ELO - Turn To Stone HD Audiophile Remaster

  • I used the audio from the Out Of The Blue CD Remastered edition. However this version was too heavily compressed and the stereo sound field was too narrow. The top end is almost gone. So I expanded the dynamic range and stereo sound field. I then remastered the track for best sound quality possible. I believe this sounds much better as you can hear the instruments more clearly. This brings the track to audiophile sound quality it deserves for the first time. All the versions on You Tube sound like the Chipmunks are performing it. I fixed the video so it now plays at the proper speed.

A true highway cruising song with a joint in one hand, a cold Budweiser in the other. Rock it!

In an interview just a few years ago Jeff was asked about the shades. He said it is out of self consciousness. How could a person with such amazing talent be self conscious is beyond imagination.

Jeff Lynne was a freaking genius, being of the few bands from the seventies to reinvent their music into the eights, while most bands crashed and burned. From an edgier sound like Mama Belle to epic rock disco albums like the above video, and Discovery. Great power

This is actually the best version of this song I have ever heard. The synthesizer riff (which was almost impossible to hear in the original) sounds amazing here. I have been trying to figure out that synth riff for ages and now I can finally hear it.

      @fowchiiiliedpuppiesdied Год назад +1

9 years later….I prefer the other live version, and the subtly within of all those layers of sounds, it made the song more encompassing. And it was so unique, and unusual for bands to do this at that time, almost reminds me of the approach of the Cocteau Twins, later on, as a more obvious example (the C.T. fully indulged in this approach, however). Musically, it was much more complex, and nuanced, and mysterious, while remaining defined, and impactful at the same time. But I can appreciate exactly why you like this version, as well. Each part is much clearer, and easier to appreciate, on its own merits, and because each part is so damn good, this is well worth our time as well. The other is about the process of combining all the aspects to contribute to the whole, in a very original way.

The city streets are empty now
(The lights don't shine no more)
And so the songs are way down low
A sound that flows into my mind
    (The echoes of the daylight)
    Of everything that is alive
    (In my blue world)
I turn to stone when you are gone
    I turn to stone
I turn to stone, when you comin' home
    I can't go on
The dying embers of a night
(A fire that slowly fades 'till dawn)
Still glow upon the wall so bright (turning, turning)
The tired streets that hide away
(From here to everywhere they go)
Roll past my door into the day
    In my blue world
I turn to stone when you are gone
    I turn to stone
I turn to stone, when you comin' home
    I can't go on
Turn to stone when you are gone
    I turn to stone
    Yes, I'm turnin' to stone
    'Cause you ain't coming home
    Why ain't you comin' home
    If I'm turnin' to stone
You've been gone for so long
    And I can't carry on
    Yes, I'm turnin', I'm turnin'
    I'm turnin' to stone
The dancing shadows on the wall
    (The two-step in the hall)
Are all I see since you've been gone (turning, turning)
Through all I sit here and I wait
(I turn to stone, I turn to stone)
You will return again some day
    To my blue world
I turn to stone when you are gone
    I turn to stone
I turn to stone, when you comin' home
    I can't go on
I turn to stone when you are gone
    I turn to stone
I turn to stone when you are gone
    I turn to stone
Turn to stone, when you comin' home
    I can't go on
I turn to stone when you are gone
    I turn to stone

      @stepheneroh6712 5 лет назад +4

Seriously, I agree with the first part . . But that second part means you haven't looked hard enough. Granted like during all [periods of music there's a lot of fluff. But, I can't tell you when ELO was new, How many people would tell me it was just derivative of the Beatles and one or another Classical music composers. Now, Jeff Lynne and the rest, are recognized for their musical genius. If I had a bit more time at the moment I would cull through my saved RUclips videos and make you some recommendations of current music. But to be honest most of it isn't the stuff that's necessarily top 40. And Tory Boy's comment is quite valid, and perhaps a bit of OH_I_Will applies. But, obviously you love music, so don't give up, and don't be stuck. :)

I was fortunate to see them as a teenager in their classic lineup.
    Jeff Lynne - Vocals/Guitar
    Richard Tandy - Keyboard
    Bev Bevan - Drums
    Kelly Groucutt (RIP) - Bass
    Vic Kaminsky - Violin
    Hugh McDowell (RIP) - Cello
    Melvyn Gayle - Cello
As a bonus the prior act was Roxy Music (Bryan Ferry, Phil Manzanera, Eddie Jobson, Andy MacKay, John Gustafson (RIP), and Paul Thompson). The only thing bad about that set was Bryan Ferry's mustache.
The opening act consisted of Greg Rolie, Neal Schon, Ross Valory and Aynsley Dunbar; who just starting a new group called "Journey" and had yet to pick up Steve Perry.
All from 15 feet away at Louisville Gardens on the open floor. They don't make shows like that anymore
