No matter your level of success or fame, some things just stick. Some people just have an ability to shake things like that off and maybe not even recognise it as a weird thing, but if you do think it’s an extremely weird thing, it’s gonna stick. Might not affect you, but the memory is weird enough that you won’t forget it. I’ve had my fair share of weird encounters over the years and they pop up every now and then not because I hold some kind of grudge or anything but just because of how weird they were. That’s how memory works.

My girlfriend insulted him backstage at an Austrian SP gig once. He was apparently being rude and pompous, telling people around him not to talk to him because he needed to preserve his vocals, and my partner, who was dating a member of a supporting band at the time, said something like "why? What is there to preserve?" To which Billy responded "f**K you, you gothic b**ch." His crew then laughed and said "good one" to my girlfriend.

I waited in line for more than 3 hours in the late 90s to see the Pumpkins play a free concert in a local record store. Got to meet Billy and the band after the show. It should have been great to meet him, but he was a complete asshole. Never meet your heroes. The rest of the band were very nice.

Billy Corgan is a phenomenal musician and he and Kurt shouldn't be compared. They are different people with different minds. I love Kurt but I also very much love Billy. They are both beautiful people.

If you don't play the guitar yourself, it's hard to understand just how innovative and great Cobain was as a musician. The amount of thought and effort put into his guitar setup alone, the customization of the guitars themselves, every part playing a role in creating that guitar sound,even the amps he used, down to the particular speakers that were only used for a couple years in the 60s that are almost impossible to find- and selling for a high price when you find them-unless you can understand this and then hear the instruments being played with no accompaniment... Nevermind the fact that he fused punk rock and the Beatles to create a whole new genre of music that Continues to inspire to this day.. no, Kurt was light years ahead of billy Corgan, and Im sure billy knows it... There's a guy on RUclips that has made a series of.videos documenting his journey to find and recreate Kurt Cobain's various guitar setups from the 3 different albums and the subsequent tours, they are super interesting to watch...

He also didn't invent anything. Pumpkins, Soundgarden, Meat Puppets and Alice In Chains were light years ahead of Nirvana. Cobain was too self destructive to be a good role model. He was weak and allowed a woman to dominate him. Thats why he died young and the others went on to have a career.

My girlfriend insulted Billy backstage at an Australian SP gig once. He was apparently being rude and pompous, telling people around him not to talk to him because he needed to preserve his vocals, and my partner, who was dating a member of a supporting band at the time, said something like "why? What is there to preserve?" To which Billy responded "f**K you, you gothic b**ch." His crew then laughed and said "good one" to my girlfriend.

There are a lot of comments from people who clearly do not understand the history of Billy and Kurt. Kurt was a massive stumbling block in Billy’s life for many reasons, and yet he still has the humility to admit that Kurt was the most talented person of their generation.
