing hot garbage to the formula. This seems like a very cautious approach which is good for a studio so prone to get lost in the woods but considering how decent SHC still looks, I'd rather just use hamachi to play that with my buddy. - also Firefly, why can't you make a stronghold game with more than one biome?
Omg! Someone actually learned to keep the stuff that makes a fun game?!? The last ver ad ion seemed so broken, I could barley play it. This looks good!

Hey, it's col FireFly actually does something sensible with the Stronghold IP after years of mediocre titles, but did they really just dare to change the bookholder in the bottom right from my old aged pal to some random young schmuk? The audacity I tell ya.
Looks just like a remake but the graphics aren't even "better" didn't they do a HD version of this so basically it is the same? Ok maybe we are missing a lot of new features as mentioned MP and the castle trail. Though to be honest new graphics and animation should have been paid attention to and the mechanics that were impossible back in the day.
When is the release date? At least they didn't screw with the mechanics and just improved on the graphics. Seems like Firefly F'd up Warlords. I don't know why developers makes a game that's good, builds a following and then breaks the model. Same thing with Baldur's Gate 3. Took away real time with pause.
I mean.. What they tryin to remake? 😅 It's all seem the same. Except for the graphics that a bit smoother. But then again, the reason why stronghold success is, back then, few of RTS games. The only competition is with Age of Empires and Command & Conquer but it's not a competition since they all different. But now... many RTS games released already... Stronghold crusader need to be released with more new features to compete.

Fool me once.. But yes, this gives me a strong sense of deja-vu with the number of remakes and remasters. I guess it's business to give a little polish and sell the same game over and over again, but nostalgia only goes so far. I'm guessing this won't be a $9.99 game either. It's a shame, because 30 years ago(?) I sank a lot of time into this game, but technology has moved on, as have castle defence games.

Looks like a slightly crisper version of Stronghold HD. Probably not worth the money.
Puts castle below the hill. Then strategically placed woodcutter's on the top of the hill so trees had no chance against them.
I am so excited, this game is just fantastic, the original stronghold is my favorite of all of them

My main thing with Stronghold was always scale. It always felt so claustrophobic which after 2 or 3 matches would turn me away.
