I have a personal experience that illustrates the situation with our universities' ruined reputations. About 20 years ago my daughter graduated from the #3 fashion school in the world. It was tough breaking in to the industry in NYC, but everywhere she went she got mad respect for her skills and work ethic. It wasn't long before she was in a position to mentor interns. It also wasn't long until she noticed a drastic decline in the quality of interns, such that she stopped accepting them. Why the decline? School changed their philosophy to make it easier to get in, easier to graduate. They make more money that way. Never mind that the school is no longer one of the best in the world. Never mind that it's now selling fake tickets into the absolutely brutal and overcrowded world of fashion. What will a college degree mean in the future? You know the old saying. Bachelor of Science? Yes, that's. B.S. What's a Ph.D.? Piled higher and deeper. Not to say everyone is a loser in this scenario. Just that universities need to stop handing out degrees like toothbrushes at the dentist's office.
All she had to do was denounce the students' comments. She could firmly add that they have a right to speech but recognize that hate speech is not acceptable.
Were I a kid who just graduated from any of the ivy leagues, presently attending, or even a recent alumni? I would start a class action to get my money back from them, as they have destroyed their reputation as an institute for higher education, and has tortuously destroyed your ability to get work because of the deleterious reputation the schools have decided to promote, support and defend. Their degrees are now all but worthless and not worth the paper they are printed on. They have BIG endowments too…GET ‘EM! Laws need to be instituted that these institutions may not receive foreign money or money from any subsidiaries or involvement from foreign source outside the nation. We now see how they are poisoning our schools.
Talk about not being able to read the room. I'm always baffled by how successful people can also be oblivious to reality. I would interview Harvard Grads but hiring them will depend on the context.
It's also a fundamentally incoherent philosophy which actively rejects scientific rigour. So everything involved with it tends to descend into chaos. I hope more people now realize that, rather than just concluding _"We should add Jews to the Progressive Stack."_
Harvard alumni need to start a class action suite against the university and personally against the president. She has singlehandedly devalued a Harvard degree and should be held accountable.

I'm sorry, but if you - as an educated man - haven't figured out that the random assignment of victimhood to certain groups on the basis of innate characteristics isn't the foundation of this vile ideology, you're either completely ignorant or you've been sleeping for the last decade. If you don't see that DEI is nothing more than racism with a friendly face, you don't understand or want to understand what this movement is all about. But it isn't about justice.

The toxic mindset of certain universities is permeating beyond their campuses, influencing the minds of individuals who genuinely believe in unsustainable values. The younger generation, including students from prestigious institutions, do not seem to grasp the complexities defining our generation. Consequently, many lend support to organizations whose objectives are not focused on liberating their people but rather on imposing radical religious agendas across entire regions. The critical question arises: What strategies can be employed to counteract the influence of this toxic mindset and promote more constructive and inclusive ideologies?
Good for you, Edelson. :) We saw the same thing in Canada - including in some of the regulated professions. EDI didn't mean everyone was included, it meant that you were categorized into "white man" or "straight man" and that meant you had to shut up and let "people of colour" tell you why they were the "victim" of all these stupid things that were apparently the "white man's" fault. Not only were the lectures incredibly dumb; they basically did a 180 on MLK's dream that everyone be judged not by the colour of their skin but by the content of their character. All of a sudden the modern woke movement is really just another way to boost the status of "victims" (whoever that is this week, but apparently not Jews for some reason), they want to be special. They don't want the level playing field they want to get affirmative action going for them. I'm all for free speech - but calling for the genocide of a people is hate speech which does not have 1st Amendment protection.
This guy was ok with the division as long as his group was included as victims instead of oppressors. The fact of the matter is that the whole ideology is wrong. But perhaps the enemy of my enemy is my friend?

1:05 “One of the people with the biggest megaphones in the world, and can’t say . . . that genocide of Jews is wrong?” The question wasn’t whether genocide is wrong, but whether advocating it violates Harvard’s code of conduct. Given Harvard’s history of restricting speech on campus, it is fair to criticize Dr. Gay for holding a double standard, however.
As a conservative and a Jew who once lived in New York, I wouldn't say the phrase "New York liberal Jew" has been a slur or a term of disparagement. Rather, it's more of a stereotype. that was a good one yes I call them HAM-ASS lol

He's completely right. As a progressive Jewish woman and immigrant I feel completely abandoned by my party and my movement. Oct 7 revolutionized my entire perspective on the extremes of this movement. I've even started listening to conservative commentators like Ben and i have to say i find myself agreeing with more than i expected.
Same omg (and i was a mega liberal)
For the past two decades you just stood around and ignored all the anti-white hatred being taught in these brainwashing institutions but now suddenly you care because their hate is aimed at you. Enjoy the monster you helped create.
Am in India, and was slowly gravitating towards the left, and there are many like me. The Oct 7 incident actually affected us deeply and a lot of us swung right. Israel actually ensured that the present right-wing government won the recent State elections and is likely to win the nationwide general election of 2024. We have suffered from Islamic terror attacks in the past with thousands dying, so we viscerally related to this.
If you completely abandon the left, things will improve in our country and in Israel. The left is destroying all countries of the West, and wants to destroy Israel.
It’s not your party. Thats the thing. Theres two parties in this country and independents don’t count because even if all registered independents voted, if 2% of republicans or dems vote, they’d still lose. So l discount them from now. The two parties don’t care about you and idk why you think people who don’t know you would care about you…like where in the history of politics has that happened?
Islamists always take help from the left to pursue their goals. This is a fact and I am glad that finally the American public gets it.We have the same problem in India.
Its so funny as they are extreme right wing in every single policy. I can't really understand the left.

These students want their college loans excused as well 😂
I have a personal experience that illustrates the situation with our universities' ruined reputations.
How can Harvard teach an ethics course when they can't outright condemn genocide?
Gay out from Harvard. It's 1st step for recovery!
Talk about not being able to read the room. I'm always baffled by how successful people can also be oblivious to reality. I would interview Harvard Grads but hiring them will depend on the context.
If that context was in regards to taking on garbage collectors, I'd say you should interview them.
This guy needs to realize that the foundation of DEI is rooted in extreme ideology. THAT'S how this happened. It was always inevitable.
It's also a fundamentally incoherent philosophy which actively rejects scientific rigour. So everything involved with it tends to descend into chaos. I hope more people now realize that, rather than just concluding _"We should add Jews to the Progressive Stack."_
Exactly. And he refuses to connect the dots.
Harvard alumni need to start a class action suite against the university and personally against the president. She has singlehandedly devalued a Harvard degree and should be held accountable.
Common 'liberal' mistake: antisemitism is core to fringe far-right groups, but also to mainstream socialism and communism. Karl Marx was extremely antisemitic, the Nazis were socialists, etc.
As company, you now have to be VERY careful with any applicants from Harvard, UPenn MIT etc. ... If someone found out later you hited a person who screamt about killing all jews, your company will be done. So no one in their right mind would risk that now.
If I had a company I would also want to get my hands on that signature list, I want to know who not to hire.

As a retired lawyer and judge, I can remember being responsible for our articling students. They were all smart; but which ones would make good partners? As you know, closed partnership meetings can be very “hairy”, so to speak. So, today, after taking into consideration Gay’s comments, we might shy away from some Ivy League law school graduates. Is this discrimination? Bull shit; this is keeping the firm on future stable ground.
@rickfellman91 Keeping the firm on solid ground. That's bullshit, and you say you're a former magistrate, I can see why.

I’ve seen the dorms. They are dark, spare, depressing with a singe bare bulb in the ceiling. I was astonished. Where did all the endowment money go? They have more money than some countries and the dorms are dreadful.
I love it that these corporations are taking a stand against anti-semitic universities and students. Thank God there are some who have the guts to ensure there are consequences for this vile behaviour.
I'm a conservative and have been mistaken for far right. Like most, wrongly. I am 💯 on board with Israel's right to self determination and constantly inhabiting the region for over 3500 years. How can an ultra small minority be the oppressors.
Do not accept employees who are radicals or remove them from their work. Dont these protesters not working? All talk and no action is useless.
When Liberal realize their supposed friends are goose stepping...
Great. This must grow.
It’s crazy that Mr. Edelsen thinks liberals are caring and compassionate.
Does a call to defund universities from a total waste of taxpayers' money also depend on context?
Penny Pritzer is too woke and into DEI to be concerned about antisemitism
Tell me what woke means. Then tell me how it started.
Good for you, Edelson. :)
We saw the same thing in Canada - including in some of the regulated professions.
Good for you Mr. Edelson. Thank you.
Well done . Harvard needs to wake up
HamasVard university...😅
If the choice is backing deranged psychopaths or not,the choice is easy.
This guy was ok with the division as long as his group was included as victims instead of oppressors. The fact of the matter is that the whole ideology is wrong. But perhaps the enemy of my enemy is my friend?
Nice try. Nowhere did he say antyhting like that or even suggest. Yet your take from the conversation is that he invokes victimhood.. Seriously Ivy league educated by chance
Harvard, U-Penn, and MIT will suffer the "Bud Lite Effect" for a very long time after this...HARVARD in particular will face for the First time dealing with the results of producing Graduates many organizations will not want or even entertain as potential new hires.
They care about their self righteousness which is based on victimhood and hate.
common sense is basic input to generally acceptable human reasoning any non-law graduate can acquire so long as s/ he is emotionally intelligent. This was not seen in the way the university president answered inquiries during the hearing - reflecting the kind of students studying/ graduating/ recently graduated from that school. It's just the name of the school which doesn't translate to street-smart humane thinking process.
Boycott these so called Ivy U crooks! It all depends on context! Youre gonna see some context from now on!

I still don’t understand why and how people persecute Jews????😵💫
You people better wake up !!!
Once you start seperating people into groups you will always end up with groups hanabalizing each other.
Good, teach Harvard a lesson they won't forget.

As a conservative and a Jew who once lived in New York, I wouldn't say the phrase "New York liberal Jew" has been a slur or a term of disparagement. Rather, it's more of a stereotype. And like many stereotypes, there's some truth in it, since Jews in New York have traditionally voted for Democrats. (However, as a group, they demonstrated some common sense when they helped elect Rudy Guiliani to be mayor of New York City.)
