Parents are NOT raising their kids, so they become animals. We all are domesticated by our parents and our community. Here, both fails. It’s not only the parents. It’s society that fails to do its job. Every time when you decide to not to tell someone off for their unacceptable behaviour, you are failing. We all do in the US, because we don’t have a common culture.

Exactly why there is a shortage of public school teachers. Not only are they underpaid, but they also have to deal with parents and kids, and now they are getting physically assaulted.
When I was a teacher a student told me he was going to bring a gun to school and shoot me. His father just happened to be the police chief so nothing happened to him.
Brendon Depa is a menace. Even after being pulled off the teacher, while on the ground, he was trying to kick her in the head. He needs to go to prison. If he doesn’t he WILL assault someone else.
It's the governments fault. These teens know they can disrespect adults and you can't do anything or you'll get charged with assault. The parents can't even spank or put their hands on the teen/kid either or face imprisonment. So yes, once the government took out basic discipline out of the home, it caused all of this.

The parents have no respect for the teachers, and so their children don't. Teachers are punished when they try to hold the students accountable for whatever, and the students know they have no power to enforce anything, so why would they be obedient. This is an adult behavioral problem as much as it is a child behavioral problem.
The reasons this is happening: 1. The students and their parents are not accountable for their behaviors and low standardized test scores. 2. The students know they can get away with it because of their underage privilege and the laws favoring them.
This isn't just happening in America. I teach in Melbourne, Australia. Last year, my school had 3 teachers off on leave because students had physically attacked them. We currently have 2 teachers off on leave because they were on a school excursion and a group of students from another school attacked one of our students and went through the teachers standing in front of him, attempting to calm the situation down. Schools here have to suspend students 25 times, provide a whole bunch of supports and paperwork before we can expel a student. Then we have to swap expelled students with another school.
I walked away from teaching middle school and high school social studies. I knew if I stayed with those kids I would be the one that ended up in jail. Just not worth it! The kids know there’s absolutely no consequence for their actions not from the school or from their home. Factor in hip-hop, culture glorifying hedonist selfish behavior I wouldn’t wish a teaching job on an enemy.
This isn't anything new in our schools from the 1970's on that hasn't been properly addressed by school boards when uncivilized, disruptive, violent children have assaulted teachers to varying degrees and not been serioulsy disciplined by the authorities. Situations like this one only get worse as we allow our country to deteriorate.
