Amazing just got into this band recently after listening to the new album and what I like about them was some similarities with the Waterboys.....which is a good thing right. the boys buying Robert Wyatt, Season of Glass and Harmonia....can't go wrong guys!
Love this band (my no2 fav)!!!! Was surprised to see them win an award. I dont consider them a rock band, but most certainly deserve more attention. [no1 fav: The Brian Jonestown Massacre, no3 fav: Ruby Haunt]
No wonder I like them so much, songs like " whole of the moon" and " this is the sea" are right up my alley. If he tells us he loves " stay" by Bernard Butler, then it totally makes sense
The girl @7:09 is just about the perfect crate digging image: TheWar on Drugs are saying their goodbyes while being filmed by a camera crew, but you are like "Move over will you, I see that one Drive By Truckers album I don't have!"
He said his friend Kurt showed him snowflakes are dancing...funny Kurt Vile must of really loved that album cause he named a song that on Wakin On A Pretty Daze
I came by The Waterboys on the soundtrack to a little known Indy flick called “Dream With the Fishes”. Recommend both. Also highly recommend Jeremiah Johnson!
Does anyone know what album that is close to David at 6:22 ? The one with the big colored dots on it? It just caught my attention and now I'd really like to know what it is :-)
Snowflakes are dancing! Excellent! That is a genius piece of work! If you like Debussy this is a treat! I really love Amoeba. Shows me cool shit about the taste of folks I think get it musically.
+buttrock obama weren't you slighting will toledo on npr tiny desk too? Who DO you care for buttrock? YOU ARE EVERYWHERE I GO ON RUclips AND YOU NEVER HAVE ANYTHING POSITIVE TO SAY .
Vanessa Garcia still don't really care for wod though. I find them boring. This is actually the first time anyone has ever called me out for being too negative on youtube though that I'm aware of.
It's about time The Waterboys get recognition.
Hell yes
Hey that's Mark Kozelek's favorite band
#ThrowbackThursday: The War on Drugs went shopping at Amoeba Hollywood for this "What's In My Bag?" episode from 2012!
Can we have another one with other band members in place?
My favorite band currently
I'm not surprised by his Waterboys picks; I can hear their influence in WOD. Listen to "Be my Enemy" by the Waterboys your hear Dylan in their too.

Get Up With It is my favorite Miles album as well! I was so pleased when I managed to snag myself a copy on vinyl a while back.
I'm going to watch The War on Drugs and The Waterboys play at the same festival this summer. Apparently Adam will be as happy as me :)
Nice
I was not at all surprised by their Waterboys pick. Fantastic band.
Props to the guy picking his nose at @3:27
Sonny Witton ‘
Sonny Witton: Good eye!!

HARMONIA!!! YES!
for those interested, it's Rother from Neu! on guitar, as well as Moebius/Roedelius :)

Nice. Funny, his friend Kurt bought "his friend Adam" a record on his Whats In My Bag.

Recommend both.
Also highly recommend Jeremiah Johnson!
I found Hill - Mountain Man on vinyl I bought just because i randomly saw on this episode.
that mountain man cover art is fucking badass
That Waterboys record is fantastic! I was introduced to it by an actual Irish woman, back during the Summer of 94.
Wait, wait, wait - an ACTUAL Irish woman? Fucking crazy John! Are you ok?
They're a Scottish band mind you.
To be sure...
@@ListenToBigFace hey i have an idea: why don’t you go fuck yourself, chode. What’re we in Junior high here??
Fantastic band
Robert Wyatt/Soft Machine are incredible
Man, these guys have great taste. Makes me want to check them out more.
It would be AMAZING if Pj Harvey did one of these
+Rodrigo Morell indeed. We've sent invitations, but she is a busy woman. We'll keep trying.
Amoeba Respek.
It's cool when you can hear their influences that you've never heard of.
I have yet to see a video of Adam without a jean jacket. I'm okay with this.
Eli W. lol
that is a pretty special jean jacket in the video it must be said
*denim
Já gostava de War on drugs, agora ainda mais sabendo que Granduciel gosta de Waterboys e dos dois discos citados
Great choices, I am going to have to give this band another chance.
Harmonia - Props!!
Coolest Pix of All Ono and Wyatt
Great band...even greater picks!
That Miles album is great. Super moody. Definitely recommend it.
Waterboys, nice. While you are at it, get some World Party too
Trent Rez you’re right.
Bridge and Tunnel people love em some War on Drugs
That Bob Newhart joke really cracked me up
Excellent
Yeah, and didn't even talk about it! They probably cut some parts though.

5:32 Hartley's not feeling the Ono pick
Feel Flows...yeahhh
as long as pretntious JAZZ is not mentioned on these - i'll watch
they've done well since this video, haven't they?
Does anyone know what album that is close to David at 6:22 ? The one with the big colored dots on it? It just caught my attention and now I'd really like to know what it is :-)
+Playedback I think it was the crystal stilts Radiant Door
yep the radiant door record, that album is awesome!
Robert Redford nod of approval
Ha! Same thing went through my mind.
Snowflakes are dancing! Excellent! That is a genius piece of work! If you like Debussy this is a treat! I really love Amoeba. Shows me cool shit about the taste of folks I think get it musically.
ROFFLESTOMP
Tomita is a genius. Snowflakes, Firebird, and The Planets are my jams.
The only War on Drugs that got good results is The War on Drugs. Excellent music! The other war has been useless.
I own every album with the exception of Bob Newhart that Adam bought, Who knew?
kinda sick he knows about jackson c frank, didn't even know he was so popular these days
Liquid Liquid is the shit!
And Harmonia!
I LOVE ROBERT WYATT
"My friend Kurt" heh heh heh.
🤔 No Red House Painters? Odd.
You had me at Tomita.... Snowflakes are Dancing....
Michael Burke
Snowflakes, Firebird and Planets are pretty much embedded in brain.
It was the best of times, it was the blurst of times!
can you do another one?
Sometimes friendly waves are better than handshakes or fist bumps.
What is the name of the WOD track that opens this video?
Billy Crosby Brothers
Brothers
@@jackmccauley7556 thank you
Bob Newhart is king!
who's the guy in the middle?
The Simpsons ripped off Bob Newhart.
+xmachodonkeywrestler It was the best of times, it was the blurst of times.
Cutting Crew's The Scattering in the corner? Seriously?
Why not zoidberg?
Just now realizing The Simpsons stole that Infinite Monkeys joke from from Newhart
hahaha he said "they were on a 'cocaine freak-out'"
