NEVER TO OLD TO LEARN GUITAR SOLO

- You are never too old to learn how to solo on guitar. A lot of us get stuck either playing chords or a solo. I really believe the playing chords or pieces of chords when you solo is a great technique. This is a simple solo lesson. For someone who knows some chords and wants to start soloing over them. This technique will change the way you look at the guitar in a very positive way. This is a beginner to intermediate lesson on how to start improvising on guitar.
wow-ee, this is something special and so inspiring ..reaching for my guitar now - thank you so much !
Glad you liked the lesson Joe! If you have any questions please let me know!
Thanks Rusty, sounds so good. I'll keep practicing.
I appreciate that! Thanks so much! We all need to practice more! Have a great day buddy 👍
Great solo lesson Rusty - I like that never too old part LOL!!
Oh yes Karen we are never too old to learn something for sure! So good to see you here and I appreciate your great comments! Have a good weekend❤️
67 years trying to learn how to solo……I have listened to several of your videos. I appreciate how simply explained and demonstrated your teaching approach is. Thank you Rusty! I have noticed the presence of your bible in the background of your videos. Then I see that you have a worship guitar series. This is where I dwell and can apply what you teach. Blessings!
Thank you so much! I’m happy that you found my channel! Enjoy your week ahead! Blessings to you also 🙏
Thank you again Rusty. I feel like we're good friends. I'm the guy that at about 10 years old set down with a book that had cords in it and i learned what i could. I have never had any lessons but what a few friends showed me. But I'm learning from your lessons what I need to learn and focus on to get better. That's something I never got from any other people on RUclips. Thanks a bunch Rusty. You're playing and style is awesome as always. Thanks again Rusty
Thanks John! I feel like we’re friends also! We have a lot in common! I was also just shown some chords. And just tried to figure it out from there for many years. I love teaching and I’m also trying to get a little better every day myself. Always good to see you here bud! I do appreciate your support! Have a great weekend 👍
Hi Rusty,
I'm practicing here today and ironically I'm turning 56 tomorrow and this lesson of yours popped up in my feed so after laughing a bit I checked it out and it's such a cool lesson. It sounds so good with the C and F together of course too. I like the little runs you do inbetween chords here so I'm trying to memorize a few of them so I can do it a bit more smoothly and hopefully without even thinking about it too much soon.
Thanks again,
Tommy~
Glad you clicked on the lesson! Early on I could not play around the chord like that but it’s a fun technique! Thanks for checking out my lessons! Much appreciated Thomas ✌️
*" Cool Master Rusty, superlike the title, learning never exhausts the mind for the things we have to learn before we can do them, we learn by doing them. Learning is not attained by chance, it must be sought for with diligence. It doesnt matter how old we are , learning is a continouus process. learning guitar solo at 60 who cares....as long as you have the heart "*
Thanks so much for your comment GTR! These are words of wisdom my friend! Yes if you have the heart to learn, you will learn! Have a wonderful New Year 👍
Rusty,this is absolutely beautiful improv.Just beautiful…
I appreciate that Coaltrain! Thank you ✌️

Thank you for that! Greetings from Chicago! Hope you have a great Sunday🙏
OMG you did it again great lesson in simplicity to play some laid back country😁
Thanks a lot Johnny! Simple is good sometimes! Enjoy your weekend 👍
Since the beginning I'm convinced that your advices are made especially for me... now that it's a question of age... I confirm: there is no age to start (very quickly !) to have fun with a guitar ! Thanks from France for all your useful stuff
Greetings from Chicago! Well said all weekend! Just have fun! Thanks for the comment buddy! Have a great week👍
Great lesson as always! You are never too old to learn the guitar or anything.
Thanks Kevin! Yes it’s good to learn something every day! Have a great Sunday 🙏
Awesome Rusty 👍🏻 thanks mate 👍🏻🏴🎸
Thanks so much Dave! Always good to see you! Have a great weekend 👍
Hi Rusty, never too old. as you say. We can all still learn something new.
All the best my friend...................................mick
Thanks so much Mick! Yes we are never too old to learn that’s for sure! I appreciate you stopping by and have a good weekend👍
Every video this man does is very knowledgeable information for any guitarist. When I was learning how to play the guitar, you learned the notes and then chords and pretty much technique’s more than music itself. These lesions bypass a lot of that, he shows you exactly how you solo over the chord progression and starting out on the C and F with a common C is basically teaching someone to play with a looper almost immediately. Great lessons.
I appreciate the positive feedback Leroy! Thank you for the kind thoughts 👍 Keep rockin buddy ✌️
The chord targeting always sounds so beautiful.
Nice Kevin! I wish I would’ve done more of that early on. Thanks for checking in buddy.😎
Oh~~ so good lesson !!!
Your sincerity stands out 😊
Thanks so much for sharing.
Have a good day!
So glad you liked the lesson! I appreciate your kind words and support! Have a great day 👍
Like 40,nice guitar tutorial, good job my friend.

Thanks Michael! I really love that guitar 🎸 Have a great Sunday 🙏
Mr Rusty. I know this is an older video and I haven’t spoken in a while bud I love your playing. Hope my fingers will get with the program.
I really appreciate this comment Timothy! My fingers don’t work like they used to but it is fun to pick up the guitar every day! Hope you take away something from the video lessons! Thanks a lot buddy 👍
I guess this applies to me 75 your lessons keep getting better, I have never made such much progress on RUclips before your lessons, thanks
This is a great comment John! It’s a great feeling knowing there’s some people out there who are getting something from the lessons! And if you ever have any questions don’t hesitate to ask buddy! Enjoy your day👍
@@rustysguitar1 The trick is, when you find someone that is a good fit stay with them the mistake I was doing was trying different lessons they keep popping up, it's like standing under Niagra Falls trying to drink all the water at once
@@jwilkinson341 That’s a good way to put it! Thanks for your support! So glad you are learning from the lessons 👍
hey rusty, i found your channel last week, been listen to you ever since, i notice something about your teaching, i been playing a lot of your licks, but i didnt no what i was doing, you know i mainly play by ear, but you are making it make sense, man i am so glad i found you
I don’t know a lot of theory either. A little better everyday is a good way to look at guitar playing! Thanks for your support Dwight. I’m glad you found the channel bud 👍
Thank you for the lesson, Rusty! Watching you switch between various C and F chords along the neck of the guitar and using those as your base for solo-ing, it helped to demystify the solo-ing process (which I find super intimidating most of the time).
So glad you liked the lesson! Yes using some chord tones in your solo and stick around your home base note is a good way to practice! I really appreciate your positive feedback Valerie! Thanks again and have a great week ❤️
Thanks for sharing my friend 👍👍🎼
Thanks for watching the lesson! Have a great weekend 👍
Your new set looks great! Very cool lighting!
Thanks for the positive comment Steve! I appreciate it! Have a great weekend 👍
Rusty I can't believe our community isn't no bigger than what it is you are simply genius in the way you teach!!!
When is channel blows up I'll be the one sitting in the back saying I told you so!!!!!🤯💥🔥💯
This is so kind of you to say! it is a lot of work to put these lessons together and I really do think it will pay off someday! Positive feedback like this really helps keep me going! I like the I told you so comment for sure! I hope that’s true. Thanks so much and enjoy the rest of your week✌️
I like to see that some time you strumm and play solo.
Rusty, if I were you, I would let the pause a little bit longer so that the notes have time to condense to our minds. Cheers from Indonesia.
Thanks for your comment! I will review this video and make some adjustments! Enjoy your weekend 👍
Nice buddy. Beautiful guitar playing. 😎😎👍🙌💯🎸🎸
Thanks so much, Mike! Always appreciate it buddy😄
Rusty your awesome but at my age I forget guitar solos ! LOL great video ! Your channel is really great my friend your doing it right !

You're never too old to learn anything, wise words Rusty! And a great lesson, really well put together
Thanks so much! Very appreciated! Yes we have something to learn no matter how old we are! Thanks again and have a great weekend👍
Awesome lesson Rusty. Now I just need to memorize the notes on the fretboard to play with fluidity.
It is important! Knowing the fretboard gives you lots of confidence! Most of us neglect this. More lessons on this topic coming up for sure. Thanks for checking out the video. Have a great day Bob 👍
Wise words ! You’re never to old ... there is so much to learn and discover ... I’m still
Learning new stuff today , like here how to build a tasty solo , triads yes and little slides and double stops ... simplicity is key .. thanx for the lesson ! , I’ll grab my guitar right now ... see what happens 🙏👍✊🎸
These are great comments John! It’s nice to learn a little something every day my friend! Your positive feedback is greatly appreciated also! Now I’m going to grab my guitar and see what happens! Ha ha! Talk to you soon my friend and have a great weekend👍
I need to figure out why I don't get notified from certain channels requiring me to search. I cannot believe I missed 3! I'm grateful to see I have some to watch tho. Hahah great work my friend. I truly adore these videos. I need it and many as well can use this info which is brought with such kindness and heart. I love the atmosphere about your entire video production. The tones the skill and the heart circle to form the entire package. Love this angle you made on this one. I'm a bit sorted with camper and places to shoot perspectives. Hahahaha. Anyway keep em up!!! Hope all is well brother.
So glad you stopped by and left these great comments! I do appreciate your support! Your positive feedback means a lot bud! Talk to you soon Robert 👍
Great Lesson!
So good to see you here Amanda! Thanks ❤️
Great lesson Thanks 🙏
Thanks so much Ric! I appreciate it! Have a great weekend 👍
Great lesson Rusty! It's so important to know what chord you are playing over and easy to lose track and just stay in one key. Sounds awesome when you change with the chords!
Thanks man! Yes it is hard to stay focused through a solo! It is important though! Have a great day 👍
This is really informative and inspiring, Rusty! Thanks for sharing!
Glad you liked the lesson! Thanks for watching! Have a great week 👍
Beauty lies in the simple things. I love your musicality, Rusty. Of course it´s stunning, when one shreds the scales as fast as possible, but the expression of some strongs notes has such an impact. Bravo, buddy !!👏🎸🙏

Another great lesson Rusty thank you so much..............a while back you did a great tutorial on melodic soloing..........I can improvise in the key of a song buy I not great with landing on chord tones or melodic soloing...............is there any chance you could do another lesson on melodic soloing? A bit more in depth...........if you could please if not no problem...........Paul from Ireland
Greetings from the USA! Thanks Paul! Definitely chord tone solo lesson! Coming up in the next few weeks! Enjoy the rest of your weekend buddy 👍

Your lessons are all great, thanks for sharing. Have you ever considered making the tabs for your music?
I would be delighted to buy them and I'm sure many of your followers as well.
Thank you for your feedback, Javiar! Honestly, I don’t like to use tabs. If you see and hear it, you’ll never forget it. But if that helps you learn that is great. I hope you have a great weekend and talk to you soon.👍

Great stuff Rusty! And your tone is always amazing. Are you using any pedals or just straight through the amp?
Thanks Stephen! Using the Carr Mercury V with a Strymon timeline and a J Rocket Audio Archer drive pedal! Clean but fat sounding! Have a wonderful Sunday 🙏
