What can I say. Brilliant video. Chris, Rob you guys have no idea how much your videos lift my spirits. This time of the year is especially hard for me, as an ex Army infantryman of many years rememberance brings mixed memories and emotions. But your videos since I've been a subscriber has helped no end. Thank you so much. I'm sorry for such a long comment. But wanted to say thanks.
sorting the geezer out with a grand was very kind, i was thinking a monkey maybe?. No b post damage and all doors and panels in colour found in 24hours, good things happen to good people! ....u deserved that touch boys!
I recently bought a 2016 VW Passat estate highline GT 2.0TDI 150bhp. Blue on black 1/2 leather half alcantara, nice spec. It’s had a full ceramic coating, detachable tow bar fitted front and rear VW winter mats, VW boot liner and VW mud flaps. I’m absolutely made up with the car perfect family car for me. Much better than an SUV as the boot is twice the size of any comparable SUV.
For me I always go for an Estate over an SUV unless it's full size and needed for a very specific reason like towing then I'd get a Discovery. I've been delighted with my Saab, Audi, Volvo and now Mercedes "long roofs" yours sounds great!
These passats are awesome car, i have owned 2 of them. One got totaled this summer and the second one is my current daily driver. Total of 90 000km driven in these cars and still not tired of it
Rob,4 hours to drive to Cannock versus 4 hours train and hanging around time plus taxing and insuring the car,i would have gone in the truck, very nice car cant wait for the next vid.
What a great result. Chris can work his magic on the rear quarter and bolt the other bits on, a bit of paint and all ready to be sold. What a great car, I bet it goes very well and sticks like you know what to a blanket :-)
That vid was a standard length but only felt like a 5 minute video. I think because we were all waiting for it we were itching and just didn’t seem very long at all. Can we get some longer videos or even maybe a live stream of a repair sometime rob and Chris?
It goes to show what looks bad on the outside isn’t always bad, undo a few nuts and bolts source the replacements and you’re on the road again, Rob took a gamble obviously he’s looked it over and crossed his fingers, great decision to buy it and definitely once fully repaired a lovely car for someone, with Chris and Rob sorting it out this will be an amazing car, sold within seconds when it goes on Instagram.
To the rest of the world: this car is totaled out and not worth worrying about. To Rob and Chris: it is a car that "looks very, very nice". Viva la difference!!
I’m from Cannock from the make of the truck I can guess where this bump happened it’s a right accident black spot. And if all your viewers around here contacted you after they had a bump in this particular place you would never be short of salvage! Great video lovely to see you cracking on with it!
drove from london to germany in a 3.0 24v senator, pressed down on the drivers side window to show me passport, never went back up the whole journey, at night in autumn, 200kmh on the autobahn got proper frozen LOL
Brilliant video I work as a tech in a VW dealer mate this motor is rare as, lovely and effortless to drive. Bringing a banging motor back from the dead. Rob and Chris the doctors at work again
That VW Passat looks very optimistic with doors & front guard from "German Express". Looks a satisfactory candidate for a quick turnaround. Look forward to seeing the balance of reassembly. Thanks for taking the time to explain that you are now off to a new adventure before completing the VW. 😎😷👍
#funfact - There's a place called Cannock Chase. When I was in the UK quite a few years ago I was riding an old Yamaha YZ 250 D, tearing up Cannock Chase. That was until Staffordshire Police turned up and told me off. I had to push my bike back to my Cousin's trailer. We ended up at a pub.
You landed on your feet with this one. I cannot believe that this car was given a category S rating. The vehicle structure is undamaged and what damage was left when the doors were removed is cosmetic.
That car should have factory rear tints anyway, they are only 25% so hes had more tint added to the rears to make it darker, you can remove the rear tint and reveal the standard tint. Edit: you can tell by the rear window, if you can see the brown lines from the rear window defroster it doesnt have factory tints, If you cant see them then it does, rewatching the video I'd say hes had the already factory tints re tinted.
It was good that you put it on slow motion when Chris was removing the doors n stuff. I know it might have look speeded up to the untrained eye but some of us know better. Chris is a wizard
Thanks for another great video. That’s a lovely car. When the guy who sold it to you sees your finished job I wonder if he’ll fancy buying it back! What a smasher for someone.
Loved this one! Wife absolutely loves her Passat B7 (North American variant). I recently went home to the UK and picked up a full set of door actuators for her car since it was cheaper, and I wanted the European better quality actuators. They fit like a glove and work great. Definitely prefer the look of the UK/European Passats over the North American ones I see out here
Who wished they had Chris’s energy. I can buy them ( just about ) … sell them. Monkey can sell them right money. Cannot fix them for toffee. Though. That 2 quid extra leaving from Euston tho !!!!! Outrageous error Chris. I’ve had about 3-4 blond moments this year. Been Cass instead Leeds. Sheff instead Birmingham. I’ve also driven a windowless car 3.5 hours. Still cannot fix em. Wish I could.
Hi rob, you give me a good laugh with your travels, please don’t change direction ( forgive the pun) and start a travel vlog you’ll get lost coming out of your drive 😇, great post and a a nice gesture giving you first dibs on it,
You two always look as though you're having such a good time, you're lucky to have a job you enjoy. Another great SRUK video; ok it's a nice car and all (and I'm genuinely interested in the repair) but your positivity and enthusiasm are what keep me coming back.
She did drive herself but after she had a mishap and drove through het neighbour’s fence Dan Akroyd decided to hire a chauffeur for her against her will. She eventually warmed to the chauffeur and they became good friends. Rob’s driving isn’t that bad, most of the cars are damaged before he gets them.
Jammy or what ??? What I absolutely love about you guys is your honesty and the seamless way you work together. A fait share of work and waffle - no names no pack drill. Long may it continue !
wow Rob what a stroke of luck getting them doors and wing in the same colour and Chris make it look so easy when you see him stripping cars that's going to be one amazing car for someone when it's all finished and can't wait to see more keep them coming guys 💯💯💯👍👍👍👍
It looks as though you have landed on your feet once more with this one, and no parachute required! It looks like a lovely project car for you two with just a bit of fettling required, all in a day's work for Chris I am sure, have a great weekend.
What an absolute beautiful passat !! Well done guys yet again on an absolute amazing video, good content, love to see this one finished quickly and sold on !!
I do like a passat. It about the only big german car you can drive without looking like your selling weed. Does make you wonder why insurance cost so much when they cat s on that damage.
What a throw away world we live in today. How can any insurance company wright off a car with that sort of damage. I makes a mockery of being good to the environment , scratch it and chuck it in the bin!!!
Great result on the post being ok and matching colour parts, gonna be a lovely car when finished, nice to see chris back with u, another good one lads 👍👍
I think the insurance companies can determine it as a write off anywhere from 50% of the value up,which is easy to get to when using genuine oem new parts in their estimate.

The chap was very lucky that the insurers didn't void his insurance, regarding the illegal tints on the front door windows.
'Euston, we have a problem'! Nice video Rob.
I know garages have to use new parts. But scrapping that car is outrageous
These passats are awesome car, i have owned 2 of them. One got totaled this summer and the second one is my current daily driver. Total of 90 000km driven in these cars and still not tired of it
Interested to see the insurer paid out for an illegal tint.
It wouldn't be an SRUK train collection caper without Rob getting lost or muddled up with where he's going lol 😆
Always buy a return ticket when going on the train to look at cars! I’ve learned the hard way 👍 also- we don’t buy cars from Birmingham or Luton!
I can guess why.
Rob,4 hours to drive to Cannock versus 4 hours train and hanging around time plus taxing and insuring the car,i would have gone in the truck, very nice car cant wait for the next vid.
Some of the best car based content on RUclips.

You’ve got a right result on that Rob really nice car 👍👌
I’m having that. Absolutely. That’s mine. My lads needs a new car and he loves VAG. And he’s gonna be a dad in January. What a perfect car.
This was one of them videos what just wasn’t long enough I could’ve watch this for an hour !
Cracking result on sourcing parts
