I totally understand everything you’re saying in this video, I started playing football from as long as I remember myself and at 17 I got an opportunity to play in a Division 1 team in my country and I was extremely happy and also pressured, for the whole season I only came off the bench 5 times and made 2 assist, the pandemic came and sat out 2 years of competitive football and was training extremely hard during the time till I sort of became a perfectionist if it was perfect I wouldn’t feel good and then I dropped from Division 1 to the under 20 and performed horribly, went to a academy trails and said I was just gonna have fun and got scouted and picked for there team and now I’ve learnt to remember the reason why you started and remember I’m blessed to be able to play the beautiful game and now I play way better and have improved socially as well. Thanks for this video Oskar❤️

i feel u brother i have been going through that same phase for a long time . but still i dont know how to stop or not keep pushing , when after all this hardwork and discipline you see decline rather than progress its literally heartbreaking its like u give everything to the game and its just running away from you. i go through a very weird feeling when i relax anciety or i dont know . people are laugh at me or i laugh at times of doing so much and still be bad ,but i promise myself to keep my head up go through this tough times and become a pro and face you some dayy

Amazing video I really enjoy listening to your story and could relate too! I have always been focused on working hard and achieving my goals in football, even staying after day after day to do training in the dark and rain. I have felt this type of confusion and frustration when your hard work does not quite pay off, and learned a lot from it. The concept of balance in life is so important and understanding that at times you need to adjust to perform better is essential. It’s not so much caring less about the game we all love, it’s about finding a good mix of hard work and dedication with the other great things life has to offer. 🙌🙌🙌

After a couple of years of non stop training and working hard everyday it becomes hardwired in your brain and slowing down for me either makes me feel very guilty cause in my mind I’m not training hard enough or it feels like I’m empty whenever I happen to skip a session or slack off in any way, even when I’m injured, I want the injury to go away as soon as possible to start training again so I don’t waste time and often times I didn’t wait for my injuries to heal and prolonged them just to feel I was being productive to reach my objective. But I still think that this type of obsession if channeled properly with a long term view can take people to places they’ve never dreamed of being to

    • @OJFootballX

Definitely! I’m not saying that my way is the only way, but I know that a lot of players could benefit from adopting that mindset. That said, we’re all different and if that works for you, there is no reason why you should change rather than trying to perfect that mindset so it benefits you in the best way that it can!

I just wanted to say my story without make it to long but basically I started playing football since little and at 12 I started in a club and I changed 2 times so I did in all 3 yrs in a club and after I stopped cause the coach I had was always taking me appart for tell me bad things so this made me loose my confidence and in trainings I was rlly good making good stuff but when was the match days I was like freezing on the pitch and couldn't play and was scared to make mistakes also.. so after this I just kept going train by my own and its true that this put me so much pressure cause I'd like to be professional one day and basically in my city is complicated to find a club so ye mentally is complicated and very stressful because I always feels that isn't enough what im doing and the fact tht in the moment don't have club also make so much pressure.
so ye I really appreciate your videos, I discovered you some days ago and you are really inspiring for me and probably many others people so thank you for your videos and for share your experiences.💫

I kind of get it because I started football at the start of the pandemic years at 13. I worked out, worked on my fitness, and did technical stuff and at the time I was like, "I'm the only one doing this. I'm going to be the best." For two years I did this, then last year I got to join my first football team. We joined some tournaments and my performances were very disappointing. Not to mention, there were many players who were better than me. I couldn't understand it. I was confused and frustrated. I worked two years and I'm not getting the results. I'm still struggling with it now, and just wanted to say that I really appreciate your video about this stuff. Idk if you'll be able to read this one month after uploading the video, but just wanted to share the message. And would you say that even though I started later than most players normally would, there's a chance that I can still go pro? I just want your honest opinion, no need to sugarcoat things. Thanks!

I think the best advice I can give right now is don’t overthink things. I know the feeling that it feels like everyone catches up to you if you rest on your laurels, but I can tell you, this is not the case. Especially if we’re talking about a few training sessions. You won’t lose your ability. You should prioritize, and right now that priority should be on rehabbing whatever injury you have so you can get back to full fitness and take it from there.

I believe it’s more of an holistic approach than just for specific scenarios. I will soon make a video about why you SHOULD be making mistakes, as it was another key realization for me. Ask yourself “what is the worst thing that can happen?” if you make a mistake. Someone shouts at you? The coach puts you on the bench? I’ll think you’ll start to realize that it isn’t the end of the world, but it’ll take a bit of time. Let me know how you get on!

Nice video. I Can really feel what you are talking about. But if i understand this correctly you need to stop caring so much about everything about football. That means maybe training less, eating a bit unhealthier those kinda things etc. Am I right?

What he really means by not caring so much about football is that you shouldn't take football as if your life depended on it, that you should see it simply as a game, but that doesn't mean you should fall into bad habits like eating. junk food, having few hours of sleep, etc. It's like a middle point. He has a video that came out a few weeks after your comment that you might be interested in, I'll leave it here (Sorry for my bad English)

@@chavzm11 thank you bro. I now understand the concept. Of course you should drop the bad habits if you want to become the best. Its best to just enjoy football and don’t stress about and just work hard/smart and let football take you where it takes you.

So the idea is to not aim for an outcome in matches and to enjoy playing and being around your teammates more, Correct?

You could definitely put it like that, because the outcome is never really in your control but trying your best to be present in your environment is as well as you training, diet, sleep etc.
