    Hello, I have a correction of -2.25 and I'm 16 and a half. The problem is that they'll never let me wear glasses with an under-correction of -2.00 for distance vision, but I can stop wearing my glasses for near vision, which I'm starting to do. And I'd like to know if I apply the advice below, which I'm about to quote, I could still stop my myopia at -2.25 at present. 1: use the computer instead of the telephone for 1 hour a day. 2: do active concentration by looking at an object in the distance for 20 min and 3 times a week 3:never use my glasses for near vision
    And I have one last question: if I normally apply all the above advice and start wearing a -2.00 under-correction, will it really improve? Because I'm afraid it's going to get worse.

      @@Mygary Do you measure your progress with an eye chart? I found doing this consistently kept me honest with myself. I recorded what I could see and would test myself again in 2 weeks or a month. If I made progress, then great. If I regressed, then I knew I needed to change some eye habits. For example, I found (and still find) long sessions on the phone to give me ciliary spasm. So, I would minimise phone use and increase the amount of active focus I would do in a day, and then I was back to making progress.
      There were times when I was obsessed with it. I would look at my eye chart for 20 - 30 minutes every morning with my coffee and breakfast. Then I would also go for a 30-60 minute walk and active focus on things in the distance. If I did these things and minimised phone use in the day, my eyes felt great and I could tangibly notice my vision improving.

    • @Mygary

      @@seeclearly I use an eyechart, I see the 20/70 line indoors lighting, have had outdoor "active focus" kick ins I guess or maybe clear flashes that I could see 20/20 or 20/15 in. I just feel like my eyes either get back into ciliary spasm super easily, and can have big fuctuations. I'm not giving up, but I feel like I'm having the slowest progress ever, also not sure if I even do active focus right, sometimes I feel like I am just always active focusing already? I'm going to stick with it, this is definitely a rabbit hole that once you have delved down you don't simply go back.

    • @Dom4z
      @Dom4z 6 месяцев назад

      Nobody knows, no research on this what so ever. But what active focus does is teaches you to control your eyes to zoom on will after you've done it a lot. (i suspect it's ciliary muscle adjusting your lense to flatten out) It's like using binoculars and adjusting them to clear out the blur to see sharp image. That might be the biological stimulus that signals your brain on how you should be seeing.

    How Much Time Does It Take To Find Active Focus? Any Idea, If Anyone Doing Daily 2 To 3 Hours Daily Practice

    • @seeclearly
      @seeclearly  8 месяцев назад +3

      Some people find almost instantly. Others take a week, others take a month. If you haven't found active focus, my advice would be to just spend 10 mins per session trying to find it looking at text that is slightly blurry. Blink often. You should get moments where the text clears up.
      Once you get brief moments of clarity, that is active focus.

    • @seeclearly

      If your issues with distance were lens induced then there's a good chance you can work on it. So, if you could see clearly into the distance at some point in your life before you started wearing glasses for distance, then it may work.
      For close-up work, I don't have any personal experience as I've never been hyperopic or presbyopic but I wouldn't be surprised if these principles helped with that too.

    • @seeclearly
      @seeclearly  8 месяцев назад

      Absolutely. I would try getting some normalised glasses for distance. These would leave just a little bit of blur for distance which you can clear up with active focus. These are usually between 0.25 and 0.75 diopters less than your full prescription - it depends on the person. Also, when not wearing any glasses, try to learn how to active focus on things that are just at the edge of your blur horizon.

  • @sukhibains8218
    @sukhibains8218 8 месяцев назад

    What do you mean "clear up" with active focus?

    • @seeclearly
      @seeclearly  8 месяцев назад

      When doing active focus on text or objects that are just slightly blurry, they usually go from blurry to clear. This is what I mean by "clear up". At the beginning this clearing up is sporadic but after some practice it becomes relatively easy to clear things up. The key is to practice on things that are just on the edge of your blur horizon. Edge of blur horizon = slightly blurry. Using text as an example, you would look at text that is slightly blurry but you are still able to read it.

    • @susanfouts9686
      @susanfouts9686 8 месяцев назад

      What I like for astigmatism is "drawing" circles with my eyes. If you look at the letter O in a book, you know the entire O is black, but part of it looks gray. I will pause while I am reading and make my eyes follow the O in a circle, thinking about how the O is black. You might have to do this many times before the entire O looks black for a brief moment.

    • @seeclearly
      @seeclearly  8 месяцев назад

      It depends on your astigmatism. If the astigmatism is genuine astigmatism caused by misshapen cornea, then no. However, if it is leans-induced astigmatism (astigmatism brought about by wearing glasses with spherical correction) I would suggest trying the techniques in the "How I Fixed My Astigmatism" video which touches on it. For more detailed info, my course Eyes On The Prize details how to improve myopia and lens-induced astigmatism.

      @seeclearly  6 месяцев назад +1

      It depends but doing 10-15 minutes a day is a good start.
      Also, cutting out bad eye habits is just as important - it's nearly impossible to make progress if you're spending hours stuck in close-up looking at videos on your phone.

    • @user-cc8cx8gt9w
      @user-cc8cx8gt9w 6 месяцев назад

      By the way, I know you shouldn't use your glasses up close, reduce your screen time and use active focus. But I wanted to know if the transition to 0.25 under-correction comes naturally; will the eye then adapt? If you apply the advice above, will you move to the lower undercorrection and improve?
      I've heard people say that they're improving thanks to under-correction and all that, but I wanted to know the process by which the eye gets used to this new correction? It's a bit like when you've worsened your near vision with negative lenses, except that it's another habit that the eye undergoes?

    • @seeclearly
      @seeclearly  6 месяцев назад

      @@user-cc8cx8gt9w I wouldn't overthink it. A 0.25 dioptre difference is not a lot. The best way to find out is to try it.

      To be fair, when I first encountered active focus in 2017, I tried it and couldn't get it. I tried it on and off for a year and didn't get it. Then in 2019 when on a walk on my lunch break from work, I was looking at antennas in the distance which were on the top of buildings. The antennas were slightly blurry. I then remembered this thing called active focus. I thought to myself, "what if I just consciously focus on one antenna for 10 minutes as I walk". Lo and behold, the antenna cleared up eventually. I was astonished and excited. Then when I got back to the office I tried reading text on a poster on the wall that was slightly blurry and it also cleared up - eventually. Over the course of the following few weeks I went on the same walk and looked at the same poster and my ability to active focus got better and better and I started to really make good progress.
