I feel like it would be a lot harder, because you have to come up with an obvious rhyme, and then say something else entirely. So like, two things at once 😳
honestly the times Jess breaks in the show are so funny and I wave them around to people who think the show isn't improv. Jess wouldn't keep breaking down laughing if this stuff wasn't being made up on the spot
@@icymoons the folks who think shows like these aren't improv deserve as much energy spent refuting/trying to convince them as do folks who think the Earth is flat.
@@markc.7984It actually might be pretty funny if it turned out that Brennan knew the Make Some Noise prompts ahead of time since he never says he hasn't at the beginning of the episodes.
love how he said “perch up on the walls and on the bars” and both Jess and Zach turned around and leave frame one after the other to perch on the wall and the bars.
Ross' intense speces out stares while not rhyming is great. Also them keeping to bird related "rhymes" is so much more surplus brain power, than I could ever manage in less chaotic situations.
Can confirm as a Dropout subscriber this is complete improv and these captions were just added for the youtube clip to show ppl what the improved rhyme would be and how they pivoted per the prompt!
Still one of my absolute all-time favourite songs from Play It By Ear! It just has such a wonderful vibe that makes me want it to never end, I could listen to these fake-out rhymes for hours! Although, I would also LOVE to hear how the song would've actually sounded with the original set-up rhymes too!
The pure talent on this show is astounding.... Not only do they have to improvise an entire song, they have to make up stuff that makes sense, as (false) "rhymes" for the thing that should have rhymed in the first place (that they also made up and just scrapped on the fly). That is a level that I could never be on, and one that I am and will always be forever jealous of!!!
@@math9172 It was in the very first episode, the Humpty Dumpty one and yes, it was amazing. I think that episode was what finally sold me to a dropout subscription.
Would luv to see the clip from the elevator pitch episode, NOTHING, EVERYTHING, CHILDREN GLASS! when Jess loses it singing 'a portrait of a child on a pane of glass'😅
That episode has got to be my favorite, but I haven't seen all of them. It's just one of the most chaotic and fun episodes and I feel like whenever they have just Ross and/or Zeke as a guest they can let everything out.
I seriously think these guys are the greatest improvisers of all time. Good Improv is already hard but to improv songs, with a plot, and random gimmicks and challenges added in... Jfc
saw a short of this months ago, thought it was a Game Changer prompt and have been thinking about it for months. so glad i finally googled it and found the full version!
Yo! What's the situation? What's goin' on? Well then, let me explain it to you through this number. While you've been cooped up your entire lives, Us three out here been strugglin' to sur-stain ourselves!
It's even funnier to see them fighting their instincts to finish each other's rhymes like they usually do
Ross really came out swinging with “bereft of life”
For some reason, the delivery of "a morning dove" is the thing that sends me cackling in this one
It had that "um actually" feeling of someone pointing out that the bird their friend called a pigeon was actually a morning dove.
It really feels like rhyming comes so natural to them that they have to put in more effort to not accidentally do it.
I feel like it would be a lot harder, because you have to come up with an obvious rhyme, and then say something else entirely. So like, two things at once 😳
I beleive they said on the episode that this prompt was the hardest one for them in the whole show
I love how "bereft of life" got Jess good. I also really, really love Ross and the Dynamic Duo working together.
"Bereft of life" is such a brilliant callback to the most famous bird-related sketch in comedic history, such a great move to pull on the spot.
Ross is easily my favorite of the guests, though Zeke is obviously a legend as well.

_Instantly!_
The inner pain of knowing the perfect rhyme and having to resist the urge to sing it out, with the added envy of Ross's amazing "bereft of life" line
appreciate that they keep flapping their wings the whole time
The sing along lyrics at the bottom of the screen are a big help. Like the yellow line to gain watching football on TV, lol.
I kinda love how Jess can make anything vaguely-to-overtly gangster
Ross' intense speces out stares while not rhyming is great. Also them keeping to bird related "rhymes" is so much more surplus brain power, than I could ever manage in less chaotic situations.
The fact that this is improvised is fucking wild.
This was so good I thought this was a parody of an actual song instead of pure improv. Amazing job!
its not pure improv, they read the lyrics but just have to improv the last word so that it dont rhyme.....
still amazing tho!
@@raafmaat Pretty sure it is entirely improv. The rest of the show is, so it wouldn't make sense for them to provide lyrics for just one song.
@@raafmaat *source needed
@@raafmaatI think you may be confused because of the subtitles. They didn't see the subtitles. It's all improv.
Imma quote a comment i saw before
"This is the musical definition of edging"
i've been WAITING for this one to be uploaded separately so i can send it to my non-member friends yES
The 3 diff choruses on the spot killed me

Zach just hanging on to that bar the whole time makes this even funnier tbh
people that can sing improv and freestyle rap will never stop blowing my mind
i love jess’ voice so much its so catchy 😭
Still the best moment in Play It By Ear yet.
The fugue song was also really really good, I don't remember in which episode it was but it slapped.

I was singing this song this morning, thank you for making me sing it some more
this would be great as an animation :o
Still some of the most impressive improv I’ve ever seen! Every time I watch it I’m always in awe!
I love the different overlapping choruses
real talent they can immedietly understand what the other of them wants to do
this is amazing. The Raw Talent in these 3 is insane xD
And to think this is the same episode that birthed WHOOP WOPS WIDDLY WOPS
Did they ever actually make merch with that?

These just. Keep. Getting. Better. Cant wait for more from Jess & Zach.
Every time someone talks about "birds of a feather" by billie eilish i just hear this song
this is straight up a golden age of disney villain song
this song convinced me to watch play it by ear s2 and it has been my hyperfixation since october lmao
Sit right down or you'll lose and lose again
I say this out of a place of love, you guys need to work on your title game

yooo i love yall dropout keep doing what yall doing
i think about ‘i would end up bereft of life’ at least once a week
Seeing people able to just make up song lyrics on the spot always blows my mind!
Yes, finally a full upload!! This is my favorite challenge
Love your content guys ❤❤❤❤
Whelp, time to go watch both seasons again
this is my favorite song in the whole series. i think about it a lot
I need to see a version of this song that rhymes it’s too good😭😭
SAME, i thought it was already a song that they parodied at first 😭
favourite prompt by far
Honestly, this AGAIN feels like musical edging to me.
Dropout has a thing for that...... and me too!
I NEED THIS ON SPOTIFY.
It’s actually such a good song 😭😭
Props to Ross for the Monty Python reference!
Billie Eilish took an inspiration 😂
I wanna marry this trio.
I don't mean one at a time. I mean when they're together, that entity will be my hun.
Dropouuut 😃
It came to me when I heard "bricks" at the end
Oh shit that's the drummer from Wolves of Glendale ur cracking me up olivia
Why does this still sound good?
this would be perfect for some animated children’s movie.
My new favorite song 🔥
This takes serious talent
It is so hard to believe that these fools can make songs up on... the fly... because... because they're birds.
Animal Style is probably my favorite episode
This is one of my favorite songs
"Mom can we listen to 'Birds of a Feather' by Billie Eilish?"
"We have Birds of a Feather at home"
Birds of a Feather at home:
Dream team knockin it out of the recreational area!
Honestly
Do not stick as one is better than together
nice improv!
Such a Great ep! can't wait for the new season to premiere which of course will be....🤔🙏😁
This is actually really catchy
this slays
This is awesome
Incredible
3rd season when 😢🙏🥺🥺

Just before that the mourning dove says "No no no no, so be grateful for where you are"
Someone please recreate this where it all rhymes

We’d love a rhyming one.
Whats the original song and is it nearly as catchy?
There is no original, this was improvised
@@SirGiradon283 ohhh thx
Read the title as The Cat Makes Up A Song…
Corrected myself and was only slightly less excited to watch.
Would have loved to hear that cat’s song tho.
Billie Eilish who?
i feel like the gimmick doesnt work without the deceptive subtitle.
It's not hard to work out what most of the rhymes are supposed to be based on the context of the verse and the last word of the preceding line
@@JavierFinlayMusic you could but you wouldn't. Lyrics don't have to rhyme
@@HeatranoveryouExcept that the prompt is literally to have the lyrics seem like they’re about to rhyme and then don’t
