Hare Krishna. Wonderful video. I thank you for this service. I was wondering, if you could provide the names of the singers and numbers of the bhajans sung in this video.

Hare Krishna Speedydcosta. Yes, this is called abhisheka in sanskrit. It refers to a holy bath given to divine deities, even the guru. It is an act of worship as the guru is the link to Godhead and higher knowledge, and as His representative is given all honor due to God Himself, just as a King's representative is given respect due to the King when he visits a foreign land.
Sometimes abhishekas are only done for the feet of the guru, as the worship of his feet are considered representative of service. Some abhishekas consist of only water, other of five items (panchaabhisheka) such as milk, yogurt, ghee, fruit juices and water.
Overall, this is an ancient system from bygone ages continued by followers of authentic Vedic culture even today, though our Western minds and conditioning doesn't make sense of it.
