    The problem for me is that the designs are not copyrighted. The US law now defined that AI generated art is not protected by copyright because a machine / algorithm is not able to create a protectable artwork. That means everyone can just take your pictures and resell them because you are not able to claim them as copyrighted. That is a big risk when releasing digital products.

    • @inkpearls3364
      @inkpearls3364 10 месяцев назад +12

      Actually they would have big balls if they did that without knowing FOR SURE that it was AI created. If you pay for a Midjourney top tier plan then your designs are PRIVATE on there & won’t be seen by anyone. Also, you can alter the designs/images you create via AI before listing them and then they ARE your own & can’t legally be copied.

    • @Sina-aka-potatosupreme
      @Sina-aka-potatosupreme 10 месяцев назад +6

      @@inkpearls3364 This whole video is about making AI art to sell, so it is pretty clear that the art sold by this account is AI generated. The AI copyright also doesn't go as far as you can copyright claim a picture that you edited. The picture is still not copyrighted, ONLY the small (or bigger) parts that you edited are subject to copyright. Also only when it gives the piece some additional creative value. Changing colors or cleaning it up / changing background for example won't count. I was shocked by that too, but that's the law.
      For me it is problematic that there is no actual legal base for making AI art and selling it because I can not be sure that it won't be "legally" stolen because it is kind of a free for all. It is not an option for my business because of these risks. Yet this video shows it as a business opportunity. I think people should be aware of that.
      I also don't talk about the moral problems with AI art in general, because that is something everyone has to make out with themselves if they want to do that. When someone wants to be accepted in any actual art community they should not use AI though.

    Do you use any software to convert the files from the 72dpi (5000x5000) most programs seem to save as to 300dpi (5000x5000) or leave it to the customer to actually do the final conversion? I also would like to know, how and when do you get it to 300 DPI so that printing quality is sufficient? Thank you Bailey!

    • @katlis
      @katlis Год назад +1

      The dpi in an image file is just metadata, and it doesn't change the print quality. A 5000x5000 pixel image with 72dpi embedded in the file data will print exactly the same regardless if you change the dpi to 300. The only time someone has to worry about dpi is when speaking in terms of physical size (like inches), not pixels. In this case, I think the clipart sellers just use 300dpi as a buzzword unless they are mentioning the physical size, like saying "These are 16.5"x16.5" when printing for 300dpi quality."

So even when I use photoshop, I have to remove some things manually, like in the hair, or grass.. it takes so much time and some of it I can't remove at all. • @melissak9750
      @melissak9750 Год назад +1

      I'm new to doing this as well, and learning as I go on what my workflow is. I tried removing backgrounds in Canva and it does a great job - however, it converts a 300DPI image back down to a 72 DPI image when you download it after running the background remover. Plus, it's extremely time consuming, as you have to each image. I looked into MyDesigns but I think it's just too expensive for what I want it for (removing backgrounds). I'm likely going to go with a PixelCut Pro subscription - it does a great job and it's cheaper than MyDesigns as it's a month x month subscription, rather than credit based (I'm processing a LOT of clip art and I will run out of credits very fast). PixelCut can do it in batch as well and it does an amazing job at BG removal.
      So, my workflow would look like this:
      Download Midjourney images > take them into PixelCut and remove BG > Upscale using Gigapixel > Toss them into Photoshop to get the right size & DPI (I'm doing 3600x3600 with 300 DPI). I will record an action in Photoshop to do this all as an Automate > Batch for the entire folder and the process would be pretty fast.
      I hope this helps!

    Fantastic video, thanks! Just curious. I've tried this, and Midjourney is saying I have too many prompts, and I can only use a maximum of 4. So to use your prompt in this video as an example, I would only be able to put "{pumpkin, black cat, witch, potion}". Any more prompts would trigger this error. Is this to do with a certain subscription plan or is this to do with a new update to do with Midjourney? Thanks.

    Unbelievable. I have been doing this manually one by one for 2 months 😭😭. Okay now I feel like my shop is actually going to go through the roof with these tips. Question, is the background remover pretty good in my design? When I remove background in Canva or Photoshop sometimes it’s messes things up so then I have to fix it or scrap it. Any tips for that? I also have most of my listings at 300dpi but 2000px instead of 5000px like you. I see shops with all different numbers so idk what to think. Is it a huge difference? THANK YOU!!!!

      It's pretty much the best I've used to do it in bulk, rarely I have to clean up a few, which is why I always create extra in case I have to toss a few :) I like to keep mine at the 5000x5000 so it's usuable on something as large as a t-shirt or small flag

    Wow i enjoyed your video so much, because you are demonstrating all the process of how to sell on Etsy. The reason many people have their cliparts overlaping each other is for copyright purposes. So other people can not steal the images. Otherwise you must put watermarks on them. Thanks for making this video. It was really helpful to me. I appreciate the pace, the candor, the value. A big question i have is, Etsy is inclined to promote your listings because you bring in a lot of revenue for them as well.. What chance is then for newcomers who do the same process as you, to be seen? I think this is what most of us think/worry.. It is truly a question because as a new comer it isn't the same playing field as someone so successful as yourself 😊

    • @digitallypurposedbailey
      @digitallypurposedbailey  Год назад +1

      Thanks! I think every new listing gets equal opportunity as there is a 'honeymoon' period they get to see if they can convert. But yes, it still will be harder in the beginning as a few factors come into play such as reviews shown. For example, a newcomer may need to compete more on price or the design itself if standing next to mine that has thousands of reviews so I think anyone trying to compete with other successful shops should be spot on with their design, their listing photo, and of course their SEO.

      Hi! @jiggyplum7851! I'm assuming that you're asking about the listing image she created in Canva. In this case, you wouldn't want to select transparent background, because it would remove the really cute, but subtle, pink stripe background. Listing images are a sguare picture, such as mockups, which include background & all. You will need to have transparent backgrounds to place images on t-shirts, mugs, etc, so that the white or colored square won't print. So, if you're downloading an image to sell as clipart, not an Etsy listing photo, for a customer to use, you will usually want to remove the background.
