@Thomas Anderson Its kind of funny that english version had to dumb the song down and got rid of thick sarcasm. Were Till hurt by the fact that large amounts of americans thought that this is a love song, in spite of him repeating three times that it isnt?
People talk and complain about this song hating on Amerika, and the shit we do. I say every word in this song is the truth, aimed directly at the sheep. \m/
Where can I buy this version because the part @ 2.40 the guitars are drowned out by the keyboard on the German version nice to hear them properly on this
Hmm... The comments on here are depressing. I can't understand some of them anyway. If you don't like them, go somewhere else. I've seen interviews and heard other songs, and what Rammstein does is beautiful. And you guys know nothing and just sit and say "lol this is weird"
I agree with the majority of what you say, aye rammstein is beautiful, however unfortunately when their songs are translated, the translation either loses it's poetic charm or no longer fits the music, so sometimes they'll change the lyrics to make them poetic again however it's never quite as good as the original. This version of America actually isn't too bad, but the English version of du hast, for example is pretty terrible. That's not to say they don't write good stuff in English, or other languages like Spanish and Russian for example, and elements of songs like amerka and moskau in their respective, non German languages are good.
Another point, it shits me to tears that ignorant people liable these guys Nazis. These guys grew up in the soviet block, not the third Reich, if anything these guys are left leaning but mostly apolitical, and most of the haters are more right wing, authoritarian and fascistic than these guys ever will be.
Dustin Zaccaria Yes, I totally agree. ^-^ Plus, they also have to change the lyrics in their "english versions" of songs so that the words match more with the melody/etc. Once, I saw a Japanese performer (Gackt) sing one of his songs in english, and he sung sooo fast and it wasn't pretty anymore, because he attempted to make all the english words fit.

SuperLemonFuck it's the English Version, but it's perfect for American Radio stations in cars and shit while Germany plays the original version on their radio stations in Berlin. LOO
I'm not saying this is fact and that I have proof, but, I'm assuming that there are two versions (german and english) because For one, Rammstein is a German band. And since the song is about America, might as well translate for us, right? EXCEPT; the lyrics are tweaked a little in the English version. I think it's only changed so that it can flow with the beat a lot easier. Otherwise, what he sings probably won't rhyme, and his words will be too long to even fit in the time played for the music. For example, I listen to a Japanese artist. For some reason, he will randomly sing his songs in English at live concerts (even though he doesn't even release them in english, as english versions, unlike Rammstein). He probably does this when he's touring in America lol. He had to sing the songs sooo fast because the sentences were too long to fit in the music. Does this make sense lol? It just sounds bad. I would rather Gackt (the Japanese artist) re-write the song if he was to sing it in English.
desdragona I've seen Rammstein play this song twice in the U.S., and if I recall correctly, he simply didn't sing most of the words! He stood silently, no explanation. Maybe to avoid controversy, or maybe he forgot!? On other songs he would occasionally sing a line or catch phrase in English, even though this was never done on a recording (to my knowledge.)
Asi es. Como no quisieron repetir la formula de "Engel" y "Du Hast", le cambiaron la letra totalmente. Por eso me gusta mas esta version que la alemana.
This sounds wierd and shit. Where are the cool german voices?! Damn this is awful. Greetingz from germany. No, our cows are NOT purple (Milka Chocolate...) and NO I´m not a Nazi. ^^ Cheers.
America is definitely not wunderbar. Not a single doubts about that. It was Not in 5 year's ago, when this song came out. And its not wunderbar now. But did you know who need to shut up about *sometimes war* ? *Germans* need to. Hans, just shut up about it for a couple of century's please. Too soon, Hans.
I find the German version is better but I'm still liking this version too since it panders to English audience like me
I think it's a love song
No this is not a love song
@@Therealsteelpetergriffin I don't speak my mother tongue.
I actually think this is one of the best songs of Rammstein :D
The good part of the song starts at 2:25
Every time I get a little excited about the Skills In Pills release, I remind myself that this is an example of Till's lyricism in English.
I actually love the Skills In Pills album lol
Gotta love the random German lines in Rammstein's English versions of their songs. "Africa for Santa Klaus/und vor Paris steht Micky Maus"
2:40 is Amazing
I have to say, if it's german and it's a song, keep it german
I just wanted to know what they were saying
In german version is another text
We just wanted to know what they saying.
I think it's was made for the laughs
Lesson Learned: English version is worse

Yes it means fuck America
at least we don't live in china (yet)
Definitely not what is said in the German version apart from the intro and chorus. This is a total re-write.
Strange translation
Nice but keep it normal pls
