To make it easier you can use the clip ins as a protective style. Plait cornrows in the back and add the clip in on top of them and have your hair protected from all that gel. Leave out a small amount on top but protect your gorgeous hair

The SheaMoisture Black Castor Leave in Conditioner and seal it in. Also use the Shea Moisture Manuka and Honey Protein Mask it works wonders. And also boil some Flaxseeds in water until it come to gel consistency and it’s a better curly product than eco style and safer
If you are having trouble with the white residue try this: ECO Cocktail, Cantu Curling Creme, and either a Coconut Oil, Vitamin E Oil, Carrot Oil, and Light Water. You have to wash your hair and then let it air dry or get under the dryer then place the product on damp hair. You have to contend with length and thickness this will address the frizziness.
I kept them in for a few days, depending on the position your sleeping it can be uncomfortable. I’d braid my hair back up with the clip ins then put on my bonnet and go to bed.
