I spent a week at a songwriters festival and it was amazing!!! It was great to hear the original material in its true artistic passion before their labels switched it up and gave the tune to a commercial performer. It was bizarre how many folks passed by thinking it was cover bands .
@09emilybaby corey smith is a legit artist. he actually writes music. he actually plays lead guitar. and, about them looking good, and him not, isn't the whole song pretty much about prettyboy nashville stars? he's not saying he looks good. i honestly dont think he cares how he looks. he writes his own music. he's extremely talented, and hes a good singer/songwriter.
Very True, I still enjoy it. I wish guys like Jamey Johnson, Ray Scott, Trent Tomlinson could make it on radio. But all have been told they are "too country" which is a ridiculous. but It is what it is.
@baseballP25 Corey isn't trying to be country. Listen to the song, his daddy taught him to be his own kind of man. Also, he didnt pave is way to fame through nashville he did it in Georgia. If he were trying to be country would he thrown Zepplin into a live show? I haven't heard his new record, but what I can say is most people haven't heard of him so why not start with your best songs on your first record that could make it big? idk call me crazy. Just thoughts from a huge Corey Smith fan in SD
@09emilybaby Corey Smith has more talen in his pinky than Tim McGraw and Kenny Chesney would hope to have. Those two play rhythm guitar and nothing else. Song writers get paid a lot of money to keep them at the top of the charts. Good for them but respect is due to the singer/songwriter like Corey Smith.
If you like it, go for it but it's been done before. Revisit what Waylon had to say about whether Hank done it this way. Or who Willie suggested you write your own song.
The Genre of country is stretched, but one thing's for sure they are all family. It's a way of life. Gilbert sells songs to Aldean, and then shortly after becomes famous, Bryan sells to Currington & Travis Tritt, then becomes famous. COUNTRY IS ONE BIG FAMILY THEY ARE ALL FRIENDS. This isn't a genre to bash on one another, if you want that go listen to rap. Corey is talented but isn't going to be making any friends bashing on a genre he is trying to get into.
@x7paige wrong jason is real now if u want fake u should be talking bout lady a taylor and ppl like them brantley said in a interview that he gave jason the song cuz jason was real
Every time you don't support Corey by watching his new "Ain't Going Out Tonight" music video, a beer will go flat. Don't waste perfectly good beer! Watch the video www.jamplify.com/3v4mz7
@TL3062 i'm not talking about only this song. ever since he started he's always tried to be different and his past 2 records have been more mainstream. I say he isn't country anymore because I hate mainstream country, its too much pop. But listen to the new record, the stuff he re-recorded sounds terrible. Maybe Next Year and 21 in particular
Really? how come he speaks of Willie Nelson and Johnny Cash in great terms then. Cash started in memphis eventually going to Nashville. and Willie was rejected by everyone in nashville for the first little while met Hank Cochran the rest is history
Emily you see Kenny chesney is gay so you would never have a shot with him and if you would listen to some of Corey's best songs like Twenty-One, Drinkin Again, and Maybe Next Year you'd change your mind
what happen to george jones? merle haggard?..I FREAKIN MISS WAYLON!!! i think the only people worth listen to are COREY SMITH...jamey johnson, easton corbin, miranda lambert. their the only real country musicians. saddly
im sorry but the point is there entertainers jason aldean may not be country he doesnt live it i agree he sucks lol but he does entertain thats his job look at elvis he's a the king of rock didnt play 1 fucking lick on a guitar were's angus at? apparently not the king of rock yet his guitar playing is amazing angus young is the king of rock boys
Holy shit this is really good. I thought Country music sucked, but apparently my problem was that I thought what was on the radio was Country.
This is great but it's not country. Its more like pop

It's 2024 and I'm just discovering this gem of an Artist.. Wow!!!
This couldn't have been 10 years ago...
corey is too good! this song actually hurts my feeling because of that. hoo
Nonononono emily... Corey Smith.. By far, one of the most talented singer/songwriters.. By far. Take it somewhere else.
i love how corey has stubble on his face but none on his head. just makes him that much more awesome
I just love his voice. And he writes is own songs. Can't believe in a man that had some 19 year old girl in LA write his music. Corey is the man
Still love him in 2021!!!
bro. smith tells it like it is !!

How have I missed out on this!?
I wonder if anyone here knows where this song came from ? Corey is clearly a David Allan Coe fan. Greatest country songwriter of all time
This song is f%@kin' pimpin'!
I fucking love how the bass player goes full Krist Novoselic when Corey kicks into SLTS.

This guy is awesome
Now that's country!

Love
it
I'm glad he found his daddy's weed ❤
Last time I checked, mainstream country coming from Nashville these days ain't anything like Cash or Willie.
Jamey Johnson Amen!!!
that part about CMT and Kenny is absolutely right, FUCK No Shoes Radio.

Funny he performed at the CMT after bashing them in this song.
@x7paige this songs about kenney chesney
@x7paige wrong jason is real now if u want fake u should be talking bout lady a taylor and ppl like them brantley said in a interview that he gave jason the song cuz jason was real
@hathcock32 far from terrible and he clearly aint jealous...just telling it like it is
Yea, considering what Corey Smith has voluntarily turned into, this recording is very ironic.
@kyreamusic Its james bond i think
what song is at 2:59

He also played Nirvana and Under Pressure and Lynnard Skynyrd. None of that is country
@cockyah nirvana's smells like teen spirit
allow
Corey isn't country anymore. This new record effed up his old stuff that were re-released on Broken Record
III
@WooPig6969
If you write in a complete sentence then I will present a rebuttal. Until then, I will consider you a "special person".
Emily you see Kenny chesney is gay so you would never have a shot with him and if you would listen to some of Corey's best songs like Twenty-One, Drinkin Again, and Maybe Next Year you'd change your mind
For those of you who keep mentioning Justin Moore... he's another fake outlaw.
