Phil Collins is one of the main reasons why Tarzan is one my favorite Disney animated movies. Whoever hired Phil to be a part of the soundtrack was a flippin' genius!
No one ever went so hard for children’s movie soundtrack. The lyrics of these songs a pure poetry and thematic with the story. Phil Collins didn’t have to do it, but he did
God did we have amazing childhoods 90s and early 2000s people like myself really had it all in my opinion the last good childhood generation. Kids today will never know what it was like
@@hacantyapradipta1119 i agree with lion king and aladdin but i'm not sure with beauty and the beast, althought it's story is clear in my memory, i can't remember much
I actually haven’t listened to this since childhood watching the vhs movie tape and dude….why can’t I fucking stop crying? I thought my life would turn out so much differently…things are so hard right now
The weird thing is that Phil won an Oscar for “You’ll Be In My Heart,” but in my opinion all of his other songs on this soundtrack were way better than that one.
@@theyoungwolf9852Yeah, “Two Worlds” should’ve been the Oscar-submitted song from this soundtrack. Also, “Take A Look Through My Eyes” was the best song from the “Brother Bear” soundtrack, not “No Way Out.”
Man, I'm 19, about to be 20 soon and this was literally my childhood growing up. I'll never forget even playing this on the PS1. How time flies. Sad to see Disney don't make movies like these anymore. This is the song of my life, literally, and the soundtrack. Agree, to be honest, tarzan has been animated very well. The artstyle, plot and song are so well harmonized. I know i will never get another movie as good as tarzan. Especially when disney get churning out movies with songs like the frozen. But you cant blame disney for having audience with subpar taste in music and movies. Like seriously, these people are the type that like billie eilish... and YES, im going to be that type of person. Its constructive criticism. and nowadays people are too into the woke and sjw BS to have actual taste in music. Maybe disney should up the ante and produce actual movies which actual animations being done with actual plot and singers like Phil Collins that has talent. Just saying. Why do you think there is so many remake of live actions for older movies like tarzan, lion king,....? Because they run out of ideas and can only recycle it. Kids these days have trash taste in movies and music.. and seriously... who freaking follows avengers and movies like that which 80% cgi with no talent in acting. The trash music is quite infectious too. Sometimes im jamming to trash music because radios keep playing them. Call me hater or watever. You know the movie and Music Industry can churn out watever they want because audience and people have trash taste and will watch and listen to watever they produce. Reality.
Tell me about it. But as for me I wasn't born until 1998 so I can't really say much about that. But that doesn't mean I don't love the Disney films from the 90's any less. And heck it's not just the movies that made the 90's great it was also the era of some of the best cartoons ever made. I mean we got animaniacs, Rocko's modern life, Dexters lab, Sonic the hedgehog 1993, Talespin, and a whole lot more. And for me personally no TV show that comes out now will ever be as good as the masterpieces from the 90's
Lots of people seem to hate Phil Collins for whatever reasons. The guy is an absolute master. Top, top drummer back in his day, plays variety of other instruments, instantly recognizable voice and remarkable ability as composer. This here is a prime example - a song that captures the spirit of the movie, and sounds absolutely amazing 22 years later. Masterful. Bravo and thank you sir!
It's because he was one of the most played artists during the 80s. Naturally, the adults of the 80s loved it, but the rebellious kids of said generation became sick of Phil Collins, so the 90s was a big Collins hate party. Truly sad, because Phil's self esteem never really recovered from so much hate. And his catalogue really had a lot more than just "sussudio" or "one more night"- songs which I think didn't quite show all that Phil could do, but they got the spotlight anyway.
Me too. Nostalgia always hits me hard too, tears in my eyes. Love the tarzan soundtracks, always listen to them on spotify. Son of man is the one I loved most, mostly because of the inspiring lyrics!
This was one of my favorite songs from Phil Collins since my childhood, and I still have the movie Tarzan on vhs tape when I was 10 years old. I didn't care what anyone says about the movie, but I loved both the soundtrack and movie that brought me so much joy when Disney soundtracks had good songs at the time.
It pains and kills me the Disney that created Tarzan and many other great classic movies like it will never return, Thankfully for people like me we got to grow up with it.
I can imagine Mermaid Ariel, John Smith after he meets Pocahontas & Adolescent Hercules singing this song in their heads “Whatever you do I do it to” “I wanna know about the strangers like me” “Emotions I never knew of Some other world far beyond the place…beyond the trees above the clouds” “Please show me, something’s familiar about the strangers like me” “There’s a world I need to know” People are often disappointed Tarzan wasn’t a musical but I wasn’t then and still not now. It’s powerful in a different way and Phil Collin’s perfectly encapsulated “DISNEY” in this song without it being theatrical. I feel the song in Tarzan’s heart and that’s what matters 😊
I am 16, but I feel like I’ve grown up in the Golden age of Disney. I love Aladdin up to Tarzan, as you guys have commented, these new movies that have come out just don’t express the true wonder and magic of our classic Disney. If I could, I would time travel back to every release dates and watch them
I was a “baby” when this movie came out. My folks always tell me that I saw Tarzan 1,000+ times. Growing up. Plus, always liked the music from the soundtrack and score. Disney has genus’s putting film projects together. The Disney series Winnie Pooh comes in a close 2nd place.
With Phil one of my drumming/singing idols most of my life (26 now as typing this), I'm proud to say that this movie was how I discovered Collins as a kid around 20 years ago. It''s amazing at all he accomplished and gave to music as a drummer/singer for several bands and projects for four decades and also as a long time session drummer and producer for other artists. I don't appreciate all the negative backlash and criticism this guy has gotten over the years, like (cough) the Gallagher brothers of Oasis. I'm not saying everyone has to like his music , we all have our own music tastes, but I wish people would learn to better appreciate what Phil gave to the world of music. He certainly can't help either that radio overplays the same songs over and over again. Great soundtrack this was.
in todays generation I wish people would understand that stuff like this is real music. I'm a big music fan. And at 17 years old I get complemented on all the songs and artist that I know from the "30s up till now.
I’m born in the year 2000 and I love this song I like old music and new music ( I listen more to country then most genres ) but all and all I’m with you today’s generation ( even though I’m one ) don’t know old music but yours is the 1930s to now me it’s the late 1920s to now ( thinks to my dad he made me listen to them which I love some of them )
This adaptation of Tarzan officially introduced me to Phil Collin's music. Before that, he was just a mysterious voice on the radio. Genesis changed my life, dudes.
Phil had no business going this hard on the song and video. Truly magnificent work of rythm and powerful voice. His music was simply one of the best things that ever happened to Disney ❤
I will always remember that my first girlfriend never seen this movie and was doubtful about it being good. I remember I begged her to watch it for almost a year and finally it was on a streaming platform for us to watch it. Within the first 10 min she cried and throughout the movie she claimed it was one of her favorites. This song is always the icing on the cake for me. Tarzan is a fantastic tale of love amongst those that are different and how a son seeks redemption from an overbearing father. An outcast his whole life just desires validation at least once and when he finds people that look like him he begins to question his entire livelihood. 10/10 movie

I'd say early 2000s because of Brother Bear and Meet the Robinsons.
@@sadespain2339 And Atlantis & Treasure Planet.
I have to disagree I would say around 2012 but I wouldn’t know I was born in 2005
Used to sing my soul out to this song every time I watched Tarzan when I was younger lol Phil really nailed it
Best Disney soundtrack in my opinion
Thank you God for Phil
Phil Collins. is my favorite
Today’s Disney could take a few notes on how to capture emotion in music like good ole Philly boy here
Man, being 15 while walking down the hall singing this makes me thing I'm a 90's kid.
Phil collins_A legend beyond horizon!!
The GOAT!!!!
Intelligent song on many levels, like Phil Collins :]
Tarzan has by far the greatest Disney Soundtrack, followed perhaps by the Lion King
i love phil collins he is so amazing
The Disney movies in the past were absolutely amazing! Tarzan and the lion king had very deep stories. The movies were really like life lessons! Now they're just songs and princesses.
Does he know this is a movie about a guy who thinks he’s a monkey? Cuz this is really good...
HEY PHIL YOU DIDNT HAVE TO GO THIS HARD
2018 and still listening to this
Love from 🇲🇾
I remember seeing this video at the end of the Tarzan VHS, damn
On life I never noticed he was also the dude on the drums and the guitar
