Great video Gary as always. What's the name of the place in Lansing, Michigan that you send the valve bodies out for rebuild?

Called Reamman valvebodies or Great lakes Powertrain

Hello Gary! I have a Borg Warner M8 out of a 1960 Rambler Super. I recently went to drive the car, after letting it warm up, and it will not engage in drive or reverse. I plan to go through the transmission, do you have any ideas of what could be wrong? I would love any expertise you could share. Thank you!

If it does not move hot, sounds like a clogged filter

Gary. Where can I buy those transmission manuals?

Hi, Gary this is off topic from this video but I was watching your 5r110w content as I have a difficult E350sd I’m working on.
The trans was brought to me stuck in second, converter and other clutches were smoked.
Got a rebuilt one and it would violently bang into every forward gear. We put a different transmission in (another rebuilt) and the van did the same thing. Now it will hard shift when cold but when hot it will chatter/ buck so hard the entire van is moving. It does this in any manually shifter gear as well as when ever it does shift by itself which is rare. Looking at the drive line as it does this it looks like it’s binding somehow. Also the van will work perfectly in reverse 99% of the time. I have had the guy who rebuilt it look at it and he’s never seen this.
Do you by chance have any suggestions as to what Is going on or what I should test to see what’s happening? Also van has 0 codes (used Snapon triton D8 and another high end scanner).
Any help or information would be appreciated as I’m pulling my hair out and just don’t understand how the transmission can be bucking so violently and not have a single code.
    Thanks for you time,
    Bob

If no codes, and it shifts hard, i would put a pressure gauge on this to see whats happening

@@GaryFerraro ok I will get one and see, how much different is the line pressure sensor data to the gage? Is that sensor anywhere accurate to actual pressure? As I can give you that now if it’s relevant.
Watching the driveline it looks like it’s spinning forward like a 1/4turn then back wards like 1/8th then forward. I was thinking if maybe reverse solenoid is sticking, as reverse is almost normal so is it possible it’s in engaging forward and reverse? How would that look on a pressure gage if it’s possible to happen?
Also if I disconnect the trans plug for the solenoids I should still get 1 forward gear and reverse?
I appreciate the response and help and enjoy the content!

@@cheeseo9798 You need 0 to 400 psi gauge with the hose to hook up to main line pressure tap

@@GaryFerraro hey Gary I just uploaded a few recordings to this RUclips channel of the line pressure while doing some tests. Cold the trans works fine but around 100-140 fluid temp it starts violently shaking entire vehicle which is the clunking noise in some of the shorts.
