      Plus, Western countries stance rarely benefits Malaysia. From their palm oil policy which the actual agenda was to protect their own vegetable oil. Ideologies / culture (like supporting Israel, asking us not do diplomacy with certain embargoed countries, etc.). If we don't abide them, they'll try to take our economy down.
      I still believe Western power use economy as new imperialism. It is logical why many Malaysian supports decoupling from USD.

    • @johnnydna9791
      @johnnydna9791 2 месяца назад

      Developed countries cannot just ship wastes to underdeveloped countries if the recipients do not allow it. It only happens when corrupt officials are paid off to ignore the problems. In the case of Malaysia and Phillippines, bogus companies were set up in these countries to get lucrative contracts to "recycle" the wastes. Upon receiving the wastes, they were just dumped in some isolated areas. Government officials were not monitoring for compliance and the bogus companies walked off with the money without doing anything. And monitoring was never carried out by senders or receivers.

    As an outsider it’s a very interesting topic. There is no debate about history and how colonists treated their colonies. There is a reason why these words contains the word colon.
    The waste issue can be seen 2 fold. On one hand if the waste contains valuable minerals that are used to manufacture products which Malaysia is good at, high end electronics and computer parts, then it’s a benefit because those materials are needed and helps to continually feed that commodity market. However waste that cannot be reused to turn into product which further the local economy is a problem, but don’t forget, setting up a plant to treat waste still creates many construction jobs to build the plant and then new jobs for continuing to run the plant. It’s not all entirely bad. It’s only bad when labour and talent to build and then run these plants are controlled and exploited by owners who don’t have the local people’s interest at heart.

    • @TanSpeakersCorner
      @TanSpeakersCorner 2 месяца назад +1

      It iş always about implementation & maintenance, those are the things we are not known for, thus making this type of industry unsustainable.

    • @vftw6086
      @vftw6086 2 месяца назад +6

      I agree to a certain extent. But setting up plants to recycle waste while emitting harmful gasses into the air - I think it's a big no. Even more so when the developed nations are calling for zero net carbon and preaching about global warming while requiring nations around the world to join this noble cause of theirs - hypocrisy at its best to say the least. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely am all in for a greener sustainable environment but that's a separate issue.
      Not to mention, we need lands to store these waste that land on our shores. No matter how efficient a plant can be, there will definitely still be a pile of rubbish waiting for their turn to be "recycled" by these plants of ours.
      Anyway sending waste to another nation is just beyond wild no matter how you look at it. It's no different than giving away our leftover foods to stray animals or throwing your rubbish our of your house to your neighbour's bin because yours is full.

    • @A2KLAU
      @A2KLAU 2 месяца назад +3

      @@vftw6086 that’s a very true point, I see where you are coming from. A possible way to stop the stock piling is using a “just in time” method but that requires careful planning and management, but when talking about rubbish it’s an unstable supply chain and transportation takes long periods of time so very difficult to respond so on paper it’s a good idea but impossible in practice. Collectively we can continue to hope with the advancement of newer and newer technology, and sustainability being a topic of focus, it will drive recyclers to be greener and emit less harmful by products. Hypocrisy of western politics has always been something that fascinates me, and something that is still so strong regardless if they admit to it or not. I could go on and on about this even from a recent public exchange with some Caucasian adults who should know better on a local community Facebook group, but this reply is already long enough and appreciate anyone who reads this far 🙏

      Besides If we Malaysian can already feel the heat with illegal immigrant and over supply of low cost migrant workers, then put yourself in the shoe of Westerner who felt worse hence the rise of right wing populism. This is the reason why Obama pivot to Asia has failed because their diplomacy cannot sustain with their internal politics. In layman terms, they want us but they also don’t want us.
      We are a small nation and will always live under a form of colonialism or we can call it a world system. Without China past “imperialism”, Melaka already become Siam. Without British colonialism, we may not be one of the performing economies in South East Asia.

Till now there is yet a shiny beacon of Islamic country that we can refer other people to. Dubai? Qatar? All those are just petrol money run by foreigners. But the reducing of interest rates however would benefit those looking into taking up a loan to invest into opportunities. Mortgage be cheaper hence property prices would be first to be inflated which in turn would spur new housing development thus increase in GDP. Lowering interest rate do encourage economic activity due to higher disposable income but mostly are in the form of money you don't have, in the form of debts.

    BRICS gonna cause a rise in inflation in Malaysia due to the growing trade deficits with BRICS nation and the fact that settlement be made using MYR as in MYR outgoing means the government would naturally increase M0 supply thus creating higher inflation. However, those payment I believe will be invested back into the Gov Treasury which rightfully would result in the increase of price due to higher demand resulting in lower interest rate which does not help in maintaining or lowering inflation. MYR/USD will improve but wont make living in Malaysia any cheaper, as a matter of fact would instead provide more venues of benefit for the local businesses. No benefit whatsoever for the people, the rakyat. My take.

    yeah, it's nice in theory. Malaysia might want to join BRICS, but does BRICS want Malaysia? Let's face it, in G7 the taiko is USA and most of the members have to listen to US because US provides the military and security foundation for these nations. BRICS? China and Russia are the taiko, and they would want to keep it that way. Why would they want small countries like Malaysia to join them especially when too many small country members will dilute their voting power. Can you imagine Malaysia population 30 million and GDP 400 billion have the same voting power (one country one vote) as China population 1.4 billion and GDP 18 trillion. The big guns in BRICS know this. That is why BRICS membership acceptance has been put on hold. If they allow you to join BRICS, they will need to put a system in place to ensure that their decision making powers will take precedent. Don't be surprise if Malaysia and other small countries are only made 'associate' member.

      Joining with perpetrators? We don’t really know who shoot it down yet as both the Russian rebel and Ukrain force are not trustworthy but what we do know is, why the heck is our civilian plane flying to warzone in the 1st place but what is definitive is it uses GPS (Us technology) and they have a history of interfering with it for geopolitical gain.
      Now look at Mh370, how the heck can it go missing in today’s day and age? Again let’s look at the fact, on board MH370 there are a dozen of US semiconductor specialist enroute to Beijing Airport and subsequently Tianjin to setup R&D center. It doesn’t take a genius to piece together the most logical cause of missing Mh370 is the conflict between China and Us behind the scene. A year after MH370, trade war targeting Huawei is made official, coincidence? All these information can be easily verified on major news website such as Reuters.
