Maybe to one of the North Sea islands like Sylt, Amrum, Norderney, Juist or Spiekeroog, maybe check out Helgoland, because these islands have a complete different character and the sea feels more like an ocean. The Baltic Sea is more like a giant lake or something like this.

Nice that you have made the trip to Rügen, it seems it was fun for you even if you have not had such nice weather but that happens on the coast. Last year would have been a bit sunnier :-). Here are some suggestions for islands in the North Sea and maybe you have watched the videos about my home island (Borkum). But you should definitely check out Lübeck if you are travelling by car and are in the north anyway. It is a really beautiful city and reflects our north German culture impressively. The free citizens of this city were very rich and you can still see it today. It is also the birthplace of Thomas Mann (museum). A bit smaller but just as beautiful is Lüneburg not far from Hamburg. If you go back to the south you might want to stop in Braunschweig (old town) the city of Henry the Lion or maybe Goslar. There is much to see in the north :-)

Or if you really want to see an undestroyed medieval German town then you should go to Quedlingburg on your way back. It is a very historical city as the Ottonian emperors held their Easter reception there and it was an imperial Pfalz. Just as a hint.

10:30 - If you are lucky you can find amber on the beach after storms.

    • @armadspengler2717
      @armadspengler2717 4 года назад

...and if you're not so lucky you'll pick something up that looks exactly like amber but is instead washed-up phosphorus from the thousands of tons of incendiary bombs dumped in the Baltic Sea just after the war.
When it is dry enough and gets in contact with oxygen in the air it will start to burn instantely. Plenty of ppl have to be treated for serious burns with skin transplants every year because they put those pieces of "amber" in their pockets.

I Took advantage of my being stationed in Hanau Germany by traveling as much as possible. Did not have the opportunity to be with my soulmate. Best of luck to your travels and union. Keep posting. Hiking in Bern, Switzerland is a treat. The city is clean and the people very accommodating. At least visit the Swiss. I can still do without France (Paris). GL

Very nice that you visit the lovely island of Rügen, it's an awesome place, the island has so many things to offer.
The first time I was there was I guess in 1987.
We liked to use train called
Rasender Roland 🚂 Göhren, Putbus, Binz zur Mole.

3:14 That was the Hogwarts Express! :D
YOU are the first american youtoubers that i know which have visited Rügen!
And the best thing, i was in Göhren also from July 5. to July 19., but i didn't saw you. :(
I think you was there before us.
I don't know if you know that, but you was in the most beautiful part of Rügen the Mönchgut especially in the south were Thiessow, Gross Zicker and Klein Zicker are.I know exactly everything what you filmed and saw there. :)
Rügen is MY place for holidays, but you can have bad luck with the weather, Rügen is an island and the weather can be completely different from the rest from Germany. :)
And the shortest way from Germany to Sweden is from Mukran at Rügen! Mukran - Malmö

You should have told us before, there are a few bad weather options like a train ride with the "speeding Roland" (3:15, that's him) or climbing the Jagdschloss ( hunting lodge) Granitz (vertigo alert).
