When I was a boy, my mom used to shop in a little dollar store downtown called " building 451", I swear, the staff played all the coolest music back in the 70s , I got to hear bad finger, kiss, zeppelin, RAMONES, etc etc etc...whoever you were, if you find this, I just wanna say thank you for the introduction to really good music!
I'll ignore the Molland Derangement Syndrome here and stick to the music... this was a GREAT single and I rushed out to buy the album upon release in '79.. it stiffed............ It's a shame but I think this style of Beatlesque perfection suffered from being in the wrong era.... early '70 around the Straight Up ERA and this would have been a smash, imo........
It came out in the height of disco. It got a lot of airplay on the aor radio, but couldn't break through like it deserved. The single peaked around #65 on the hot 100.
@@BadfingerBoogieBarb Yeah, a victim of the times...........a few of the album tracks got some airplay on a Philly FM Rock radio station........but it was basically a flash in the pan...not only Disco.. but New Wave and Punk were squeezing out a lot of established Rock and Power Pop bands.........
Love Is Gonna Come At Last would have fit nicely on either of the WB albums. It essentially captures the Badfinger magic, though most of the others on Airwaves just don't. Not a horrible album, just a miss, artistically.
I get the feeling from countless interviews and videos of the songs that Joey was either ignorant of or didn't care about Tom's internal suffering. He's always singing with a smile like he never notices Tom wasn't smiling. It doesn't help that he created a rival band and sued Tom, his band-mate.
I never liked Joey Molland. I suppose it's a common thing among Badfinger fans. He was pivotal in any tragic moment in the band: he blamed Pete Ham for trusting Mr. Polley and quit the band abruptly, settled in the States and he wasn't around when Pete hanged himself. Neither he was around after that tragedy... In 1979 he and Tommy agreed to come back together. Joey Molland had finally got over 'the money bug', so there was plenty of room for a new version of Badfinger, but Tommy was already living on another planet, sadly. So what did he do after 1981? He didn't just split from Tommy, he created the rival band and he was ready to file suite against Tommy if he was willing to carry the name of Badfinger!!!!!!!!! He made it. Then one night Tommy phoned him and spat his anger over him, saying he was going to commit suicide... it happened. Where was he, then? Did he feel any wee bit of blame about it? Naw. Now he's the last surviving member of Badfinger and he's benefitting from all that. I never ever liked him.
@@220773 Totally agree. Bob Jackson seems like a way better person. Toward the end of Tom's life when he had signed with a conman for a tour in the united states and was stuck stranded, Bob had the opportunity to leave because of his separate contract but he stayed with him. He and Tom were starting to build together a new Badfinger. He doesnt claim songwriting credit for songs he didnt write like Joey did for Without you in 1994.
@@Yonatan_Max No doubt. Joey Molland has no longer been a member of Badfinger for decades, as far as I'm concerned. He ruined it all. He didn't care about Pete, he cared less for Tom, yet HE STILL GETS INTERVIEWED! I'm certain Pete's and Tom's wives can't stand him.

Airwaves is a superb album filled with punchy poprockers and sensitive ballads!
Amazing Joey Molland!and Tom Evans! You are Fantastic.
This song needs another Breaking bad series... to achive what it deserves, period!

This is A really great song !!!
Great song! It should have been a bigger hit, but it was the height of disco.
Nicky Hopkins looking dapper at the piano. Love this song.
Not Nicky Hopkins. The keyboardist is Tony Kaye, formerly with Yes.
Great song!
The Knack was scoring with Power Pop songs in 1979. Why didn't Badfinger? Much better than The Knack!
Fabulous Song written by Joey Molland
OMG. I bought a sealed copy of this album for $ 1.00 in a cut-out bin !!!
What a tragedy. Rest in peace fellas

Don't bad mouth Joey. He is not the one that signed his life away like Tom did. Joey still keeps the Badfinger name going to this day
Friend of mine thought it was the Beatles :) Molland have a bit like Paul Mcartney voice.
Harmony perfection by Tom Evans and Joey Molland.
The new version with Rick Springfield sounds great
I just looked on RUclips and couldn't find it
Nice Les Paul guitar 💪

Take another listen. All of Joey and Tommy’s songs are top notch on that album.
Tony Kaye was much smarter here compared to when he re-joined Yes............
where did you find this one? is it on any DVD? I have another version but it looks like a poor VHS copy
It was on TV
I wish someone would come clean about who does the songs
TONY KAYE IS MINE IDC
Who is this drummer wirth epic hair style 😂
Peter Clark/Clarke.
the voice.is Tom's but they have Joey's lip-sync
