My son is 2 years old, I sing this to him every night before bed. My late father is in my heart when I sing it.
I am not a very good singer but you wouldn't know it by the way I sing along when I hear this song. Takes me back to the mid-late 90s and a smile. Thanks, Matt.
I still sing this song to my son for bedtime. Thank you for this Matt & Keith.
After I type this comment I see my wife's comment right below mine lol.
Love, love, LOVE this song! Thank you so much for this sweet surprise. My husband still sings this song to our son and it brings a tear every time. So beautifully written and has always evoked such emotion, especially once we became parents 10 years ago!
❤️🎄🎅🏻🥰🎶💚
My son's 14 now, but when he was little (3 ish), he heard it for the first time and called it "Matthew (his name) and daddy's song"
Still one of my favs by VH!
Merry Christmas Matt from the UK 🇬🇧
Matt is THE MAN. Thanks for posting!
Incredible - classic VH!
Merry Christmas Matt😀
Merry Christmas Matt
Merry Christmas Matt!
Lovely tune. Channels James Taylor. Merry Christmas!
Thanks for all Matt.. You are a monster of rock
Truly great songs shine in a solo acoustic session, just like this. Great chord voicing combinations with a consistent ethereal vibe. This songs send those good shivers down my spine. This is one of my favorite songs of all time, thanks Matt! Used this video to learn to play the song!
Beautiful! I hope you had a Merry Christmas and have a Happy New Year! I will see you in 2023!
Happy holidays matt beautiful song
Love it Matt!!! Merry Christmas man. Love this album!
Awesome song as all your songs are
I love this, I'm such a big fan of vertical horizon. You have such an amazing voice Matt. I love your a god and best I ever had
I was hoping you'd play the song today..
Merry Christmas, M. This is the Christmas song each year. The Man Who Would be Santa. You know this is from the Running On Ice album. Gorgeous! Soulful voice! I won't ever get tired of it. X.
He knows: we wrote it, and sang it. Dumb@$$
Always loved your stuff Matt. Heard this one today for the first time and then played the recorded version. Made me cry. Amazing song. Thanks for sharing this and Merry Xmas.
Thanks for listening
What I don't understand is how this song is not on regular rotation at Christmas time. Like it's far better than all the rehashes and garbage that plays and hopefully if it became something during that time of year it would encourage other people to make their own Christmas songs instead of doing remakes of old ones.
Merry Christmas 🎄! Thanks for this wonderful surprise for us 💗
One of the greatest songs of VH. This one is close to my heart. Thank you for the Music, VH. Merry Christmas, Matt! ☆
wow, watching this lovely song (btw) reminds me of the meme - a few simple Jazz chords. Haha! Ohhhh - Is that an E major chord (shape, I know you generally tune your guitars down). I couldn't do that with my hand if my life depended on it. Hahaha!!
Beautifully written and beautifully sung. Thank you and Merry Christmas.
Love it.
Matt this is great...what tuning are u in?
as someone who plays guitar, im confused of those chords 😵 hope matt do a tutorial or make a tablature, wanna play it
