    I love how among every few hateful comments are comments like "I hope it'll all be peaceful and beautiful one day." It just is really really nice.
    Also, Al Jazeera is doing amazing stuff making such documentaries. It's about being informed on all such issues. History should not be dealt in a way that we bury it but we should face it and look at what went wrong.

      Punjab is already split. Bengal is already split. They turned out fine. The people may have what they want, but at the end of the day, everyone knows it is the government who reigns, and neither India nor Pakistan will give up any land. If the first two are still OK after being split, Kashmir will be fine, and had been fine in the past. If they could just split the damn glacier and forget about the blood spilt in 47. Yes, 2 million deaths are bad, but it was not the worst, and are you going to just let one event define the rest of your life? You still have family and need to live. It is tragic, yes, but now you will hatea country for it? That is racist. South Korea gets threatened everyday now. People don't react to it anymore.
      Kashmir is not viable as an independent state to state with and India sees it as a threat to India's own existence, especially after the whole thing with Khalistan within and now independence movements like Scotland and Catalonia

      Divisive politics has always been used to agitate and polarize people for a very long time.
      Our leaders brilliantly use it for their own agendas.
      It's time to wake up and think for ourselves. Why do we hate each other? Who benefits from this hatred?
      Don't get carried away and follow any ideology with unquestioning discipline.
      Elected representatives, they represent us, they are answerable to us. We have the right to question Rahul. We have to right to question Modi.
      Don't let them forget they represent us. Don't forget we have the power. And don't forget to remind them that we won't be fooled so easily.
      And why is nobody talking about USA's interest in the formation of Pakistan? Now our sub-continent is destabilised forever. How do we find a resolution to the Kashmir issue without both sides bleeding excessively.

      I couldn’t agree more man. People from the border states - Punjab and West Bengal are dismayed and disgusted by the calls for war against Pakistan. It is only people from central Indian states living far from the border, who have no clue of what a civil war - brother against brother - feels like, who call for conflict and revenge. I come from a family of Hindu refugees 99% of whom were killed trying escape East Pakistan (Bangladesh) and come to India. I strongly believe friendship between our people and nations is the natural state of being. Only sick people who enjoy hate want conflict and revenge.

    My blood is boiling seeing the aftermath of British raj, it wasn't even our fault, British looted India, tortured people, caused famine and in the end divided our country which caused loss of life on both sides, we suffered so much while British were living blissfully in their castle enjoying the resources they looted from us and what's more ironic is that their current generation know nothing about British raj and in their history books they are never taught about the atrocities of their forefathers and their current generation thinks what they have now, rightly belongs to them. We even fought world war for them. And in the end they didn't had the balls even to carry out a proper partition.

      Jake Spoon animistic? dark?
      It's the benevolence of the land and its people that attracted the British to loot The Greater India ( Bangladesh +India +Pakistan ) hence dark may not be the right word. It was already a melting pot of culture, beliefs and faith along with vast natural riches with the longest surviving civilizations and cultural habits hence not barbaric as the land welcomed all and did its best to peacefully co-exist.
      What is culturally right in one place is not right in the other. I agree with a time certain practices need to change for better in all lands and this did happen and still does. the Feudal system was prevalent in all those countries who colonised other lands. The irony here is the pot calling the kettle black.
      No one can undo the past; there was /is good and bad gained from colonisation. Its the past and am sure many of us have moved on to live in the present. The largest democracy has done its best to hold together itself as One Nation regardless of the vast mosaic difference. India is what EU is trying to achieve :)

    • @leidersammlung6955
      @leidersammlung6955 5 лет назад +5

      @@DarshSiv The benevolence of the land perhaps, but certainly not all of its people, (think Thuggees , etc. , etc.) And yes the Feudal systems were dark indeed ,people fleeing its effects are what many of the colonies are comprised of. In my own USA, we had to fight two wars to rid ourselves of the British feudal system....and despite being a complete melting pot of people from different nations and races were able to coalesce around the idea of individual being sovereign...and that all government should exist for the benefit of individual freedom and safety.
      We've gone a long way in the wrong direction since then , ironically , the direction of those we expelled from this country so long ago!
      India's primary reason for exploitation is simply this . The Hindu religion . It sees nothing as either Good , or Bad...but in the context of time and place.....it attempts to include monotheism with it's many Gods.... worships the creation more than the Creator , attempts to keep many of it's good idea's alive through the worship of material objects; and in doing so introduces mysticism ,superstition , ritual , and confusion.
      To combat these forces you must seek a non-violent form of Monotheism. Realize that there is an ultimate Good , and also Evil , and choose which one you'd prefer . Seek after it totally. That's it. All else is confusion.

    • @DarshSiv
      @DarshSiv 5 лет назад +8

      @@leidersammlung6955 Jake Hinduisms Holy Baghwat Gita states the there is one Supreme and this is a Monotheistic religion is misunderstood by the non Hindus. As a practising Hindu and from the Holy Texts we believe the One Lord who manifests in many forms - hence its a Monotheistic religion that embraces polytheism a concept others cant grasp and to me, in my humble opinion there is no requirement for the approval from others walks of life towards mine.
      Our path is our own, where we believe all roads ( different practices / religious school of thought ) would lead to the same final destination - God. If not the almighty Lord would have cultivated the only right religion across all lands.
      Hinduism has clear codes of law; it's unfair for one to say we in Hinduism see nothing as Good /Bad. The Holy Gita where the Supreme Incarnate has given a discourse to a prince who refused to go to battle against evil is proof enough that Hinduism has a clear concept of good/bad and the consequence ( Karma). We further have the Upanishads that preach the code of life while the Vedas prescribe practices and understandings. The Holy Gita / Baghwadgeetha, however, is hailed high as the Lord gave the essence of life once again so man can understand the Ultimate Truth.
      Please do not spread the wrong message without understanding a religion. A curious mind/soul searched the truth and there is no harm in debating/questioning but to conclude a fact without experiencing it / understanding it may not be right

Although, there is no doubt that colonial Britain had failed to provide protection, millions of its subjects during the partition due to their lack of preparation and foresight, but collectively we (Indians and Pakistanis) have failed demonstrate kindness, humanity and dignity to our fellow human beings during the most vulnerable time of their life. Before British took over major parts of Indian territory was ruled by Maratha empire not many states fighting with each other. It doesnot matter how many kingdoms were there but the notion of India has existed since ancient time.

      Ever heard about Maurya and Gupt empire. These were empires existed many years before advent of Islam in this part of world. Megasthenese wrote 'Indica' on his experiences in India 2 thousand years ago. Adi Shankaracharya established four maths in four different directions of country. It was always known to foreigners as India. That's why an ocean was named Indian ocean.Yes there were many states later but there was always a realization that we are part of a single nation Aryavratt, Bharatvarsh or Hindustan as called by mughals.

    • @asifulalam2262
      @asifulalam2262 6 лет назад +3

      Nihal Pathak ofc I know about maura and gupta empire. I was talking about the name india. India is a name given by foreigners. Not by the people who lived there. Until British recognised this sub continent as India it was never "India". In that sense you can't say "India" was always there.

    • @nihalpathak3407
      @nihalpathak3407 6 лет назад +7

      The name India came from Hind which came from Sindh. So irrespective of what foreigners called India (India i.e. Bharat another name used in indian constitution) was always there. BTW our great epic Mahabharata which came into shape around 1800 years ago tells the tale of a the great Bharata dynasty.
      "उत्तरं यत्समुद्रस्य हिमाद्रेश्चैव दक्षिणम् । वर्ष तद्भारतं नाम भारती यत्र संतति ॥[3]
      This verse is taken from Vishnu puran (400-300 BCE). It says the sacred land situated on the north of ocean and south of himalayas is called Bharatvarsha and its people are called Bharatis. So it doesn't matter a bit what foreigners called we were part of Bharat or India since time immemorial.

      1. Monopoly of West Pakistan over East Pakistan (now Bangladesh)
      2. Urdu as their primary language and Arabic style over a 98% Bengali population
      3. Forced Islamization without cultural freedom as those people were more of a Hindi+Bengali community
      All this was ridiculous af and East Pakistan asked India for help and India liberated them. A major L for West Pakistan (now Pakistan)

    I hope one day the Indian subcontinent is united again. We look like each other, we eat the same food, we dress like each other but we remain divided even after independence. When I see an Indian from Kashmir, Tamil Nadu, Punjab or any of the other states, we probably dont speak the same language or have the same religion but we know we are Indians, we share that bond but when i see somebody else from the same subcontinent, who looks similar to us, who wears the same clothes, who eats the same food, I have to call him Pakistani not Indian. Doesn't make sense.

    an honest observation:I am a Bangladeshi and muslim by birth,but l am not a religious person.when l first studied about the devision of India and pakistan just based on religion ,l strongly CONDEMNED this.But then l started to realize something strange in the people of this indian subcontinent region,we are very intolerant of different ideologies among us.l was finally convinced that the division from india was actually good & better for many peoples (specially for the muslim minorities)when BJP came to power in india and the nature of hindu extremists was brought to day light.Many horrible things still happen in India that we cant even imagine in our country although we are not 100% developed.WE FEEL SAFE HERE. He got his power by turning people who used to live together into violent riotous monsters. The British set up the situation and Jinnah exploited it for his own gain, and both India and Pakistan are still paying the price. I don't understand why you are thanking him for anything.

    The British officers were not "unable to prevent", instead they actually facilitated riots and conflicts to blow out of proportion so that their presence could be justified.
    One of the easiest methods employed : sending police and military officers of one community into a village or urban area dominated by the other, to make it seem as if it's a Hindu-Muslim problem and the British are there to "actually maintain order". It's actually the opposite that's true - Britain has always got hold of minor fissures and disputes by pouring massive fuel into the sparks, making it blow up into a full blown fire, and then blame it on the "natives"

    There was no India Before British Colonialism.
    Indian subcontinent consisted of Numbers of independent Kingdoms and empires. British later Successfully unified of what now is India, Pakistan and Bangladesh. When it was time to leave British partitioned the subcontinent creating three new countries.
    So Indian friends who claim India was before. It is India happened after British but Bharat was before British. BECAUSE though independent kingdoms and empires, People of Indian subcontinent all shared core to core Religion, culture, ethnicity which unified as Bharat.
    BRITISH were unable to conquer Kingdom of Nepal and Kingdom of Bhutan at that time.
    Me as a Nepalese, Though we retaliated and threw British away, they cost us our lands which was once Nepal.
    Sikkim, Darjeeling and many more was once Part of Kingdom of Nepal . British offered us a treaty which cost us 1/3 of then Nepal. When British left this issue was not even resolved. It was Nepal with British the treaty was signed not India after independent. India should have returned which Belonged to Nepal.
    Even so , bygones are bygones. We cannot change what happened in the past even if we can, sacrifices has to be met . So we must avoid wars and conflict and reach to agreement brothers

    We will never be peaceful in both India and Pakistan unless we accept that the horrors of partition happened because of our own daemons. It was our societies that bred this horror and it erupted in 47. There were some valid reasons for minority Muslim community in India to be afraid of Hindus..not just Hindus but Hindu Brahmins and upper caste. Because they were politically and economically powerful. In an undivided India Muslim would have met the SAME fate the dalits have met. Things got worse when forefathers of RSS first accepted the Two Nation Theory..Even Congress was upper caste Hindu dominated...Jinnah saw the future. He knew upper caste Hindus have started to organise against minorities including dalits. He knew Muslims will be sidelined. Jinnah and Ambedkar even supported each other at one point. Slowly Jinnah accepted two nation theory that was first invented by RSS. The result - brutal partition. In free India we are STILL living in extreme caste violence , anti minority riots and STILL TO THIS DAY politics,media, business, power everything is centred in the hands of upper caste Hindus. India is essentially an apartheid state and simply blaming the British will not solve anything. The British took advantage of our own hatred for each other .

  • @boyzwithsols

    It is quite well understood among Indian and Pakistani communities all over the world and in their respective nations that partition was a British agenda to prevent civil war. To maintain a powerful military presence as the only sign of stability in Its country, Pakistan fought and lost 3 wars against India.Borders of blood may talk about partition but it is mostly highlighting how the Sikh community and the Muslim community was affected. Thousands of Hindus, Muslims, and even Christians died in the chaos.Kashmir is militarized only because Pakistan fails to realize that Kashmir can never be a part of Pakistan. Every single Indian can say that and the military of India has already proven that time and again. Unless the generals who actually control Pakistan realize this, the borders will always be bloody..Jai Hind

      It was Jinnah who demanded a separate Islamic country. No need to blame Nehru for it. It would be like blaming leaders of Russia, Thailand, Philippines, China etc for the islamic terrorists fighting for an islamic country in their respective countries.

      Look guys the enmity between us only is seen when we are exposed to propaganda,but if a pakistani and a indian meet up abroad they dont greet each other with abuses amd hatred,the point is that democracy as a concept was not understood clearly in the 1940s as due to democracy Germans created Hitler,similarly the fear of beong dominated by Hindus awakened in the muslim masses after the rally in Bengal in early 1900s where the bengali Hindus used the picture of Kaali Mata in the protests that ignited the fear even further as they misunderstood ethnic nationalism coupled with religious fanaticism,many Pakistanis think today that minorities dont live peacefully in a Hindu India and the same is for us Indians who think the same for Minorities in Pakistan,the common man in these countires wants peace not war,but to be factually correct the Pakistani army(not the regular soldier) is responsoble for creating the mess of terrorism as they should have dissolved these groups after the afghan war but did not take the initiative and now see where it has led to,many innocent lives lost,its not about being muslim,hindu,christian,sikh,etc. Nationality cant be defined by religion,culture and language is the basis for nationhood,thats why Bangladesh became free,i am a christian by faith but does that make me white? No,my ancestors were hindus from this subcontinent,similarly Muslims in the subcontinent are not Arabs the Pakistanis need to accept that as they are ethnic Baloch,Sindhis,Punjabis,Sairakis,Hindko,etc who were once Hindus,Buddhists and Zoroastrians ,also Muslim umma ka theka mat leke rakho the Arabs themselves despise Pakistanis,look at how they treat you guys in their lands,we are one people who were not united and other took advantage of it and divided us.

      Blue Tiger Yes, village ‘elders’ have tried and sentenced victims to death under the sharia. In recent years the government has tried and sentenced the ‘elders’ and participants to prison. I’m not saying that horrific things don’t happen. I’m not saying that a blind-eye isn’t turned to atrocities but these countries are trying to change and resent human rights.

    It was very nice to view borders of blood on aljazeera tv. The telefilm documentary however mentions very little about kashmir which is basis of dispute between two nuclear powers pakistan and india. The kashmir has its unique history having its own kings before comming of birtish empire to india when india was ruled by muslim empire the last of which was mugal king bahadur shah zaffar at kashmir the muslim king was zain ul abideen or famous budshah the last muslim king at kashmir. The overtake of muslim empire over india the fort of mughal empire famous red fort of capital city delhi.the birtish empire did not ruled kashmir directly but by way of treaty of amritsar and gave power to Sikhs known as Sikh empire of which the documentary borders of blood mentions as Maharaja simply meaning king in Hindi language. The birtish empire ruled kashmir through these Sikh kings by way of treaty of amritsar till 1947 after second world war a global political change emerged and finally birtish empire passed government of India independence act 1947 by which two nations were created by way of partition. The kashmir was given a free choice either to accede to india or pakistan. Father of nation of Pakistan MR Ali Mohammad jinnah visited kashmir of which the pakistani kabbilis or gurellas have taken control upto five kilometres of srinagar city in 1947 the political leadership of kashmir was headed by sheikh Mohammad Abdullah who made reading room party the Penrith Jawaharlal Nehru also visited kashmir in 1947 to get political support from kashmir leadership Maharaja Gandhi also visited kashmir to persuade kashmiri political leadership to accede to delhi in short kashmir is not part of india historically being having its own history culture ethics norms in form of thousand years history which no one can deny. The kashmiri political leadership under leadership of sheikh Abdullah founded muslim conference however at the eleventh hour changed it into national conference and entered into political agreement with new delhi which was incorporated into constiution of india as article 370 and article 35A and constiution of jammu and kashmir was framed for which three consecutive chief ministers of Abdullah family had ruled since last 75 years however on 5th of august 2019 parliament of india ended the accession agreement unilaterally and abrogated article 370 and article 35A and uprooted the constiution of jammu and kashmir. Pakistan finds its support from muslim conference since 1947 and various pro pakistani political parties also emerged in last 75 years openly supporting pakistan. However after 5th of august 2019 a political unrest is found at kashmir as india under might is right rule safeguarded its interests which were under article 370 viz communications defence and external or foreign affairs by way of biometricaly prisoning whole population at kashmir as well as communication blockades of which united states of AMERICA congressmen also showed deep concerns when from august 2019 till January 2020 whole communication mobile phones internet was blocked by india. UNITED states of AMERICA stresses about global military order of 1947 by which indian armies have moved inside kashmir and UNITED NATIONS RESOLUTION number 47 of which india is a signatory accepting kashmir as dispute before international community dating back 1947 however on 5th of august 2019 even UNITED NATIONS was astonished how it is union terrority when there is resolution 47 global military order of 1947 by which UN military observatory group is present at kashmir. However in early February 2020 when UNITED STATES president visited india he mentioned kashmir issue indicating clearly that Trump administration is fully aware of kashmir history. Hope aljazeera will make a full documentary on Kashmir as people at kashmir are SAYING it's not union terriority as claimed by india after 5th of August 2019 rhetorically and practically but UN terriority UNITED NATIONS terriority.
