Discovering Deosai and Sadpara Lake| Skardu Day 3 | Dr Waseem

On Day 3 in Skardu, I visited the majestic Deosai Plains, known locally as "Deosai," which means "Land of Giants." This breathtaking plateau is the second-highest in the world, featuring vast grasslands and rolling hills rich in history as a seasonal grazing area for local tribes and now a national park renowned for its diverse flora and fauna.
The journey to Deosai from Skardu was as stunning as the plateau itself. Traveling towards Deosai from Skardu city, I first encountered the beautiful Sadpara Lake, surrounded by lush greenery, and passed through Sadpara Village, which added to the picturesque scenery along the way. After passing the checkpost, the road to Deosai was rugged and sometimes perilous, but the drop in temperature and chilly weather as I ascended were truly worth experiencing.
For a complete experience, it was advisable to pack warm clothes and choose a sturdy 4x4 vehicle. During my time at Deosai, I also ventured towards Bara Pani and had the delightful opportunity to observe a beautiful marmot.
