@@kippdieganzeflascheindie7up Don't know if they still do it, but the stores would stay open later on the first Saturday of each month. Langer Samstag I think it was called. Would be a lot of shoppers out.

Nice video! I was stationed in this town from 1989 until 1992. Pond Barracks, home of 3/2 ACR. Shortly after our return from Desert Storm, the unit deactivated and the base was shut down. I stayed behind as a civilian living in Amberg. This was my second tour of Germany, the first being in a town called Herzogenaurach (1985-1988). I got married at the city hall of Amberg, to a young girl from the former East Germany. You could drive down some of the streets there but the city eventually made them pedestrian only. I would race the German guys in their little cars with a modified 1978 Camaro, then later a 1976 Corvette. After the Army I couldn't keep those V8 cars so I drove what they drove. Still have memories of drag racing on main street with 4 banger cars. Thanks for the video, brought back some great memories!

I love this little town. My father lives here for work and so I visited him a few times. Amberg is showing how beautiful it is to keep the walls. Unlike many other city's who destroyed them willingly or, in most times, destroyed in ww2 and not rebuild.

It's a tie for me, between Amberg and Sulzbach-Rosenberg. We spent almost every weekend taking a day out to one or the other the five years we were stationed at Vilseck in the 90s. Great times, just an absolutely amazing place to have the fortune to live in.

you guys should go by the former Pond Barracks where the U.S Army was until 1993. I was stationed there from 90-91. To this day, I have very fond memories of Amberg, GE.

What unit were you in? I was in How Battery. I was the hot rodder, owned that black 1984 Camaro with the tunnel ram, the blue 1978 Camaro and the white 1976 Corvette Stingray. Did you ever go to the MC club?

Guys, please behave yourselves when you are here. Many americans who are here think they are the greatest and have a very strange behavior. You are guests here, so please behave accordingly.

Guy, behave yourself. You think you're the greatest, as can be seen by this insulting comment. Please try to behave accordingly while posting .

Who says their not? I was stationed there from 69 to 71, as an M.P., so I was there to witness inappropriate behavior! Believe me at times it was embarrassing!

I'm not saying that these two people in the video are behaving bad. It was meant in a more general way. I could tell you several stories about this will go off topic. I'm noticing this thing since ~2010. Thomas if this does not fit into your view of life it's not my problem. We have again and again traffic accidents with Americans, even a fighter jet has crashed here before (outside the US military community). Arrogant / embarrassing behaviour of the Americans especially when you talk to them at parties. There are also attacks of traumatized US soldiers, who are only stationed here temporarily, on the German population. And so on. The most arrogant thing I ever heard was when a US soldier said to me that the lives of Americans are worth more than the lives of you Germans.
Don't get me wrong, I like the US, the people and the culture but there are also people that are representing the US in a negative light. Nevertheless I really enjoy the German-American Volksfest for example because most of the americans are nice and friendly people.
