Hello guys, nice to see the MOG is taking some mud, about cold start, I give up with the alcohol injector, In the snow as a sample it's starting but it smokes a few minutes and I will be honest, it's not so good for the engine even if this is a real solid engine, I'm using a webasto thermo top 7 kw installed on the cooling system and in 25 min it fits the engine 75 C degrees, it's running like in summer, 0 smokes, in the camping places if you are with more people to smokes during 2 minutes it's a bit embarrassing, enjoy your tour
Wow those mountains !!! Smart to use the hand throttle, I newer use the gas pedal to avoid damage on the engine when starting. I can recommend a diesel heater as well I was lucky mine had one when i bought it :)
It's so great seeing you both enjoying all your hard work! Mateo and Pablo look so happy also! Did you get your water pump fixed? The pics at the end scared me a bit though being so close to the edge of the cliff! Please be careful!!
"settle into gratitude"...I love that. Im grateful to tag along. I was able to travel across country once...in 1986 when I graduated from college. I flew from Alabama to LA, California, then drove back home. One of the stops was the Grand Canyon, THERE ARE NO WORDS for the beauty! Pictures in no way does it justice, nor does hearing about it from others, it is something that you just have to experience for yourself. Ive not traveled back out west since then. Thanks again for allowing us to see this spectacular country through your eyes! Be safe! I'll be watching, and sharing!
Wow, I loved the slower roads. Great joy to see you make the trip so long planned. Sorry the water pump went out . A. great a new one is on it's way. B. You know what and how the instill new one. C. You plan for anything going wrong can be talked about then plan&fix it. I am goin to work on my shuttle bus in Florida this winter. Just had left knee replaced. So after recovery time. Here I come. My bus has a name Adventure Before Dementia Bus. Fitting for an old lady? Right! You make smile and encourage me. I can do this.
The drone footage is a nice add. And - given your love of camping in the high desert, curious what you've done to protect the water system from freezing?
Very nice tour and shots of it. Savannah, you are a careful rider, ride more. It is obvious that you are good at it, and practice on easy terrain too. Practice makes perfect, especially off-road. You will only smile about your beginnings later when you know the vehicle well and what it is capable of. You probably know that from countless reports/films from other Unimog drivers. But experiencing/testing it all yourself is the adventure. Have fun in these magnificent landscapes.
I just chance upon you guys here👌and I already love Mateo Pablo and you both😊you bring a positive vibe to my life! Hope to follow you in all your journeys😊Be safe!
Why not make a window bed for the dogs you can clip in or out. For the car how about a set up like a bunk bed off back wall then they have their own bed
Ha, that thing is cool. I'd have a tough time with no glow plugs though, what would happen if you put a block heater in it? Anyway, nice video thanks, and carry on.
I love to drive those roads in my RV. We use it as a base camp for off read exploring in our towed rock crawler / adventure rig we tow behind Barney! My RV has been on some pretty tough dirt back roads over tge last 30 years, but the farther back in I can get it, the better I like it. You guys are having the time of your lives. Here's to hoping every place makes an epic memory for both of you and the dogs. For the old guy who's been ven there, and planning to do more! You're going to want AC in a few months in Arizzzonna! When you get ready to put it in come to North Central Texas. (Rhome) My shop is yours. (3000 sqft ) hookups, dump station and fiber optic wifi.
Yeah getting further away usually makes for a better time which is why we got the mog. We pushed our van and bus down some roads over there years that we probably shouldn’t have haha. Nice to have the Mog to get out further wish less stress now. Thank you for the kind offer.
What a joyful video. Thank you. It is soo good to see the desert again. May you spend limitless days enjoying our beautiful planet. Thank you for the lovely words at the end.. they truly say it all. 💕💕
Love seeing u guys on the road again especially in this EPIC RIG . Wishing Safe Travels Always, and i cant wait for the adventures n journey. Im very thankful U R taking me along . Mucho Love Always ❤️ ❤ ❤ ❤
Please do not go near the edge of the rocks at the Grand Canyon. I read that hundreds of tourists have died falling over the edge. When I was there, and we were only there for a few minutes, some guy stumbled and almost fell over the edge. So it must happen a lot.
I don't remember if you mentioned, but does the Unimog have AC or power steering? We did much of Route 66 on one of our trips, but there are places where it runs with or on I-40. Some stretches are quite well preserved, including one between Springfield, Missouri, and Tulsa, Oklahoma. There are some nice old time 50s era cafes along the way.
Yes it does have power steering, but there is no AC. We may add an AC in the future as it gets pretty warm in the cab with all the windows. Yeah we’ve seen some of the old Route 66 over there years pretty cool to see. Must have been fun to travel those routes before the interstates were built.
@@OurWayToRoam Actually, at 78, I predate the majority of the Interstates, and I would say no, it wasn't that much fun. The tourist traps and restaurants were fun, but you would average around 40 mph with all the small towns, and trying to pass people. It was worst in mountains or even hill country. You do miss a lot with the Interstates though. We watch for signs. We would have missed the Arizona Meteor Crater is not for the signs. New Mexico without hard wind, never saw that before.
Wow, whats the weight of that vehicle? Amazing in dessert sand but my stomach turned on the hill! Rattle snakes vs me and my dog...no way! Id be out! Get video! T.H. !

Thanks A LOT for sharing your trip with us. You two are quite a team.

Thank you for the continued support, hope to make it up north one of these days.

Congratulations on a safe trip across the USA. Welcome to Arizona.😀
Thanks! 😃
11:15 Pablo looks like a meerkat sitting up like that. 😊
Haha he does and some times like crash bandicoot 🤣

Hope you have a speedy recovery and best of luck on the build you can do it!
@@OurWayToRoam thank you. You inspire me
@7:27 if that mog were mine I would install a hydronic heater to preheat the engine in cold climates. That and an oil pan heater.
That’s a good point we are considering doing something along those line in the future.
The drone footage is a nice add. And - given your love of camping in the high desert, curious what you've done to protect the water system from freezing?
The composite box is very well insulated. Been camped in as low as 9 degrees🥶 without freezing water system so far.
Congratulations!! ✌🏼
Awww, UK here, thanks for sharing your journey. Loved the mog conversion vlogs, so wish we had more skills for that...have fun, stay safe x
Thanks so much! 😊
Good for you, girl!

Yeah there’s nothing like experiencing the drives for your self and getting a feel for the vehicle on different terrains.
14:38 i can tell Drew made a funny face while Savannah is speaking, by the way she laughs. You guys are awesome!😊

Seems like the Mog needs an engine heater

So which one is the more clingy pup? Looks like Pablo. He's always trying to snuggle.
Pablo is very attached haha 😆
