Lol lots of people dont know but the longer the port, you are getting God tier waves.I learned this breaking down hundreds of home theater subs.most have great ported enclosures
FIrst off, as an MECP Certified Pro Installer, with over 25 years of experience, if you dont know whats going on i will eplain. The big subwoofers in the big box are acting like radiators and creating movement when the 6.5 is playing, then all of that combined is going down the long ass port that he has created. Genius idea.... Well Played!!!!!!!
In the video he tells you that the 10s aren’t hooked connected to the amp and at 70hz those 10’s aren’t Radiating anything lol plus the pressure from those subs would be on the outside of the port and the mic is measuring the inside of the port and the 6.5 is completely sealed off
@@Mr.ChoKolate4life OK, first off, the 10's do not have to be hooked up, although i would have loved a shot of the truck in full tilt just to prove that. Second, the 6.5 is an open speaker inside of a probably 5 cubic foot enclosure also he has foam around the PVC tube that he stuffed inside the main boxes port so unless he is an anomaly of car stereo, of course those big subs were moving if even just a little, enough to add to the SPL, If im wrong i will say im wrong but lets see the same contraption without it being stuck into that huge enclosure. Why do you think he stuck it in there to begin with.... For looks? COme on now!!!!! Ive been around and seen many an SPL score raised, and there is no 6.5 doing any number close to that without doing something such as this! He did say he tests at home on his workbench. Honestly I'm not sure why he put it in the enclosure port other than to save space and help hold the contraption. But you are right, the 3 subs were definitely passive radiating. Not sure if that was his goal though.@@Vincent-Vega24

Pretty cool & inventive design, build, execution, spl numbers... In the early 90s I use to experiment with a SAS Bazooka tube inside of different cubic foot size diy enclosures with different port sizes Enjoy the bass 🔊💨💨🤯
They are in it for the science I'm a full range person myself I like to jam my favorite songs. I don't want bass stopping my heart just want good sound
My coworker had a ford ranger. He had it beating pretty good. Unfortunately he started doing drugs. I wish he could see this video. With a purpose of watching it 😔😔😔
I keep telling people that tubes are more efficient at transferring sound energy than regular boxes but nobody wants to listen to me. They are stuck in old boxy ways. Tubes can be made, lighter, stronger and overall better for sound than square bulky heavy boxes.
I agree 100% I figured that out with switching to aeroports. Plus it makes the enclosure so much easier to build. P.S. - Thank you for blessing us with the bestest of bass benchmark songs
Put the meter outside of the port... I gain like 6db when the meter goes in the port. It's not a very real representation of the actual volume but still pretty cool that you managed to break 170 with such a small driver in such an unusual "enclosure". I built long PVC ports in a box once, similar to this enclosure you made here... trying to lower tuning but ended up dropping peak by 4-5Hz and gaining about 5db at the time. Long ports are fun to play with acoustically.
i was wondering when someone was going to do this and was surprised they hadnt yet. This is only one dimension. Im waiting for people to discover the next part where they combine the pulses onto itself to increase the velocity past the speed of light.
@@Mr.ChoKolate4life Nah, these 60 70hz pulls ruins the db comp. Its not bass, its trash. I could see a 6.5 pulling a 150 plus at 35 to 45 hz. with 3 or 4 in the right box.
Everyone is overthinking this one. It a transmission line with a sealed cap and the mic placed at the end. to call this port wars is kind of lame because its not in the spirit of the rule. Does it work? Sure. Is it genius? Debatable, but its a good idea none the less.

Yeah if you put the pic inside a speaker box the db will clearly change drastically lol.. keep the mic somewhere like idk where anyone else puts the meter any other time ever and retest then don’t be mad getting metered at 120db lol 😂
In Port Wars competitions, the Sound Pressure Level (SPL) is measured directly at the port vent of the speaker enclosure. That is why a 6.5 woofer can meter that high.
Well it theoretically could but I don’t agree with the metering.. you could throw a mic in a box with a power acoustic from Walmart and get higher dbs but it’s not even a proper sealed enclosure to be tested properly.. either way I still think it’s dumb.. I’m on my way to go buy tons of pvc pipe now.. to not try this..😂
This is more of science than it is for banging down the block. Just a way to have something different that super cheap to play around with and make your brain work
@MattGuynn it's still impressive if you know, it shows the potential of that single sub, it can compres air at an insane pressure. It could be placed in an spl box or you could go wide band and still have a loud set up for a single little sub. It's about how you use it. Not many actually know.
Please re-edit with the f****** Ford ranger voiceover at the beginning like a teaser 😂😂😂😂😂. Like a quick edit at the beginning and then when it hits that 17 0 number play it again. Please just do it. I hope you can cuz it re-upload it😂😂

iive got a skar 6.5 in a 3 ft tall horn enclosure, hits 110db with 250 watts easily
A few years ago, the guy in front of me running a 6.5" sub did just over 180 db at a USACi show in Vegas.
Noo way that’s crazy loud
That would be twice as loud as the 173.

I'm going to start putting the sensor in the spark plug port and turn it over a few times.
Ayy if it works lol
No sound, just pressure. What's the use then. Love subwoofers and bass but without music it's senseless
This is just about science and how much pressure you can build
Some people enjoy engineering and science
that's what I think too
They are in it for the science I'm a full range person myself I like to jam my favorite songs. I don't want bass stopping my heart just want good sound
There is musical classes and there is Spl classes so...
Joe Fox did this with a PYLE tweeter way back in the 90's it went over the limits of the SPL meter and the Meter went up to 190 DB
That’s craxu
So the inverted 12s in the cab wasnt on during this run?
Not bad i dont guess if thats a single 6.5. Lowes will be sold out of PVC pipe soon.
That’s funny as hell
NOT a traditional SPL db drag. They measure the spl inside a sealed enclosure pressurized by the woofer. Of course it's going to be high....
It’s just a different way a creating pressure just because
Wonder if pressure would rise if while playing the sub firing of a co2 cartridge into the tube would give some extra dBs.
lol that’s funny
No human could sit in a vehicle that was that loud
This is a port score
That's interesting never seen this before 👍💯
It shocked me when I saw it for the first time as well

It was definitely a hot one that day
That four twelve enclosure is cool
Yea his box is crazy nice
So is it considered a port if it completely sealed. Aka no open port.
That’s the cool thing about bass wars they are no rules it’s just for fun but get loud as possible
Port wars. I need more info on the rules. If you can’t close the door is it really in the cabin?
The is one rule in bass wars
No rules lol

Mad reapect for someone who knows his build/math/the science behind the bass
Absolutely
What hz
I think it’s in the 70’s
I think the rules for Spl should be measured at 40 HZ or so. This is not the bass you want in music. Its nearly feedback tone.

You should make it air tight in the port where its at and take a sub out of the top....
