It looks like you did it the hard way. I would've gotten some foam board a couple pieces of that, and attached the fur to the foam board and then just stuck the foam board up so you don't have to stand and reach up high on the wall.

I was thinking, maybe you can try one of those cat or dog metal brushes to comb between the lines of the fur to mesh them together, if that makes sense. Just an idea. Hopefully it works!
