the M1 Air with 16gb of RAM and the thermal pad mod is an absolute powerhouse for everyday tasks. I'm so pleased with mine. The 8GB variant can quickly get into limitations with heavier programs,. Apple should really make 16GB a minimum
This video was perfect for me. I bought an M1 Mac mini(16GB) in Nov 2021 for work. But in 2024 I needed a laptop, so I bought a MBA(16GB). I was thinking of selling the Mac mini due to redundancy. But seeing this video has changed my mind. Mac mini will be my main driver and MBA will be my portable power house. It's ridiculous that the M2 MBA has slower SSD and apple still doesn't offer a discount. But I'm glad I found a used MBA for a reasonable price.
I am bias in favor of Windows as I am more familiar with it and always run into frustrations on Macs due to locked down nature, but I do own a 16GB M1 Mac Mini and it is an amazing machine. I am sure almost everyone reading this is familiar with how successful Apple has been with the M series chips, but I recently got into video editing on Davinci Resolve and on the free version the Mac Mini slaughters all my other Windows computers (granted they do not have GPU because I do not really play games and just started with video editing). I work with 4k 60fps footage and the Mac rarely stutters even for a moment. I am considering looking at the new lineup later this year simply to help with the export speeds and have high hopes for windows on the new ARM chips.
hey man, thanks for sharing your thoughts. actually I use both windows and mac. I have a mac specifically for video editing and because I have an iPhone. Otherwise I'd probably stick to using windows only. I must say, the m chip was a gamechanger, especially for the macbook lineup. The battery life is twice that of my x86 windows laptop, and the macbook stays cool most of the time, whereas my windows laptop's fan is almost always on full blast

Hey man! Totally agree. Apple should make 16GB the baseline

I regret selling my M1 Mac mini now :/
@@JoeyMe Lol! If it makes you feel better, Apple has reduced the price of the new Mac mini. So maybe it will be worth it one day.

I have the base model mac mini, it feels super fast compared to my macbook pro 2019 16gb...
yup, that's the magic of the M chip
@@JoeyMe agree with you... Its like a big jump to M chips. Its fast
Great comparison. Mac Mini is waaay better. Thanks!
thanks man! yeah 100%
Great
Should of gotten the m2 it’s more compatible 💀
The M2 looked cool, but I just couldn't justify the extra cost for the added stuff - I went with the MacBook Air M1 mainly 'cause it fit my budget
How? The M1 can run the same apps as the M2, just ever so slightly slower
😂
