    It's a strange balance you have to have in corporate America but the truth is they were consultants on a contract, the contract is now over and they are no longer needed. The union they belong to isn't official or recognized and only represents Google employess, which they are not. Nicest way I can say it is....they wasted their energy on a deadend situation they weren't going to win and had no leverage. You can't just call yourself a Google employee and force the company to make you one by being as difficult as possible. On the other hand Google was extremely cold to do this without doing a better job of explaining whats happening and why it's happening. But the consultants really were there to do a job and the job is now over, they had no weight to push around.

      @@petejones6827 "being responsible and not agreeing to bad working conditions": I'm not sure what you mean. Employers are responsible for low wages and bad working conditions. Governments are responsible for creating an economic and regulatory environment that favours businesses over their workers, such as in minimum wage levels, making it very hard for workers to organise, poor or non-existent enforcement of health and safety laws, combating rampant wage theft and so on. Workers have little power in their working lives - what control does a worker have over pay, hours of work, sick leave, holidays etc.?
      There is no such thing as a free market. The prevalence of monopolies or near-monopolies, encouraged by government policies, benefits the tiny proportion of the population that steals the value workers create (called 'profits'), not the customers. Socialism works to end the profit system, a change which would greatly increase the prosperity and well-being of the whole working class.

    I've been in the M&A (mergers and acquisitions) business for a while and young people have to understand there are very big differences between contractors (solo or 3rd party provided) and FTEs (full time employees). They do not have the same legal protections.

    • @jaimemartinez9792
      @jaimemartinez9792 4 месяца назад +13

      @@Wallasmod One of the biggest differences is that FTEs 'normally' get full company benefits (whatever that company offers). Contractors 'normally' don't get company benefits unless they are working for a 3rd party contracting company. But even then, it is up to the 3rd party company to provide those benefits and that is dependent on the terms of services that you sign with that 3rd party. If you are an independent contractor then you most likely will not receive any benefits at all and you will have to pay things like PTO, maternity leave, and healthcare out of your own pocket. This is part of the reason contractors are more expensive than FTEs, but in exchange, you can replace contractors easier.

    Bite the hand that feeds you and you might end up laid off......

    Imma be honest. I downloaded youtube music because it was includded with my you tube premium. But i rarely use it. And when i need to play music, i just go to spotify. And i can use you tube premium in the background and while the phone off. So from a bussiness side, its just a waate of space imo

    There's a recession coming around the mountain when it comes. All the indicators are pointing to it now. Inflation is high, and layoffs are rampant. So, based on history, there's a recession coming around the mountain when it comes

      True. My dad called this out last year... He told me expect layoffs to happen. They will get worse before they get better. Save money now and always have at least a 6 month cushion. I've had many friends involved in mass layoffs that have been looking for jobs in their fields for over a year now. Unemployment only lasts for a short time. It's also not enough to sober even menial bills.... In my state it's a whopping $340 a week (that's the most someone can get for unemployment) .... If they made above 300% of the poverty level. Average apartment rent here is $1,500 to $2k for a 2 bed apartment, So just imagine....

    These people ARE NOT Google employees. They're Cognizant employees. They have no right to be asking Google for a raise. Also they didn't get laid off. Their contract expired. They're still employed by Cognizant, they're just not working on RUclips Music anymore.
