@@jesselaurencemusic He still has that red Washburn "335" type hollowbody with the Bigsby on (But not functional for tuning stability) and gets it out for a show now and again! Most of the time he uses the white Jazzmaster that he's had since Soul Family Sensation days and probably before. With a sunburst Custom Shop one as a backup. Tim rates the sound of the Washburn very highly as a recording guitar. Proof that you don't need to spend big bucks to get a great sound. I think he should borrow my Gretsch G5222 in Wine Red as I think that would suit his style really well. Maybe one day I'll bring it and leave it lying around. ;-) He's a massive George Harrison fan too.
@@GrahamB64 Interesting you mention the bigsby because I think I saw him with that guitar in a video. But I think I couldn’t see the guitar well enough to know if it’s the same guitar. Oh wow, he’s had the white jazzmaster that long! I’ve wondered what year that guitar was made! I also agree with you about guitars, you don’t always have to spend a lot to get great guitars you like. That would be great if he borrows the Gretsch from you! I’ve always been impressed by the tone of the Gretsch’s!
@@jesselaurencemusic The white Jazzmaster is a Made In Japan "E" serial, so I'm guessing late 80s. It has Schaller tuners on it, but other than that I think it's pretty much stock. It gets more stickers on it every year though! I think it first appeared in the video for Soul Family Sensation's "Beautiful Morning" He uses Ernie Ball 10-52's on it, and the thinnest Dunlop picks you've ever seen! I don't know the gauge, but they're white, and feel like paper! Probably why he can hit it so hard. The video you saw it in was probably the Isle of Wight from 2013, but I think he had the Bigsby off and a stop tailpiece fitted for that one. I feel bad for him that that video is still up. I asked him about what happened, and apparently they had no monitors because of a technical issue, so he tuned to drop D for Ready To Go, but at some point, the bottom E jumped off the bridge saddle, and he couldn't hear what had happened. That would be the one performance that gets posted, wouldn't it?!
@@GrahamB64 That white Jazzmaster sounds great! Pretty much stock, he really likes that guitar. I’ve noticed it gets an increased amount of stickers. I’ll take a look at that video you mentioned.
Hey Jesse-finally made it here to your channel and I'm glad I did! Great job on the cover, couldn't help but notice you DID use your trem in that one section-nice! I enjoyed hearing all of the parts played so well, it's such a well crafted song by Jonny isn't it? Certainly lots of chords and that Gm at 1:05 was interesting. So cool that Graham one of Jonny's mates came on here, wow loved reading your conversation with him. It'd be great to hear more from him and perhaps Jonny himself! Wish I lived in the UK sometimes. Yes that Epi 335 sounds great, love the sound of 335s but never could get comfortable with the larger body. Yes, Male has been playing that Jazzmaster for eons hasn't he? I used to not really be into the look of them but am warming up to them since there is no question that they sound epic! Nice work mate!
Hey Marcus, glad you gave it a listen! Yeah, the trem sounded so fitting in that section. I’m pretty sure that is what’s used in their studio recording of the song. Yes, Jonny’s parts always compliments the songs very well, also for Tim’s parts. Yeah that’s a nice sounding transition into the Gm there! I enjoyed the conversation with Graham! I wish I lived in the UK too! I meant to tell you that most of my music preferences are from British artists. You probably noticed lol. I figured you like a lot of their stuff too. Oh yes, Jonny has been playing Jazzmasters as far back as the 80s or early 90s best I can tell! Thanks again!
@@jesselaurencemusic Yeah, I'd have to say that trem part was dead on like the recording. Perfect. So you aren''t from the UK just dig the Brit music? Me too-I'm in the US.
@@jesselaurencemusic Yeah, me too-I do have some Celtic, Anglo Saxon and Scottish ancestry from my Dad's side so I think that's probably where I get mine-LOL. It's in the blood.
great cool good good!!!!!!!! so very many times hunting this cover guitar
thanks guy
I appreciate that! I love the song! Thanks for listening!
Thanks again Jesse.
Good cover! I'm a mate of Jonny from Republica and I've heard him play that from my spot behind the camera at the side of the stage so many times.
Thank you! I appreciate that! I love their unique music! Jonny’s guitar riffs are so cool! He’s one of the reasons I like red hollow body guitars too!
