Apparently this marked the end of the NFL on CBS when they had the rights to air NFC games, after which FOX took over the next season. It would be four years before CBS brought back the NFL when they took over the rights to air AFC games from NBC in 1998 (the NFL would return to NBC in 2006 with Sunday Night Football).
The late, great John Madden did a lot of ads for a number of companies/brands back in the day, especially for Ace Hardware and Tinactin, a couple of which are featured here. No wonder he loved to say "Boom!'.
